Bikepacking North Holland to Friesland- Ronde van Nederland -Folding bike The Netherlands

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Riding a folding bike around the Netherlands, camping out, what we eat on a cycle tour, generally bikepacking on a low budget, bike touring ronde van Nederland!
We take the bus across the Afsluitdijk, fix a tire, Catch a train, camping out, navigation, wild camping plus of course lots of riding folding bikes in this episode.
The north of Holland and Friesland is a great place to ride a bike. With fantastic infrastructure for cycling, and generally flat topography the North Holland and Friesland offer nice country riding. Cycle through tulip fields in spring and dairy farming country dotted with windmills. The Netherlands is easy riding due to it being flat but also very well connected by cycle paths( fietspads) and trains. Getting provisions is simple as there are shops and supermarkets in each town and also bike shops to get your bike fixed if necessary. I would recommend cycling in the Netherlands to beginner cycle tours and advanced riders, you will enjoy riding in this fantastic cycling paradise!
Camping het bos roept is the very nice campsite featured in this film www.hetbosroept.nl/nl/accommo...

You don't have to spend hundreds to get a folding bike that you can use for an international cycle tour. Second hand folding bikes can be excellent value if you are prepared to do any repairs yourself! Small repairs and replacing any worn out parts can be done with simple tools and these light weight bikes can be stored easily in a cupboard or under a bed.

They shure take good care of their people in the Netherlands. Good and simple directions for travel, beautiful camp sites, buses to bring your bicycle on. What a wonderful place, it's like a dream.

Only pity that they closed up the bike lane on the Afsluitdijk for a year because of road renovations for the cars so you take the free bus

Too bad the Afsluitdijk was closed for bikes (renovation work & making the dyke higher) when you visited. There should be at least 2 bike stores in Harlingen as there are in most dutch towns, they typically also do repairs and sell tires etc. You should not have to travel to Leeuwarden for a tire. Glad you still enjoyed it :-)

The Afsluitdijk was very impressive & I would love to cycle it next time I visit! As far as bike shops yes we found one that didn’t have 20” tire we needed so we pushed on. Also I’m a typical Kiwi all about keeping the cost low and DIY! Cheers for watching

That’s from the afsluitdijk, closed to cyclists but there is a bus that takes the bikes across about 18km from one side to the other, it’s free too

Don’t tell me that there were no cycling shops in Harlingen. It’s enough of a town to have a few of those. And neighboring town Franeker has some as well.

What a great video! How far do you ride on a big day? It seems I cannot ride more than about 35 miles in a day because I have to stop and look at everything and eat at all the places and talk with all the people.
