I'm a minority - half Czech and half Austrian, but I've loved all types of music my whole life. Lived in mixed neighborhoods - Italian, Irish, German...and us. Haha. I actually hadn't met an Englishwoman until I moved south to Georgia. Go figure. Thanks for the treat! This video is great! How did I never see it before?! I absolutely love Galway Bay.
Dean Martin greatest crooner, truly amazing voice, the way he sings it like floating on clouds

Italian and Irish were often together growing up the common bond was familial priority, liturgical structure, saints as confidential prayer warriors, and if a bully messed wth one the bully got the other to deal with too. You put potato and pasta together its a good thing, a very good thing, gnochi. Just like the two ingredients go well together the cultures did, too. Now, there are whole generation or two that are irish italian. Its beautiful. Lord Bless them, and you too.
Two of the greatest entertainers of all time performing together. This is a real gem!
Bing Crosby was a good Irish Catholic.
When Dean Starts singing it is just effortless. Especially when he sings Oh Marie. Just such a perfect Singer, proud to be Italian 👌
WOW WOW WOW !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! From a 72yo Aussie fan.
Absolutely love them and all others from that time. There's too much crap coming out now. My generation is simply destroying music.
These old songs are hard to beat even in 2016 !!. Happy St- Patrick's to all my good friends !!.🍺🍷
Just the way Dean Martin makes it seem so easy when he sings. The way he can just carry his voice so softly! One of the best to ever live! Such a classy Gentlemen!👌 makes me proud to be Italian!😎
Mr Dean Martin...your voice will rivive hearts and souls for ages to come..🙌🙏
Sono Italiana, e questo filmato e' una perla rara... grazie per averlo postato! I'm Italian, and this video is a rare pearl... thanks for posting it!
These are my two favorite singers. How funny that I am Irish-Italian and never thought of the two of them as Irish and Italian, only each separate. Makes me even more proud to be Irish-Italian. Happy St. Patty's day tomorrow!

+Fortunata Pacheco That's not true. Ethnicity isn't just a birth status. It's about being part of a culture, or sub-culture, and maintaining that, along with a sense of identity for future generations. You aren't just born into an Irish or Italian heritage, if you are proud, you continue that heritage.

Totally agree but when you have traveled to America people Will say im Irish or Italian or any other European country and because they have great grand parents that come from these countries and drink Guinness or eat Pizza they believe that makes them so They have never traveled to these places and cant speak the language. People in Europe are amused by this.

Kevinch1 Absolutely. Dean himself was always very proud of his Italian heritage, and often said "That's who I am" I would imagine that he would give very short shrift to Fortunata Pacheco's little rant.
This duet hits on all cylinders, Irish and Italian!
And it ends with a smile and a handshake. Our grandparents got along why can't we?

This was lovely! Gee. What are the odds of seeing two greats together on a free television show anymore? First there would have to be two great entertainers who can actually sing!

His maternal great-grandfather, Dennis Harrigan, left Schull in West Cork in the 1830s. The family boarded a timber sailing ship and landed in New Brunswick.

Thank you Nicole for this piece of gold!
Awesome show. Great job!
We need more of this during this crazy time.
I always love seeing and hearing Bing Crosby and Dean Martin singing together. But I always remember that Bing Crosby didn't seem to want to be on stage with Jerry Lewis acting all crazy that one time many many years ago. LOL I'm glad that we were able to eventually enjoy these two great crooners singing together.
You'll never go wrong with Dean or Bing. Young people should take notice of them.

As much success and undeniable talent as Frank Sinatra had, privately he greatly envied the two gents in this video for the one thing that he lacked, impeccable comedic timing. Comedic timing was something Bing and Dean honed to a knife's edge by working as straight men for two of the wackiest comedians in history, Bob Hope in Bing's case and Jerry Lewis for Dino.

I worked an Italian-American, Danny Petrelli, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, 25 years ago, and he loved Dean Martin. Danny died a few months ago.
The world was a much kinder place back then....people had a sense of humor.......
I am a huge Dean Martin fan. the name in English is called lazy Mary it is a Dirty song. It's song with a sexual double sense. It's a dialogue between a girl and her mother. It is an old Italian folk song and yes is sung at many Italian wedding's not just in the godfather movie. I am part Italian and can't tell you how many weddings I have been to and the song was sung.

In several of Dean's appearances and also in his TV shows you can see and hear how Jerry( who is Jewish)rubbed of on him. Oh Marie is one of the songs he sang with Jerry on the Colgate Comedy Hour they hosted together. When Dean sang, " Oy vey Marie " I wonder if he was thinking of Jerry just then!!!
Being Italian-American I am always partial to the Italian; it is only natural though some nationalities have more to be proud of then others; truth hurts !
Fantastic clip! Makes me proud to be Italian American. It’s impossible to compete with Dino crooning in Italian, tho. Sorry Bing 🤷🏻♀️🇮🇹
"If you ever go across the sea to Ireland..." "Make sure you're Irish." I will never be able to think of that song the same now. lol

What a difference compared to the trash we have today.
what do you get when you put bing Crosby and the miller bros together that's right dean martin im not complaining though.
On his father's side, English, yeah, back to the Mayflower. But Irish on his mother's side. Bing's grandmother immigrated from Ireland in the 1800s.

If Dean had Sinatra's laser like focus and discipline as a perfectionist, he would have been the greatest vocalist of the 20th century.

The fact that Dean didn't try to be "perfectionist" is why he was so great as a performer and singer. Frank was too stiff in his delivery.

As Dean famously said, he hated "guys that sing seriously", of course jokingly referring to Frank, but I think he also meant it. And btw, that's why Dean WAS the greatest vocalist of the 20th century.
🍀
As much as I see Elvis early Elvis ,but Dean the greatest crooner ,he voice melts butter truly the singing voice of a angel
XD EPIC!
Someone could tell me what songs dean martin was singing? If so, i woud be really gratefull
"C'e La Luna Mezz'o Mare" or somesuch. Dean made a recording of it at one point. It's famously sung at the wedding celebration in The Godfather. Apparently the lyrics are quite dirty. That would probably be a good fact to know if you're ever tempted to sing along, haha.
👍👏👏👏👏❤❤❤❤
what is that Italian folk song that bing crosby teases dean with in the beginning?

of all the crooners in all the world... nobody and I mean NOBODY could out croon Deano.
"Torna a Surriento" / "Come Back to Sorrento"
Dean displaying his Yiddish fluency.
@perlen88 You're welcome! :)
🤴🤴 🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗
Lazy Mary is an old Italian song. It was recorded by Lou Monte in the 50's. It was not written for the Godfather movie. Crosby and Martin, how can you get any better. Well maybe when they included Sinatra.
Kiara Forsley: It's "La luna mezz' o mare" aka "Ue mamma, me voglio marita."
Did bing speak italian?
🤴🤴 😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁
Che la Luna menza mona mama mia. They sang this in the Godfather Movie when Mrs. Coleone sang with the older guy in the wedding scene.
what's the song Dean begins to sing at 1:00 ?
