    I like that Bill exhibits a level of common sense. I am an American living in the UK and had to go back to the States this summer and I thought I would see transgender folks everywhere, people whinging about pronouns, and all sorts of madness and when I came in through ATL - a huge airport - it was the same old America, with nuclear families and people walking around, getting along. Same for my trip up to New England. It's social media that is the problem. America is still America, the land of opportunity, where people live in towns and cities, work, tend to their friends and families, the live free. Reduce Internet time, go get some sun, hang with loved ones, and live life. Thanks Bill for keeping it real and sane!

    @@Thesteadfast you’re not wrong but I think bill is kind of not in that lane as much as people give him credit for. Bill is a comedian first, and a lot of people who are pushing against or for the “woke” agenda wants to know everyone’s take or how their comedy can speak “truth to power” and I just don’t think that’s how bill sees comedy. There was a similar dynamic on rogan when these guys were on, I actually think it was the exact idea of one of them saying “comedy is speaking truth to power” and rogan quickly quipped back, correctly imo, that “comedy is what’s funny.” And I just think that idea isn’t triggernometrys brand. Bill just kind of does his own thing and if that touches into politics, alright, but I wouldn’t call him a “political” figure like most of the guests on triggernometry. A lot of the conservatives like bill because he “tells it like it is” and a lot of the libs like him because politically he does seem to lean more left. But like he’s just Bill. This at the beginning gave me similar vibes to the h3 bill burr podcast which was awkward af, but throughout the interview, and credit to the trig guys for doing this, the conversation steered less from current political affairs and ideas towards comedy from bills perspective. From that point on it was a splendid interview.

    What Burr said at 26:00 is something that I realised myself not to long ago. I had a very short tempered father growing up and I had children myself at a very young age, so I feel like my attempt at being a father was mimicking my dad. I don’t really have angry outbursts much any more but if I do I usually go and reconcile straight away. It really helps.

    I am so happy you all got Bill Burr on your show. I just love you both and Bill. Weirdly enough my son is around the same age as Bill and they both speak in the same irreverent, outrageous, yet hilarious manner. I laugh so hard at my sons rants that I cry. I told my son about Bill Burr and we watched one of Bills Netflix shows for the first time as we mourned the year anniversary of my grandaughter"s death Oct 16, 22. My son was amazed to find a guy as angry as himself and also trying to work with it. I had my son when I was 16, too young. I apologize all the time for being such an inexperienced stupid parent. I was so scared my kids would be taken from me by social services. I was always working and leaving them alone. Bill really puts perspective into his stories that help to explain how crazy life can be. My son is very worried that the youth today are so vapid and lack resilience. He thanks me and my husband( deceased) for the slaps in the head and says we should have been much harder on him. He tells me I had no idea what BS he was getting into as a kid. He still hasnt told me.

    Bill Burr's situation reminds me of Eminem's situation, funny enough. Both their fans want them to remain mad and bitter after both artists have found peace and stability in their lives. Bill and Eminem started out mad and bitter about something and they expressed that through their art. Their content changed after they've found peace and stability and people say they've become mellow. But I love their more chilled content as much as when they were still unhinged, so either way is a win for me, haha.

    The problem with interviewing successful comedians is they always talk about comedy and they've all got a similar sort of story it's interesting a few times but after a while it becomes the same. Now interviewing a cancelled comedian has a different subject but even that is starting to get old. I watch a bit of Joe Rogan now and then but I specifically avoid episodes with a comedian or with a martial artist because he's just going to talk about their shared experiences for a couple of hours.

    Stuff like Boyscast is funny because it's a duo, so they just riff. Comedians in therapy isn't interesting because they're not philosophers. A comedian breaks the status quo, which needs to be broken sometimes. Comedians aren't funny when they joke about stuff they don't understand (Schumer), or when they're afraid of the status quo (watch Bill too toe around the Gina Carano/Star Wars thing). It makes it boring and annoying.

    Bill's properly off the mark with some of what he's saying here. When you have 'fuck you' money there's no worrying about losing your job because of what you said or what opinions you hold. Love him but when you can afford to pay your bills & support your family for the rest of your life while never working again, of course you're gonna have freedom to say what you want & not worry about the consequences. Edit: Also incorrect on his certainty of over-population (there's a lot more to it) though I don't expect a comedian to have the answers to incredibly complex & nuanced issues such as that. Loved the rest of the interview, Listen to Burrs podcast every week & he's always funny af.

    Bill Burr used to be cool, but now he sucks and even his comedian friends are starting to express their disappointment with him. That is why he is so defensive and guarded in all his interviews. I think on some level he knows his critics are right. He basically became a mouth piece for his demented Feminist wife and the comedy he makes now sounds like "black woman comedy". He sounds like Wanda Sykes, only talking about how shitty white women are, but acting as if black women's shit wouldn't stink. It is the same thing that happened to Kevin Smith. Every time some decently cool and based normal dude marries one of those clueless ideologue, buzzword spouting Feminists, it is funny for a while, with them disagreeing on everything but still sticking it out together for some reason and he uses the dumb shit his wife says for comedy, until they have a daughter and suddenly the dude turns into a sad woke clown who acts as if the world and his friends around him would have changed to the worse and he is all enlightened now, while it is all just him being pussy whipped into idiocy.

    I don’t think this is fully accurate. It is more the state of mind that approaches vs not, meaning that the same person could approach sometimes and be annoying, while at other times they are in a better state and don’t. We all have both inside. The same person can be chill in KZread comments, fun on Tiktok, and then unleash anger on Twitter.

  • @AlecSorensen

    @AlecSorensen

    Жыл бұрын

    @@kenlewis2253 I think it is. For example, the same person that is chill on KZread might be someone I want to talk to at that moment, but because they are more grounded and don't need attention, they are less likely to engage. That person on Twitter, for some reason, is not grounded or balanced and craves attention, and becomes someone that is highly likely to engage but someone I would not enjoy talking to at that moment. The more a person NEEDS attention, the more likely they are to be possessed by a single idea, have a negative or unbalanced worldview, and want to take energy from people around them rather than give back. The more self-sufficient a person is, the more they have to offer, the more curious, open, and flexible they can be... but the less they need your specific attention.

    So many uneducated comments on here about Burr like the reason this interview wasn’t “smooth” is because Burr has “changed”. News flash, there are compilation videos of Burr from over ten years ago being way more aggressive and confrontational to interviewers than here. This has always been his style and it’s what made him the best comedian alive. With bill burr you get what’s in front of you. This is par for the course with him and it’s great. He roasts everyone and is always going to come across as the angry old bald Boston dude. If anything this interview is MORE friendly and mellow than it would’ve been years ago

    @@kenlewis2253 relax Ken. I just saw his standup routine last weekend and he had a ten minute bit about being old. And how when people call him middle age he tells them to do the math. 54x2 is 108 and he’s not making if that far. I don’t think 54 is elderly, I play soccer with dudes in their 50s who hold their own. But even bill would call himself an old guy

    Great interview. Enthralling, just like the Sam Harris interview. And I am not one of these tribal people who thinks "Oh, Sam Harris is so terrible now, he shouldn't be on the show". These guests all bring a different viewpoint and make you think about things.
