    This is such a perfect demonstration of the entire breadth of the game. Seems like high-level 1v1 on large maps really lets the game flex its muscles. 2v2 is also probably excellent.

    BAR pro-cards when? In all seriousness this is fantastic content, it's great to see you hyped for a game and really dive into it. This really brings me back to playing Supreme Commander, but now with the adult eyes of "oh this is how you actually get good at vidya game". Your casts are great, you're a credit to the RTS genre.

    Its worth to mention that Teddy had to play until early in the morning cause of timezone difference. Epic match, but he definetely did way more mistakes than usual. I hope the next tournament goes over multiple weeks instead of pushing it all into one day, for fairness sakes.

    Truly an epic game. This is what TA always dreamed of becoming. Kudos on MightySheep for securing the front line, laying minefields, staggering his defenses, and transitioning hard into a runaway economy. At a certain point Teddy was unable to push any fronts with T2, but by then it was too late and MightySheep was already switching to T3. Just goes to show that tactics win battles, but stratagem wins wars.

    I think there's a reason so many ARM players open Land; because Pawns vs Grunts isn't generally viable between players of similar skill, so the Core players have an advantage early on when versing Arm players. They don't have to scout as much and they have more viable openers. Until this is fixed, 1 v 1 will remain where it is. Mostly Core v Core. :shrug:

    Sheep is macroing like a FAF player. This game will never come close to matching the scale of FAF battles, but it's still pretty cool. "It wasn't over until that juggernaut touched grass." Nah, this game was over the moment Teddy allowed Sheep to gain a runaway economic growth rate. Sheep would have had to screw up monumentally to lose at that point.

    Armada advanced fusion are much more expensive than Cortex ones, for the same amount of energy produced, that's why Teddy was only building basic ones. If you got the space, you should never build Armada AFUS. Of course in team games that's not the case. But 1v1 yes.

    Yes but tbh anti-nuke is so cheap and easy to build that it's not really a viable strategy, considering it depends entirely on you never being scouted. There's also something to be said about how such a strategy might negatively impact your army production too. In my own experience from trying this against friends, it just leads to a very silly exchange where both sides impotently fire dozens of nukes at each other at once to no effect on either side. It doesn't help that there are mobile anti-nukes as well which can complicate efforts to snipe the anti-nukes and create and opening.

    This will probably be a great game, but it will find no place in esports. Too zoomed out, probably. People want to see the nitty gritty stuff. But maybe casters will figure out how to do both. I'd love to be proven wrong. Winter's definitely getting better at it. And not every game needs to aspire to be an esport anyway.

  • @shadow7988

    @shadow7988

    IMO esports is highly over-rated and is only relevant for like 3-4 games anyway. Not worth chasing after, no one is going to pull off another League of Legends, DotA, or PUBG. Even Starcraft was never particularly big. Better to focus on just making a fun game. It just takes too many things to fall perfectly into place along with a large element of luck to have a game successfully become an 'esport'. Especially for 1v1, there's basically NO 1v1 games that have garnered large esports audiences, hence why Starcraft's scene was almost entirely centered in South Korea.
