Bixby and Google Assistant together can crush Apple's Siri and any other competiors. Remember that Samsung is also part of the Android family. In the end Android is all about being TOGETHER, not the same. Take Notes Apple.

Tizen is still an open OS, like android. But 99.999% maintained by Samsung. But a lot of the projects it uses are also sponsored by Samsung. So there is sponsoring for gstreamer, wayland, enlightenment.

Best video on these AI assistants. The complement each other not compete with each other.

exactly!!! Why would Samsung have given a dedicated button for bixby and Google Assistant too. I don't know why people are comparing both google assistant and bixby. They are designed to work with each other. they aren't alternatives. Great video @sakitech

That's what boggles my mind. Kind of stupid and redundant if you ask me. Why on earth do you need a dedicated button when you can simple speak. All they did was added something that can now fail/break and another place for possible water to get in... I swear sometimes companies must have only 1 person instead of a group of persons working on products, because if it was a group... would you not think that someone within that group might have a little more common sense to say, hey... if we can operate the assistant with our voice... is there really a need to add extra buttons and holes in the case for no real reason?

I just wish they would allow us to choose what to use the button with. Sometimes it's fun to control the phone with it, sometimes it'd be cool to just ask the Assistant silly questions. Also, never had accidental presses on S8, people need to learn how they hold phones.

Thats for people who feel bit award to say "Hi Bixby". Just pretend there is no dedicated button exists on your phone. I would like the word "Bixby" to be configured to something personal. It would be interesting to say "Hi Wife, set the phone to vibrate!!!". I wonder what would happen if you are on a train or in a crowd and then you say "Hi Bixby" ?

Having both is nice. But with my s8 having Bixby voice now, the phone doesn't respond anymore when I call out Okay Google. Is there something I have to do in the settings?

I totally agree. They do make a great combo. The S8 has the best of both worlds.

I'm glad you did a video like this, I had been wondering what the point really was in having both and if they would slowly start cutting google assistant out of the phone now. So it's good to see how they can both be used to improve the phone usage. Great stuff! Thanks.

I think for Bixby if they put follow up commands instead of having to say Hi Bixby it'll be awesome. Like Hey Bixby, change my resolution to 4k (changes resolution), then you can just say, go back to the home screen or even issue more commands there and then. It's actually pretty decent work by Samsung

You can do that yes, but I want you to look at the first part 0:42. I think after going into the settings he should just be able to say Go to device maintenance without having to say Hi Bixby again, because sometimes you don't know where every setting is, and can't always anticipate what you're going to want to do there (and this applies to many other areas where you can use Bixby), so you can't always conjugate everything into one command. For example if you might find you don't want to keep the setting you just changed and want it reverted, contextual follow up gives leeway for that. "Change back to 1080p and go back to the home screen." Simple

That would be the next step for future Galaxy phones. Like setting a time frame for when you can Talk to Bixby with pausing for like 1 or 2 minutes till you know what the command is because you have to think about it. So you don't always need to say HI BIXBY.

Mark H yeah I think so. you might go to Google and type in bixby release date and put whatever country your in, but I did read they are suppose to release it tomorrow for us...

I never took Bixby seriously. After watching this video I will now use it. I ride a motorcycle with a Bluetooth communicator from the helmet to the phone. I can use bixby to operate the phone while keeping both hands on the wheel. This is really going to help me. Thanks.

undeniable conclusion : you dont use internet on your phone

but it's not yet been released right.. cous I just updates it yesterday & nothing seem to be can activate with voce navigation. Or.. there's some setup need to activate first.

I was totally anti Bixby remapped the button to flashlight. I set it up today and was impressed I was surprised how well it worked so much better than s voice ever was. You are correct Bixby and google assistant are a perfect couple.

Question...... do you find that you have to restart your phone to get Google assistant to work sometime? After watching your video, I was testing out the commands and GV wouldn't work, so I had to restart my phone and restarting the phone isn't anything new for me

I'm visually impaired and didn't realise Bixby was able to do chain commands. I use voice assistants a lot to navigate Within my device and find it frustrating that you cannot complete full changes simply by voice l. Thank you for this video its a game changer for me.

Hey from Slower Lower in Millsboro!! Thank you for doing this video. I was wondering what the difference between the two were. You cleared that up. I'm upgrading to a note 9 from a v30 in a few weeks. So excited!!

Just pick one and use it, from a programming point of view this seems very redundant and resource inefficient if two programs are running in the background to passively listen to the activation command to do what the other one sets out to do.

That a awesome combo, if samsung and google come to an agreement to merge these two masterpiece of software. It will be one of the best agreement ever of this decade.
