The Caracal is beautiful, but I think his daddy is either overfeeding him or not giving him enough exercise. Let him run around outside and play and cut back on his eating. This beautiful kitty will be healthier, happier and live longer.

Yeah definitely over weight

He's SO beautiful, but he's a VERY big boy. He does need an exercise regime for his own good. That's a lot of cat being carried on his ankles, hips & shoulders - could lead to joint damage & arthritis, which would be unfair on him. I didn't realise caracals hiss as part of their communication - That's fascinating!

He has it too good. He gets all he wants to eat without having to hunt for any of it. Most caracals have a hunting range that covers dozens if not hundreds of miles which they traverse on a regular basis just to feed themselves.

A cat is a cat no matter size and he seem to have a lot to share with his papa. Mostly is about his cat siblings not giving him enough kisses and his mam not giving as much treat as he wished for.

Please don't give him so much food, I imagine the pain in his knees will start later, he is very beautiful

Yes they do. They communicate with humans as best they can but people misunderstand and assume the hissing is aggressive. It's fear stress or if they are not feeling well or just mimicking and trying to communicate.

Yes, he's far too big, he must be in such discomfort. I know that I am when I am just a few pounds more, and it's not about my clothes, but my movement and being the wrong shape for my structure. It is also bad for Floppo's heart and circulation; he needs exercise and if his dad can't do it, maybe someone else can help? Ideally he would be better in a refuge for wildlife, but it would break dad's heart. Can we find a volunteer to get him running on a treadmill or a giant cat wheel twice a day?? Everyone would be better!!! He's a beautiful cat and he's worth it!!!

I read that the hissing of a Caracal is not a warning like a domestic cat but just a way of comminication. I guess that is right as this cat hisses a lot but never strikes out or puts his ears back.

Yes he’s dangerously obese but I think now he’s on a diet, am I correct, owners? Also, does he EVER go out to get exercise and fresh air?

Big cats do not mistake people for food, even in the wild. And this cat is tame. But he should live with people who have a fenced in yard for him, for his own health and exercise. Many cats do not like to walk on a leash.

Yes but they are somewhat unhealthy, on the obese side. In the wild they would not be carrying that amount of weight around. And as I was thinking this, I thought to myself "I bet you get the cat more food" and you did to keep them well appeased. If you love them then you'd ensure they didn't get this overweight cos eventually they are going to feel awful and they don't speak your language plainly. Yes there's love between you but the best love is understanding healthy boundaries for our children whether human, cat or dog etc. Nice Channel by the way.

His human has let him get TOO unhealthy in his weight. A Caracal is not built for twice his weight. Shame on that man, I know he loves his cat, but this is out of control.

I have to wonder how this wild animal came to be a household pet. The environment and the cat's physical appearance contributes to a possibility of abuse without malice.

I don't know why people think it's cute to make their pets fat, it shortens and makes their life more difficult

I get that we love our pets so much we want to feed them and feed them. The only thing worse than seeing an obese animal is seeing emaciated animals that are neglected. We have to be AWARE enough to find a happy medium when caring for our fur babies! This cat needs a lifestyle change for sure…. he’s too chunky!

I always feel a little sad for Gosha's dad; Gosha doesn't seem to allow him those hardcore cuddles, like he does his mom. It's more of a cerebral contact with dad. They've got their "karr"-training going. 😁

They're really unique among cats, No matter how semidomesticated they become, Much of their communication and engagement is so... Idk, Primal? Ferocious? Aggression is their love language kinda thing, Unlike lions and cheetahs which will play tackle you or lick you until you're bleeding lol I mean lions give you love bellows, Caracal's hiss and at you like they wanna kill you, Same level of love, Just different forms of expression,... Also in either case they can both really hurt you lol

This cat has thyroid disease and is now living outside. Dieting and exercising did not work for Gosha. She was formally abused and these people take in wild abused cats.
