That bear had no chance of killing that dog. Bears are surprisingly nimble for their weight and size, but not on the same level as a German Shepherd. That dog could runs circles around that bear, all day.

That dog was awesome protecting the back door and keeping the bear from getting in. That dog sure stood his ground. Best dog to have ever.

At 3:07 you can see the dog is scared with its tail tucked between its legs, and yet still, it stood its ground to protect its home. Doggo was no match for a bear, it knew that, but was brave nonetheless! Thank God it was not harmed!

Problem is, I don't think the dog could have went anywhere else at that point. It didn't have a choice as that fence at the top probably surrounded the back patio there, I imagine. Luckily the bear didn't continue to approach the dog still because the dog may not have had anywhere else to retreat to.

Maybe bear was afraid of dog, thinking it was a wolf, with more wolves nearby. I've heard that in the wild, packs of wolves have attacked lone bears. Bear would be able to handle one wolf or dog easily, but several of them at once would be a different story.

The dog was in a combative stance, not scared. Black bear in our yard were afraid of my three year old and my Pomeranians. I have no idea why the entire Swat team had to be called out on this poor baby. 🤦🏻‍♀️

Most animals like dogs, wolves, hyenas etc do that to protect their privates in a fight. Dog wasn't afraid just taking necessary precaution.

The bear is exhibiting normal behavior for the situation. I don't see any signs of fear, except when a dog, 20% of the bears weight, takes chase. Even then the bear did not come close to its full speed. The bear is not lost and is just ambling through the neighboorhood.

That is one courageous dog! Tail tucked in but still trying to protect his family. I grew up in S. California and never saw a bear running loose. My Dad did catch a large opossum in one of our trees. 1960's time frame. A couple of years ago my brother called and said there was a mountain lion in his next door neighbors tree. The neighbor had 2 large German shepherds and they kept it in the tree until a couple of forest rangers came with a dart gun and took it away. The cat had traveled through about 5 miles of high traffic areas to get there.

I feel so sorry for this bear. It didn't mean no harm. It just needs food to survive. 😭😭😭

Unfortunately Larry Currier is right as much as some of us would like to love the bear give him food shelter and such they are wild animals and if we offer a handout they will come back as in nature if there is a river full of fish they will come back it's easy food if there is a certain home that gave food before the bear will come back and is then in danger as humans are terrible and we look to kill things so we can survive.

The dog was terrified but defending its home. When the bear lost its nerve and ran, you see that dog's tail come out from between it's legs, and it goes full predator.

Gotta love how the dog is a coward when directly confronted but as soon as the bear turns it's back, the dog acts like big shit.

This what happens when you build house in bear country. They were here before us

it has been caught before and red tagged, meaning he is not aggressive., leave em alone and they will go home.

yes it is... a friend of mine works for .. the wild life preservation in S. California... one day I had a bear visit me, and she was red tagged. I asked him about it, and what they do, is, if someone calls out animal control because a bear is in their back yard, they are sedated, captured, and evaluated. if the bear seems aggressive they will be green tagged and relocated further in to the wilderness, if they are non aggressive, and some what docile, such as THIS one, they will be red tagged and released in local mountain area.

Interesting how the two species could understand each other. When the dog's tail was down the bear advanced. When the dog stood its ground the bear retreated. When the bear retreated the dog took advantage. When the bear held its ground the dog said...hey, let's call it a draw.

they're always looking for food. They survive in the wild, getting human food just puts them at risk. As in, this bear isn't the slightest bit afraid of humans. That's bad for his survival.

Look, not even the dog is attacking it! He knows the bear is just hungry and hot from the sun. Just wants him off the property. Wildlife officials do a food drop far out in the woods somewhere! Leave a tub of drinking water out there too please!

Cheryl Cooper with forest being cleared, hunting for wild games etc.etc.. global warming, polluted river, overfished rivers.. competition for food by human who hunts for a living... ..........nothing is left for bear....woke up from hibernation..river is empty... No wild animals for food ..so out of the woods in search for food... Etc..

nope,. we have about 30,000 bears in California. They come down from the mountains routinely to go into the pools and see if there is any easy food around. Bear is tagged, so has a habit of being around human areas, getting into trash. They are often found in the mountain suburbs in LA County getting into peoples pools. That said, the long drought has been hard on all kinds of animals, not just us humans.

I wouldn't exactly call it a break in/home invasion when all the bear is doing is wandering aimlessly outside in people's yards and down the street in search of food stuffs. It's trash day. What do you expect?

Poor Bear. Just trying to make a living and unsure where to go.

That dog had his tail between his legs and only chased the bear when he turned away.

i really feel bad for these wild animals 😞 i know these people don't harm them and that they are just driving him away back to his home... but these animals have little home and food left because forests are being turned into subdivisions. 😭

That is one fucking brave dog! Believe me he knew that bear could tear him apart but he or she stood bravely. Unbelieveable!

I run into bears at least once a week when I walk my dogs where I live, never had a problem, they just keep to their own.

I have noticed that as well. I am terrified of bears. They are fearsome glorious creatures, and living in Alaska had me exposed a great deal. But I don't have a single negative experience to account for in their midst. I've been frightened, but had no conflict.

@@hmpz36911 I've lived in Vermont for 9 years and still don't believe native residents who tell me our black bears are more afraid of us then we are of them. Apparently, they underestimate how afraid of them I am, lol. Unfortunately, that fear keeps me from enjoying the woodsy park near my home.

He's just looking for pic-a-nic baskets.

They should go to court. I think the dog should be arrested and charged because the bear was in fact invited by the homeowner.

The Bear had a tag in its ear. So the Bear must have been tagged by the Wildlife Service to identify it.

Lol! For about 5 seconds that doggy fought that he/she was such a badass! It can now tell all it's pals that it ran a bear off 😄 Glad nobody or either animal was hurt.

BEAR 🐻 LOOKS TIRED AND THIRSTY

Son and I lived in little cabin, in Woody Creek Colorado. The bears came every night for our neighbors trash. Our dog BUDDY, found his PURPOSE in life. Protecting us! More important than food or getting petted.

I’m happy the dog got a second chance to show how tough he is.

I love the way they initially stand around pretending they're not looking at each other before the bear pounced. both know the score. after getting his ass handed to him, the bear takes off and the dog gives it a half hearted token chase lol

That's a nice house ! That bear wanted to live the high life.

I'd describe that more as a disagreement than an argument.

The dog probably had a moment of honest reflection and in that moment he said oh s*** this thing can actually eat me I'm Audi 500 peace

I think certainly the most ballsy thing the bear did was walk that high wall like it was a tightrope at 4:13. Legit circus bear talent there.

The sign at the front door made this whole incident even more hilarious😂😂
