The Big Head Todd and the Monsters live double album Joe Dirt Car has to be in the car on road trips. HAS TO be in the car. I sing along to keep myself awake. Came here after listening to the hold Music for Mini USA (car company) and thier hold music was playing a blatant rip off of this song. Needed a palate cleanse.

1992, leaving Colorado and moving to Charleston SC in my Cherokee with a cassette player with one tape, Bittersweet by BHT. I must have listened to that 20 times on repeat! I saw them at the Windjammer on Isle of palms SC when they would play 2 nights in the early 2000's for many years. I'm 53 now and damn I'd wish I could see em again. Great memories

I first heard them 1990 where I lived in Boulder Colorado on KBCO. Got to see them for the first time two nights ago in Portland Maine, made me happy and homesick for Boulder.

I remember seeing this guy at the first or second HORDE Festival in 1992 in Phila. They put on a great show. It was a great day seeing Big Head Todd and the Monsters, Blue Traveler and the Allman Brothers. I was taken there for my birthday. Was a great day.

I saw them in concert a couple nights ago in Portland Maine. I'm from Boulder Colorado and have been a fan since hearing them back in 1990 on KBCO! Todd looks today what he looked liked in 1990 and voice is just as strong!!!

This song takes me back to college days...local pubs, local bands, just sitting outside and people watching. Cold brew, wings and friends....

For some odd reason this song feels like it suits my husband and I and it has since I heard it. 28 yrs strong. Its always a balance. ❤

I hope all is still well

I remember it being summer, I was 18, and my best friend and I lived together. We would blast this album and just sing, it was truly a magical time in my life, so carefree.. oh so many years later, my baby is about to graduate next year and I’m attempting to get back to the carefree fun life I used to live.. obviously not as careless. Hahah. What an amazing band, I’ve seen them several times and listen to them almost daily.

First heard this song while watching the movie “Things To Do In Denver When You’re Dead”. From then had to find it and add it to my iTunes library 📚. Put it as the first song 🎵 on a new playlist and worked out on the elliptical to it. I probably spent most of the hour listening 👂🏾 to this song and Orleans’ “Love Takes Time”. Amazing how great tunes 🎵 can keep you zoned in even while your heart rate is in the higher ranges.

I have loved this song probably since before some of you were born. I like you're interpretation. My first concert was 1996 think,

So im about the biggest BHTM nerd/ fan there is, and if you wonder why the band never made their own music video for this song; Todd spoke about it in an interview back then. MTV was huge back when Sister Sweetly came out, and it was supposed to be the break through album for the band, Bittersweet being the big single. MTV was so big back then that if you didn't have a video to go with your new song, chances were it was never going to really 'break'. So Todd and the boys had a big record company behind them, they had Prince's producer come in and produce the album, and once Bittersweet was chosen as the single, the plan was to make the MTV video and go on to superstardom. However, Todd being the book lover he is, didn't want the song to be determined by one person's vision. He wanted each listener to be able to relate the song to their own life, and for them to create their own visions based on the lyrics and music, just like you would when reading a book as opposed to watching a movie. So, Todd put the kibosh on the idea of a video for that song because of his artistic beliefs, even if it meant he was hampering his own success. In that sense, this video made by a well meaning fan is kind of going against what the artist who wrote the song wanted.
