Zizya is imposed on non-muslim subjects for protection and letting them earn and for the benefit of the Islamic subjects. If a Muslim ruler only take Jizya but refuses the true Zakat system then he is committing a grave sin and is a corrupt ruler he is. Also you can say that Zakat only imposed on wealthy or rich muslim but Jizya is for all this can also be a rule for muslim ruler is in his reign he should make the living standards of all muslims high so that they can give Zakat. If any muslim is hungry or any non-muslim who pays Jizya hungry then the Ruler is a sinner.

Don't get fooled by the maps on Wikipedia. Ashoka's large empire was extremely decentralized with hardly any strong control over the substitutes. It was more or less like a confederacy not an empire.

Ups and downs are the natural phenomena of human history. The power and the money never stay in the hands of one dynasty, one group, one community or one kind of people all the time. They shift side from here to there and from there to some other places. The Muslims must work hard to capture the hearts and minds of Indian people by their benevolence. The Muslims must must maintain their dominance in Hindustan by their philanthropic activities.

Spending time in Deccan and not respecting Marathas enough was Aurangzeb's biggest mistake. If Aurangzeb and Shivaji worked together, India's History would have been totally Different.

Listen bro, the problem is entirely scratched by opportunist politicians in the court of Mughals, Adil Shahis and Maratha empires. Shivajis war was with the Adil Shahis which Aurangzeb never liked but tolerated because of his fathers agreement with the sultans. Dara always insulted Aurangzeb in the mughal court and made him look guilty infront of Shah Jahan all the time for that reason, Aurangzeb never attacked the Adil Shahis when he was the Governor of Deccan. But as emperor he took the Sultanate for himself and the rest went to Shivaji which Shivaji won. Aurangzeb also took the sultanates from other deccan sultans too. After that he almost made Mughal rule to almost 90% of India apart from Shivaji and Shiks. So, when Shivaji wanted to establish his own independent rule Aurangzeb said it will be possible only if Shivaji accept the sovereignty of the Emperor which he declined and started the tension. Apart from that Aurangzeb always respected the courage of Marathas. He worked with various maratha sardars.
