Black Diamond vs Ugly Line Round 1

Ойын-сауық

Trying out Echo Black Diamond trimmer line .95 for the first time in a Echo Speed Feed 400 head. I have been using Ugly Line for years and very happy with it. I thought I would give the BD a try as many people say it's great. Well, here we go!

Thanks so much! I did not want to spend so much time with my videos when I started my channel. It takes so much time to edit each angle so it you see me continuing doing what i'm doing like a camera crew is following me but really, it's just my phone as I move the tripod all the time. I am having so much fun doing this but like said, it's taking way too much time away from business.

I have found in this industry, that the best practice is to find what works for you and stick with it! The only time I ever change is after 2 or 3 years a product has been on the market with good results and the product I'm using suddenly is not available anymore.

have you tried the .105 version of the black diamond? Also, if you have and you didn't like it, have you tried the Rino-Tuff Twisted .95 string? It does look somewhat like the "Ugly Line" you were using, not sure what the actual name of that line is.

I just bought a new 2320T this morning , came with black diamond line in it . First property vertical edging sidewalk it did the same thing . I thought oh they didn’t put much in it . I popped it apart and thr was lots in it . I took it out and put in my other string . I find it’s very brittle. Do u think it’s going back in the head , I think it’s snapping off . I bought a three pound spool two years ago . I was glad when it was gone !!! I did hear they changed it since then . I also read about soaking trimmer line in general for 24 hours in water . I might try that . It’s a good week to get work done . A little cool but that’s ok. Take care and good video!!

I am thinking about getting a 2320.With the line, I am not sure if it snapped off. Could not find the piece if it did. I'm glad I did not buy a big spool of it. I still spent 20 bucks or so on each pack. Might be giving it away soon. Not sure about the soaking in water trick. If you have to do things like that then it's probably not a good product in my books. Thanks for watching and I really appreciate your feedback.

I tapped it at the side of the driveway when trimming and it came out fine. When going down the curb I lost one end, I guess it when back into the head. So I took it apart, re stringed it, and it happened again. Damn, this does not happen with the ugly line. I did not change any technique with my trimming. I will have another go with the black diamond again tomorrow. If it keeps on happening I will just continue with the line that works best for me.

  • @KenMrKLC

I just use the orange stuff that’s like a square with sharp edges, I think its from Oregon, decent price and holds up fine. I haven’t used any string that doesn’t diminish up against concrete or chainlink. I think its more about your technic. Become one with the trimmer, as I am sure you know you can have good accuracy with experience. You seem to do very nice work. You got it.... Not everyone does. It seems simple to me after 22 years my body doesn’t even feel any of the type of work I do landscaping. I have become a product of the industry and that’s ok with me.

I bought a brand new Echo PAS 2620 and installed speed feed 450 with .095 cross fire line. Their orange line. I soaked it in water for 2 days. (Waste of time doesn't work) I had the exact same issue with half my line not coming out of one the holes. Restringed it and it did it again like in your video. I returned the 450 head and bought a brand new Echo speed feed 400. I have yet to use it but I am not impressed with Echos trimmer line at all. It is brittle junk. Haven't noticed any issues yet with it jamming or only one side only refeeding. The echo orange cross fire .095 is complete shit. It doesn't last and jams up the speed feed heads.
