I love this serial because of its acting and director. One big mistake of the episode was Tippu died on battlefield. He was one of the two kings who died on battlefield.

It was great Shivaji who fought against brits French Nizam Adil and Mughals still he built his own army navy and his kingdom. He never befriended any of them and fought one at a time with his wisdom and bravery. Tipu failed may be due to his wrong timing or perhaps bad decisions.

And he also fought against Portuguese, British, french and in fact habashis from Africa for safety of kokan coastal region. Who is that who stopped them expanding goan colony to whole konkan region? Brits and French were not really enemies of Marathas and they were not strong in India at that time . They were mostly into trade . Europeans used to sell Guns , Cannons and even swords to Marathas .

It's cause is disputed, however it is generally agreed by historians[4] that it was purely due to religious reasons, as Tipu stated : "To spare them was mercy, to honor them with Islam a favor. No fault being imputed except them being Christians."

I am a Mangalorean Catholic and I belive the captivity of the Canarese people by Tipu Sultan was purely political. The Mangaloreans were citizens of Mysorean kingdom however they helped the British when they arrived in Mangalore. Mangalore was a crucial port city of Mysorean kingdom and Tipu even had many battle ships there. It was indeed a very important port and the English had their eye on it. The English got help from the local people in return of goods and guided them through treacherous routes and jungles. They even provided them food grains for the way. This help was also based on religious sentiments. A plate found from a captive English soldier revealed the help from the Canarese people and Tipu was indeed furious on his own people for their betrayal. Hence he used the religious-political way to teach them a lesson. One must also remember that the palace courtiers used to compose literature to praise their monarchs and Tipu's court was no exception. He was not a religious bigot. His father Hyder Ali was a great friend of Fr. Miranda and because of him Tipu's soldiers spared the Hospet church. The famous Ranganatha Swamy temple was just a stones through away from his Srirangapatna palace and Tipu has offred many religious gifts there. Even he had good relationship with the Sringeri swamiji whom he referred as Jagad-guru.

But that was during the time of Hyder Ali ( because they hated Hyder Ali, though I don't know why as Hyder Ali was very tolerant). He consulted a Portuguese officer to decide on the matter. The Portuguese told Hyder Ali to punish them with death, but he didn't do it. On the other hand Tipu Sultan was a bigot. He persecuted Hindus and Christians.

When nadir shah invaded by invitation of Mughal king .. lakhs of people in Delhi died.. when his successor Ahmed shah abdali invaded India. Yamuna river was red for weeks together by blood of Indians... Almost 1 lakh Maratha and 40 thousand sikh got killed by his invasion .. And this Tippu asked the Sultan of Afghanistan.. Durrani empire to invade india again.. and wen Zaman shah invaded.. thankfully sikh intercepted them and made sure that they did not enter india else there would be another blood bath because of Tippu Sultans invitation in southern India.

Even now we Pakistan n India are engaged in war they should solve their issue by dialogue for the prosperity of the region
