I remember the day our small California company had 2 of these 1983 Pete cabovers delivered, so modern and beautiful with those rectangle headlights and single 3 wiper windshield. A Cat 3406 and 13spd had me feeling like king of the road, and the sweet crackle of that engine idling made me a legend in my own mind upon arrival.

3:24 As a boy I would climb all over my dad's K100 like it was monkey bars at a playground. When I went on the road one summer he gave me the handle Bunk Monkey cause there wasn't a place I couldn't get to. Glad to see people still keeping cab overs alive. They're a rare breed these days.

I've licence that covers up to semi trailers but getting into owner operator game here would be a fight of its own with all the regulations, certifications, environmental, health and safety crap and so on... cab overs without air suspensions will beat the hell out of you. in a conventional, you are sitting between the steer and drive axles so the bumps are minimal...in a COE- you are over the front tire so you get the maximum effect of all the bumps. so if you do not have air suspension on the truck chassis and then an air ride seat you better have a piss bottle handy because your kidneys and bladder are gonna keep you busy.last COE i drove had all the air softeners so it was like i was sitting idle but the windshield and steering wheel were dancing. another thing you notice real quick is the position of your seat when making hard turns like at intersections..you are actually 5-6 feet further out into the intersection before you start your turn. i learned to drive in a cab over and what i really liked was the fact that i did not have that huge blind spot in front of the bumper (14 foot blind spot on my brothers w900 as an example ). i also enjoyed the shorter wheel base so backing was easier for this rookie . you can get the idea of what i am describing by simply driving a full size pickup and then driving a isuzu 1 ton.....scaled down but the behavioral differences are just about the same .@@Duff20

There’s been a big resurgence of cabover lovers lately, especially for the older trucks. Nice lookin working girl u got there. Buff that old paint, polish that aluminum, add more chrome and some assorted chicken lights and u have yourself a show girl. Overhaul that drive train and she'll serve you well and pack $$$ in your bank account.
