Biscuits and Gravy
The Ravishing Mrs. Ritter had a hankerin' for biscuits and gravy--"Your wish is my command, m' lady!" I made this with Sage sausage and added a little hot pepper. That's my new favorite!
Here's how Mom made her biscuits:
• Butter Biscuits
Ingredients:
1 pound sage breakfast sausage
1/3 cup all purpose flour
3-4 cups whole milk
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon black pepper (optional)
1/2 teaspoon hot pepper flakes (optional)
Directions:
1. In a large pot over medium high heat, brown sausage until no longer pink.
2. Sprinkle half the flour over the sausage and stir until flour is soaked up by the sausage. Turn the heat down to medium low. Add the rest of the flour little by little, stirring as you add. Cook for another minute or so.
3. Pour in the milk, salt, and optional black and hot pepper. Cook another 10-12 minutes, stirring regularly. Add additional milk if too thick for your taste. Add additional seasoning to taste.
4. Serve over hot biscuits.

i found if you freeze the butter you can use a grater to get fine peaces of butter to mix in

You did your mom proud! I have never seen it all thrown together like you did but I laughed out loud when you spoke of salt and the drawbacks as my sister is a no or low salt, but your answer of how it also brings flavor was freakin’ right on! That much gravy dang it, was needing the SALT and at least a teaspoon and probably another half! But always taste and adjust, knowing you can add but can’t take it out. A tip on the biscuits, after you punch out all you can you can grab those scraps and knead again and punch again. You Frankenstein biscuit shouldn’t be but the one last one. Love your video and Happy Birthday Bella! They grow up too fast. Your camera assistant was the bomb! 🎉 love to all ❤ miss your mom and Bucky and especially their bantering! Jimmy Dean Italian sausage always hard to find. It’s my favorite. Have brought groups to the Tea Plantation at Wadmalaw Island. Close by is the famous Angel Oak Tree. I too use Marburger Buttermilk for biscuits. Happy Birthday Bella. Belated, I think as this video shows up on 4/12.

It's ok if the butter is still in hunks.. sometimes I use a tin can cut out top and bottom to cut biscuits. I know some of the tin cans u can't open bottom

Sausage gravy is such an individual art…I like to start my sausage in some bacon grease; also temper the milk first and not cold….nonetheless good video Steve!
I find that if you use a large meat fork the butter mixes in simple..
