I found this sweet ladies channel a week ago. I had no idea she had went to Heaven. I'm 58 yrs old and I could never make a biscuit until I watched this video. People always said I was playing with my dough too much. Well I never really understood what they meant, but I do now. Wish this sweet lady knew how much she helped me make biscuits. 💜

Ms. Phyllis I have to tell you I’ve become a butter-biscuit-making-fool!! In a good way tho...lol...love cutting the butter in the food processor, saves time and the butter is cut up much finer. I will share that I altered the recipe a bit. For 4 cups of SR flour I add 1.5 sticks of cold butter and 1 teaspoon of baking SODA...wow what a rise it makes...! Still with 2 cups of buttermilk, tho I find with Gold Medal flour I have to use 1/4-1/2 cup more butter milk. Anyway, just can’t thank you enough for teaching me to make biscuits I’m proud of and I know my mother would be proud too. Warm hug... I’m wiped out from the week so I’m laying it down. Good night Ma’am. 🙂

This reminds me of my mom's biscuits. My parents were married in 1939 and were "poor as church mice". She never owned a biscuit cutter but used an old Carnation milk can, lid removed, of course, to cut her biscuits. I don't know what happened to her biscuit cutter, but, wish I had it. Thanks, Phyllis

Jeannie Alford My mother used the cream can as a cabbage chopper, I remember that well chopping big dish pans of garden grown cabbage for her to can saur kraut and I used one forever after I got married 76 thankfully I still have mine I haven't seen it for years I am just now wondering if some tossed it thinking it was trash, I would just put the empty can on a burner and get it hot and then knock off the top and you had a new cabbage cutter, mommy always made a well in her self rising flour poured in her buttermilk and lard and mixed it with her fingers and hand until she had a dough inside the well to make her biscuits then cut them off with the edges of her hands made them into a biscuit and put them in the cast iron skillet I mad them like that for years BUT now I just mix the dough up and drop it to the pan with a big spoon and bake lazy I know but it still tastes good LOL I am going to look through my cabinets to see if I can find my cream can cutter I only have the one since by the time i needed another one they changed the way thy put the lids on the cans and you can't get one any longer, oh and I always top off where I had punched holes and that made the bottom smooth on your hand when chopping, thanks for the memory Jeannie I got so many memories when I watch Miss Phyllis cook and tell her stories

Oh my gosh! My grandparents came from Arkansas to WA state after WWII but the south never left them. So many of ypur recipes and stories remind me of them, as well as your beautiful southern drawl!! I love your videos! Thank you so much for being such a valuable resource for so many! My pappy used to mix honey/molasses/Kari syrup with butter and sop it up with a biscuit or his dollar cakes he always made. We sure do miss them, but I have my memories and you help trigger them!! Thanks again, Lisa ❤

A small mushroom can, with top and bottom cut out, also works well as a biscuit cutter. I kept one in my utensil drawer for quite a while.

Hi Ms. Phyllis ❤ Today in my home I accomplished something that I didn't think possible. I taught my teens to bake from scratch! I'm 35, lost my nana at 13 and my mama has just never cared. Anyhow, because of your videos I'm learning things that my nana was teaching me and now I'm teaching my girls. I thank you so much for taking your time to do this, it's very appreciated. ❤Amanda

It's important to learn and pass on the traditional cooking recipes and methods from our relatives. Every Sunday, I would go to my Grandmother's house after church. We would cook together and do the dishes...by hand. It is a special memory of mine. When my daughter was young, we baked together. You are an integral part of this legacy to so many. When I was younger, I made everything from scratch, somehow got away from that practice. You have renewed my vigor for 'homemade' again! Thanks Phyllis.

I’m a newcomer to watching her videos. Only discovered them last summer. I had never made her biscuits but decided today would be the day.....even went to Walmart to get the food processor and it’s great by the way and still inexpensive! Loved the biscuits. Loved Phyllis and will miss her deeply!

We're making this tomorrow for "Sunday Breakfast for Dinner" . I ordered the White Lily flour off Amazon. ( we don't have it up here). Can't wait to try it for the first time! And in case anybody is interested, I called the White Lily Company, and they use only American wheat, and the flour is processed in Ohio. It's the real deal! p.s. update. they were divine and everyone loved them!

I love making and eating homemade biscuits, my folks were from the south and I watched my mother make homemade biscuits every single Saturday morning along with homemade Sausage gravy for us kids, and yes..there were 8 of us and 2 adults. Now that I’m married I try all kinds of biscuits from Pinterest, and watch these U-tube videos. Yummy..they all are.

Warm with honey and lots of butter; that’s how I like to eat my biscuits! Steven also did well in making them himself, but in a preheated cast iron baking pan-and since I have one like his, I’ll try that tomorrow. Thanks for referencing this video; she is a joy to watch-unpretentious and soft spoken.

Thanks for this simple recipe and the great tips! To make cleanup easier, i simply add the dry ingredients...give a pulse til blended...then leave on and pour milk through funnel until the mixture turns into a dough ball. So, hope this helps and saves a little time and clean up...Blessings!
