I marvel at You Tube & Google though collecting current events, they also house US history that can buoy oldie hearts. Bing had radio show in 40's with theme song, "When the Blue of the night, meets the Gold of the Day". Leading to "When the gold of her hair, crowns the blue of her eyes" etc. T'was better than, "Baby; baby x/25... " & Hip Hop aloola. Add a headache to the BASS DRUMS. Fine contemporary; etc. Change is good, but only when it goes FORWARD. Even Putin knows that. Censor the good, it's a paradise for Kamala Harris crowd when old Joe B., gets a home on Praire.

Back in the early 70s in London, Bing did a short commercial in a recording studio (most likely a 30 second thing) For some reason he was unable to be paid for his Services. ( probably something to do with the dreaded Musicians Union). But after the Session had been done, (apparantly in One Take) outside, was a Rolls Royce parked for him.

This judgmental jackass obviously knows little about Christ's teachings -- because he's too busy worried about an apparent splinter in someone else's eye rather than the plank in his own.

Jake Mabe Plank? The man was a smoker, a drinker, a gambler, an adulterer, sang wicked, worldly songs, prayed to Mary and to dead saints. He talked nice, dressed well, kept a relatively decent home and wasn't as vulgar as the modern-day pop artists are - So what? That's irrelevant, was he a Christian? Did he trust in the blood of Jesus, and that alone to justify him before the Father? I read about such a man, and find it was not so and it makes me sad, God will not accept you on your terms, Cain worshippers are not true worshippers. I used to like some of his music, however my authority is not Bing Crosby it is Jesus Christ and Him alone, His word which He gave to me. I'll examine the word of God, and if Bing Crosby don't measure up then Bing Crosby don't measure up. I don't mold and annotate the word to fit Bing Crosby, he'll have to mold himself to it.

The suicides were long after Bing had passed and in fact had very little (if anything) to do with him. He spanked his boys (Bing freely admitted this many years ago), but as Kathryn said in an interview (available to look up), only Gary made the accusations and the other three boys refuted it. Mary said that Gary had said to her that what he wrote wasn't really the way it went down and there are lots of other bits of information out there that would tend to exonerate Bing. He could be cold, a firm disciplinarian and remote, but a monster definitely not, he clearly loved his boys. All four boys had issues when older, but to blame Bing for the suicides is untrue. Bing had many great qualities, his generosity, his loyalty, his absolute abhorance of treating people differently and the fact that as remote as he could be, his love for all of his children. His biggest problem I think was that he was unable to express his emotions and love to people, which would have made a difference.

I’m Phillip jr. And it’s true that my father was indeed pretty dysfunctional but my uncles suicides had more to do with their depression. All four struggled in life. The lives of celebrities can be that way. When Gary wrote his book the national conversation was turning towards how to raise children more gently and the book capitalized on that and the success of Mommy dearest. I don’t believe it was fair to throw Bing under the bus that way and i believe Gary felt the same at the end but those two had their issues and Bing was not a perfect man or father. An absent father can be challenging for a family and my grandmother struggled with their life together. All this is just what I’ve discovered over the years. Calling this man a monster has more to do with the individual making that claim than what kind of man my grandfather was. He was a great man, a phenomenal artist, and a great American.

Read the relatively new information that counteract many of the unfair half truths and mistruths about this man. Especially how the son who wrote the unflattering book was later reinterviewed and the interesting answers he gave. As well as his step sisters interviews where she noted that he later apologised to the rest of the family and talked to her about his reasons for writing some things in said book. Another book written about Bing which damaged his reputation has been largely debunked. Also his latest and probably best biographer interviewed many people over many years who knew Bing and he noted that most of them loved him, which also dispels the myth that he wasn't liked or nice. His sons suicided in their 50s and if you read about the reasons they had little if anything to do with their father. Flawed yes, evil no and has been the subject of a lot of half truths and mistruths.

You do realise Lindsay and Dennis took their own lives years after their father's death, right? By the way, it wasn't completely his fault; his first wife Dixie Lee's drinking problem that gave them fetal alcohol syndrome, which gave them a bit of a brain deficiency. Like I said in a previous comment, Bing was not a good father, but he wasn't evil. He was raised in an era where "Spare the rod, spoil the child" was the motto for parenting, and corporal punishment was still encouraged in Catholic teachings (his lifelong faith). All in all, what Gary wrote about him was utter baloney. A cheap method to make a quick buck. Joan Crawford's daughter wrote the same thing about her mother too. I suggest you watch PBS Masters Bing Crosby: Rediscovered or just look up Redeeming Bing Crosby on google. That'll give you a better insight about what he really was like
