I was here 1990 and 1991 for Father’s Day weekend. My favorite memories as a young teenager growing up. The route 93 crossing was the best part. While We were splashing water on the hillside trying to make it harder for them to get up the hill from the river. There were thousands and thousands of people standing in that river watching. I remember the news came over us in a helicopter filming it. It was epic

What a blast. Me and my crew were there from the beginning to the end. In the beginning College buddy and me were 2 of maybe 12 guys at Rt93. At power-line there were maybe 20 people. Down-hill, peat-bogs, cabin-mountain, swinging-bridge, moon-rocks, there was nobody. In the end there were 1000's at each spot. We knew the original Mud-Flea who would swim in the mudholes with beer. My old KX-250 would stall as soon as the front wheel barely touched water. I got it in pieces in boxes from the one-and-only Mr Rogers (PBS). No wonder he got rid of it. We always heard the Sierra Club bought all the land and banned the race.

Those are some tough dudes. I had the pleasure (?) of racing this course in 92 in the first ever 24 hour mountain bike race, the 24hours of Canaan.

I was there every year with my friends from Ridgely, West Virginia, Friday, Saturday and Sunday every year. We had a great time together, and all of us were dirty.
