They should do this at every Oscar In Memorium.

I think what makes it more touching is that it was done during the tribute to the Academy members who had left us during the past year and that a lot of them were heroes to us that are missed.

Dear God! This song came to my mind this afternoon and I remembered it as "Hero." I love this "older Bette Midler" version, which is so tender and from the heart. I used to dislike her singing of it in the 1980's and I repent!

Seen her in concert twice and she has helped me in my saddest times etc she has stood number one in my heart for over 20 years I have a connection to her songs if I am ever in pain I play her songs and if I ever want to cheer my self up I only play Bette movies so when the time comes I will be so heartbroken to the core because she has helped me so much more then Bette Midler will ever know

Bette midler is a true icon and Devine I fell in love with her songs when I first heard wind beneath my wings when 3 years old but I didn’t get into her movies and songs till 2001 when I endured heartache and heart brake know she is a big part off my life I absolutely adore her I’m her biggest fan

I was watching this broadcast live when Bette sang this song. I have never seen "Beaches," but I love this song. I was in tears watching Bette's passionate performance of this... especially after the montage of all those we lost that year.
