From the very first note - this was magic. Plus l am understanding the meaning of the narrative more than l have with any other version of this song.

Have you EXPERIENCED his performance of “ THAT’s the way GOD PLANNED IT” at George Harrison’s “ CONCERT FOR BANGLA- DESH”?? .. If you haven’t.. I urge you all to see it!!!
Billy Preston has that churchy style. The intoduction tells the story. Great Musician Rest In Him
RIP Billy Preston! Great Gospel arrangement for this classic and very different from the string laden original Sam Cooke recorded of the song he wrote. I like both versions very much.
My favorite version!
why cant we be humble like mr billy preston
AMEN BRUTHA! There is no more SOUL in SOUL Music! So Sad!
Lovely song very beautiful
..and the change HAS come!
Master... R.I.P. forever!
Jeeze Billy, I didn't know you were so deep ! But, you are !! PEACE......
Love it. :) Ah, the memories.....
RIP, enjoyed this mans music.
I was born by the river in a little tent And just like the river, I've been running ever since It's been a long time coming But I know a change is gonna come It's been too hard living, but I'm afraid to die I don't know what's up there beyond the sky It's been a long time coming But I know a change is gonna come I go to the movie, and I go downtown Somebody keep telling me "Don't hang around" It's been a long time coming But I know a change is gonna come Then I go to my brother and I say, "Brother, help me please" But he winds up knocking me back down on my knees There've been times that I've thought I couldn't last for long But now I think I'm able to carry on It's been a long time coming But I know a change is gonna come

What a great tribute to Sam. Thanks Billy and you RIP in Soul heaven with Sam and Solomonand all thuse other great soul men who covered each others material not for the sake of outdoing them but as tributes o some of the greatest songs ever written. How many country songs did Solomon cover and ow many pop songs did Sam cover? Remember the Copa albums.
One of the all-time Greats in numerous genres of music.Check him out on Wikipedia. Can't add much except noticing his dedication to Atlanta's children who were dying almost daily then it seemed.Just a little insight into the PERSON he was.I grew up listening to him , SURE GONNA MISS YA BILLY.......R.I.P.......
I was born by the river in a little tent Oh and just like the river I've been running ev'r since It's been a long time, a long time coming But I know a change gonna come, oh yes it will It's been too hard living, but I'm afraid to die 'Cause I don't know what's up there, beyond the sky It's been a long, a long time coming But I know a change gonna come, oh yes it will I go to the movie and I go downtown Somebody keep tellin' me don't hang around It's been a long, a long time coming But I know a change gonna come, oh yes it will Then I go to my brother And I say brother help me please But he winds up knockin' me Back down on my knees, oh There have been times that I thought I couldn't last for long But now I think I'm able to carry on It's been a long, a long time coming But I know a change is gonna come, oh yes it will
Whoooooah✨
outstanding !
Preston was a first class songwriter. I like his version alot- he and Otis changed the song a bit to fit them. Right behind Sam of course.
