Yeah, casually threatening to sexually assault someone as a "joke" is a pretty big red flag. Least ways sounds like holding someone down to inspect their genitals is sexual assault of some sort.

Spontaneous Hat Level 1 Conjuration Spell Casting Time: 1 Action Materials: V, S Range: Self Duration: Until Dispelled Either through a misunderstanding, clever bout of wordplay, or good fashion sense, you interpret the definition of what the Weave is in a less than accurate way. By bending the magical strands around you, you create a hat that appears atop your head. You can choose any aspect of the hat’s appearance, including material, colors, design, accessories, or size. The hat cannot change it’s appearance after being initially summoned, unless the spell is recast. However, the spell will magically repair any physical damage it receives after a minute, as the Weave reshapes itself to fit its new form. The hat summoned by the spell will remain in the material plane until the caster decides to dispel it, another force dispels the magic, or if it enters an anti-magic zone. Casting from 2nd Level and Above: You can create an additional hat for every level you upcast this spell. They do not have to have the same appearance, but they follow every other established function as normal.

Honestly Hank had problems going beyond all his "isms" and it was more then "because he hated OP" but more because "he hated having no control" (hence threatening before attacking OP like he assumed nobody would have interfered where "shock of shocks" they did!) Seriously as Introvert as I am, I've grown weary to bulling tactics like Hank did, and I'm a BIG Man myself! The moment a threat came out of his mouth that was THAT direct "in a joking manner" so to would a counter threat from me "in a joking manner" would have been made (if one can do it in such a way, so too can I). I've learned that when people get that aggressive, their NEVER joking, so I return it in kind! Especially if another in a group I'm in gets such treatment for no good reason! But really I don't tolerate open "ism' like Hank. By that I mean they're open even if passive aggressive with that behavior and act like they can throw their weight around with it! Frankly speaking letting him get away with much of that behavior is likely WHY he assumed it was okay to do so looking at his shock he did what he did! Even though I have to wonder WHY THE FUCK HE THOUGHT HE COULD ATTACK OP WITHOUT A RESPONSE! (Screw two polar bears fighting, I would have shown what happens when TWO POLAR BEARS TAG TEAM ON ONE! And the fight would have been over there and then for Hank, Not hitting him since I'm a grappler, but it would be over there and then!) A reminder to people that even when morons abuse the hell out of descriptions like "phoba's" and "isms" (Racism, ETC) to suit whatever need they need it to be to label people WHO AREN'T SUCH! There ARE people like Hank out there. And you do have to let them know that behavior like what he did will NEVEr be tolerated! I'm talking about the threatening and physical violence! You can hate me and call me the N-Word to the cows come home. I've grown to the point "words from worthless people" (Read NO ONE I GIVE A FUCK ABOUT WHO HAVE DONE ME NO GOOD!) will never hurt me compared to sticks and stones (only "people I do care about" can hurt me with words if I'm not prepared obviously). But the moment you try to put into practise harming me and mine! Your DONE simple and clear. Not killing you done. More your a DEAD person to me in the "who cares for the dead" way. NOW fuck off! Just had to say it because I've dealt with people like Hank in the past! Not the ism shit, but the "think they can walk around threatening and attacking people" kind! I never cared much as despite being big, I was a quick motherfucker and always outwitted and outran them LOL. But when one cornered me thinking it "be easy beating the shit out of me!" Well, Lets just say I was playing football at the time this happened (Middle School) and was a Center/Linebacker and this guy was fucking SHORT compared to me (had a complex about his size compared to me, his favorite insult to me was "Big for nothing") lets just say I picked his ass up like a fucking rag doll and tossed him from wall to wall! Little shit could only taunt back afterwards like that little shit from Kung Pow: Enter the Fist ("I got hit more, making me the victor") where he acted like HE had me on the ropes (The only thing he could do was, I was wearing my coat at the time, it was a "trench coat" as it was a cold winter at the time! I had it un-zipped so all he could do was grab the sides and lift it over my head, not that it saved him as over my head meant the coat was TO THE SIDE OF MY HEAD, which didn't obscure my view and still resulted in me doing Hulk's "puny gods" smackdown on him before that was even a thing LOL). It's why I dislike "proving myself" cause I realize, some people are pieces of shit! "Proving myself" will do nothing. It might even make them more determined to beat me down. Which is why I just stopped caring what they think of me (the little shit was reduced to acting tough and insulting me from a distance or surrounded by his friends, but never ever comforted me directly AGAIN. Also proving at least some are smart to know when their out classed and keep their distance!). But yeah, sadly sometimes the threat of force can be used for good! Not that Hank seemed smart enough to let that deter him (some people are just stupid enough to think people are willing to bluff with them till he threat is follow through! Happens when they've lived in their own bubble where they think reality can't reach them.....and learn it CAN) But yeah, as you said, NO D&D is better then BAD D&D. And I know how they felt wanting to be part of a group and ignoring warning signs as I also did something that stupid (which was another reason I became how I am) just to fit in! Boy did reality punish me for it that I had a "My God What have I become!" I guess we all run into that moment that tries and scare us straight....some like me realize this and back away (originally out of cowardice in my case, but I realize for one cowardice was a GOOD THING LOL). Others double down and think nothing bad will happen and suffer....just to be brought back to this choice again. But if they failed to take the option the first time. They'll likely keep choosing to "double down" and make it worse and worse for themselves! Some people are just not worth the effort as someone once said "I'd rather BE alone, then be around someone who'd make me FEEL like I'm alone!" and I'd rather accept solitude then waste my time with fools where nothing was earned or gained for me! Glad OP walked away from this group in the end

