    He speaks fondly of wrestling all the time. I know he's spoken about watching WWF during the attitude era with Patrice O'Neal when they were comedians on the come up and then how Patrice got a job in WWF creative. He's a real fan.

    True story, I used to play in a band at this venue where 2 wrestlers would bartend. The one guy found out I'm a huge wrestling mark (hes still in the business so I won't say his shoot name) and asked me who my favorite wrestler was. Without any hesitation and in my best cuban accent I told him, "Razor Ramon, Chico." To which he slapped me in the stomach and put me in the Razors Edge. Now up until this point it was the coolest thing that ever happened to me. There I was in the crucifix powerbomb and just as he was going to let me go (not actually delivering the move mind you) my dumbass friend bumped into us with an amplifier causing the bartender/wrestler to lose his grip and drop me back first on said amp. Since that day my back has never been the same, it was 15 years ago. From that moment any miconceptions I had from my grandparents saying "they know how to fall so they are safe doing big moves" was shattered, much like my back. It made me a bigger fan without a doubt.

    The worst move that I ever took as a kid was a DDT from my older brother's friend, who was about 8 years my senior. My head planted into the living room floor so hard that it forced me to do the lawn dart sell where I went a perfect 90 degrees and landed onto my back. I was knocked out for about a good five minutes and had to have my neck cracked to unjam it. The stiffness and pain stayed with me for a considerable amount of time.

    Funny story, for some reason it came to be that getting slapped by Antonio Inoki in Japan was good luck or a show of respect that kind of imbued you with fighting spirit. Many people would come up to Antonio Inoki and ask to be slapped by him. A former UFC champion, Lyoto Machida used to fight in Pride FC in Japan. After one of his matches, Inoki was impressed by his performance. He met Machida outside of the ring and slapped the hell out of him. Machida did not know about this tradition and just took the slaps from him and bowed.

    The wrestler he's talking about, Antonio Inoki, also "fought" Muhammad Ali, back in the 70's. If I remember it correctly, as soon as the bell rang, Inoki fell on his back and just kicked Ali's legs, repeatedly. I actually think it may have done some very real damage and possibly contributed to Ali's decline. I also believe the "fight" was declared a draw.

    I have no idea what the rules were for the "fight". It was long ago, but I do seem to remember Ali, and everyone else for that matter, being upset at the way Inoki refused to get up. Are you suggesting that Inoki was only allowed to lie on his back and kick Ali's legs? I doubt Ali would've ever signed up for that.

  • @ThePandaBrawler

    @ThePandaBrawler

    6 жыл бұрын

    Apparently what happened is that Ali and his people thought that it was just going to be a show, kinda like pro wrestling. But Inoki said he was actually going to fight Ali. So they had to renegotiate the rules of the fight and told Inoki that he couldn't grapple and can only kick with one knee on the mat. This all happened just a few days before the fight. Basically it was either Inoki tries boxing with Muhammad Ali or go for leg kicks while laying down.

  • @scottavenged7x
    @scottavenged7x Жыл бұрын

    Inoki is a mean dude. A guy you really don't wanna get pissed off, but as long as his opponent plays the game he will too. The moment he gets a whiff of a shoot you better believe he's about to beat your ass bloody.

He dropped Perry Saturn on his head after a snapmare takedown, causing Saturn to literally just see red, lose his mind and beat him senseless. Saturn, years later, has said how sorry he is to Mike Bell. He says he actually threw him out of the ring so he could keep himself from beating up Mike more than he already had.

    Japan has the toughest wrestlers in the world. They are bat shit crazy and have been ahead of the industry for it. They're still rock stars over there, compared to the mid-level success in entertainment it is in most other countries at best. They just lay in to each other with everything and it's hard to go "this is fake" because they're really beating the shit out of each other, even though it is a scripted feud.

It was a huge mistake for him to no-sell Antonio Inoki and try to shoot on him. After the beating that the Great Antonio took from Inoki, it’s no wonder that he finally retired from pro wrestling.
