Stoked that I'm certain, CERTAIN that folks that see this that don't already lift on the regular will see the joy that can come from it. It's THE BEST one-player sport: it's just you vs gravity / you vs yesterday-you. And you get to watch that progress in tangible numbers. Setting that time aside for yourself, the dopamine hit of a PR, the moments of pure-meditative-focus mid-lift... it's a hell of an anti-depressant. So yeah, brothers and sisters and others, try it. Just... give yourself a couple months. Try it.

For all these strength competitions, you need to have a category that measures strength pound for pound against lifter’s weight. Naturally a bigger person will lift more so it’s already stacked against the smaller guys

4 or 5 years ago i remember a few months after i started working out i was 230 lbs and could only bench 200 for my max 3 or so months before it was only 150 so it was good progress but ive always been an agressive bike rider and i ran a ton never as a sport because of my asthma but somehow i was able to do a 400lb back squat my first time ever squatting heavy i was so proud apparently my weak spot is my triceps and chest but i can do it i let myself go because of horrible life events that broke me down im just now starting to get back into it ive lost alot of my strength and gained probably 70lbs the hardest part is the motivation to keep going lets get those gains yall being healthy feels so much better you need that energy to survive
I mean you look at the guys who can bench 300+, they're huge. Should be no surprise that guys who look like they can press 300 and over can actually do it.