Not the most concise laying out of a position but heartfelt and I must say I concur. I'm less good at ignoring cruel and bigoted language though, not just to me, but against other people, I find exposure to such language wears on my mind and leaves me emotionally exhausted. Not to mention if that language becomes too prevalent in a space, it has a silencing effect on those it targets.

I'm really confused by this story. The OP outright mentioned how Gordon, the DM, is anti-Trans, Homophobic and racist, stays with a group of people that, by their description, all sound like a biker gang with everyone near 7 feet tall and Harry is the bad one and Gordon is...good? I'm really confused in all this. If the OP respects Gordon to the point to "bow down" to his world building and ignore all the phobias to the point that he mentioned pinning the OP down and assaulting them (and OP brushing that off), but when Harry actually does it... there are too many unanswered questions in this... that or this is a fake story.

  • @littlestrawberryfaery

Sounds like op is just used to transphobia maybe a family conditioned thing? I'm trans and came from a really transphobic family myself. As a lil kiddo I once respected transphobes and made excuses for them cause I was taught that and so I wouldn't get hurt. It kinda feels like that from op.

The D&D community is full of a lot of incels and nice guys both groups that have big issues with the lgbt+. { the D&D community isn't fully bad or nothing but there are nasty ppl in the community.} This also happens outside D&D as well I've had people in such things as the oracle and witchcraft community get violent or agressive over me being trans and queer for some weird reason they've made up in their heads. Anti-LGBT+ ppl will come up with any and all excuses to get violent with lgbt+ ppl.

@@littlestrawberryfaery I disagree. Fantasy games are an excellent outlet for people on nearly any 'fringe' of local society, as it's based on being basically someone else for a time. Whether that be a better version of themselves, sex, ect. (It's a long list, not putting it all here). Done right it can really help with such things as social skills once good habits are transferred to real life after practice in a 'safe' environment. Real-life applications aside, D&D is very accepting of people. Much like an MMO, as long as you're not a dick IC or OOC most don't care what you are - unless a literal goblin wanted to play, then they'd try to 'adopt' it just as fast as in-game, heh. Are there still assholes in there? Of course there are, there's always some. The thing is that this has become the new 'Karen' post. "So all my table is LGBTQIA++, and then misgendering happened!" with little-to-no context. It's cookie-cutter and after a while these stories get trite and increasingly hard to believe.

In regards to the last story, like doge said, assault is assault. The reason is completely irrelevant and you had multiple witnesses present, who were also pushing for the police to be called. This is the typical victim mentality of 'oh poor me, I'm so persecuted' but then they don't want to do anything about it. If you're scared enough to take extra steps to lock your doors and windows(something pretty common anyway, regardless of the scenario) then you're obviously more interested in the attention, hence why OP went to reddit to garner sympathy. Anyone else notice that like 90% of these horror stories are from the same types of people that play victim and cry for attention both IRL and online?

It's a mental condition/illness for sure, and I those people shouldn't be encoraged to "live it out" but instead they should seek help. That being said, I would never curse or straight out attack/assault such an individual. That's beyond fucked up, especially if it's done unprovoked/not in self defense. That dude deffinitely should have notified the police since that assailant had deffinitely issues himself and was acting violent/lashed out for no god damned reason.

The way OP described it, they just enjoy presenting however they want and dressing however they want. That's not defined anywhere as mental illness and doesn't even encompass gender dysphoria like what I have, so maybe don't?

Ever wonder how much you harm someone by slapping the mental illness label on them? Hm, it's almost like mental illness only applies when said person can't distinguish between reality and fiction, be it any of the five senses. Being gender fluid doesn't mean you think you can magically snap and have different genitals every other hour. It simply means you change what you present as. Besides, any self-respecting psychologist would be encouraging your identity.
