BIg Block Mopar:Truck OIl Pan and Windage Tray Installed!

This the fifth video in a series of how to build a Big Block Mopar Engine. Using the steps in this series, you can build a big block Mopar at home. The engine being built is a 1970 RB 413 engine from a motorhome. I will be converting this engine into a nice street cruiser for a 74' model Dodge D100, that makes great torque and is very streetable. ‪@SummitRacing‬ will hopefully fix the part number discrepancies in the Milodon Oil Pan parts!
OIl pan and Windage Tray installed today.

    Perfect install, I've seen what happens when someone squeezes a ton of RTV into the motor. Instantly packs off the sump when they Rev up the motor. Great job Joe! One and done!

    Great job not over RTVing the pan just enough to get a good seal, and not getting some much on that it clogs the pickup by squishing out, all the newbies should take note!

    I’ve done both ways. Glued it to pan with yellow dog, and used rtv to pan side. Or Rtv to both sides of gasket. I’ve even copper coated both sides with the spray can and butter had an issue. I think it’s personal preference. Rtv always at any gaps or joints

    How tight do you tighten the bolts?

  • @JustMoparJoe

    @JustMoparJoe

    4 ай бұрын

    Always tightened by hand, I feel for it to start getting tight, and then watch the gasket. When the rtv begins squeezing out, I stop. If you go too much, the gasket will push out. You can see the gasket push out a slight amount, that’s normal. There is a factory torque spec in inch pounds out there, but I’ve never used it.
