I saw Janis Joplin on 8/16/1969. Her setlist included Summertime, Kosmic Blues, Piece of My Heart & Ball and Chain. In the intervening 54 years, I haven't felt that vibe again. I just discovered Beth Hart this week. The vibe is back!

Having been a teen musician in the 60's, and having seen Janice Joplin no less than 4 times, no one, and I mean no one has exceeded Janice's heart-felt, passion, range, and the essence of the blues like Beth has. Seen a few come close, but nothin' like this woman.

But when on her meds she has to be regulated so she doesn't feel so low and depressed, like she has a hard time writing and doesn't even want to play her Piano at times. The Meds stabilize her, and helps to get back on track. I have a family member that goes through the same thing, and I have seen his highs and his lows. He is an Artist and a very very good one at that, but just like Beth in order to feel like a real human being she has to stay on her meds otherwise it sends her in a tailspin, and it takes about six weeks to feel better again. I love Beth's Music, and the passion she puts into it blows my mind! ❤❤

At one time apparently. It caused her to be blacklisted in the US and unable to perform there so she performed extensively throughout Europe and is better known there. So it’s understood, I read this in an article some time ago. How true it is I can’t say for sure but I can say she is my all time favorite performer and if I could only listen to one singer the rest of my life it would be Beth Hart.

She is second to only Janis Joplin, both hade drug problems when they were at their peak. Beth survived after long rehab, but is not near this crazy, but she has been discoverd by the best blues musicans in the world and worked with Joe Bonamassa, Jeff Beck and Clapton 🙏🏻

Parramatta Peter she hasn't done drugs for 15 years. She did say in the past that she occasionally slips up in her sobriety where alcohol is concerned so she might have had something to drink, but no drugs. She's just that intense and into it. 💖

+Marisa Newland I've watched this concert in its entirety quite a few times...one of the greatest live performances to be captured on film. At one point during this show, she says she has been recently sober for a tiny bit; however, us that have partaken in the varieties of high that can be so enjoyable at times, can easily tell that Beth is a bit higher than alcohol gets you here...she told a lil' fib, as all of us who are faced with the scrutiny of others concerning such things, have done. That being said, this concert was many moons ago, and currently, it is just as easily seen that she has honestly done well overcoming her addictions and keeping them at bay for many years since this performance...playing for the president, her concerts with bonassama (sp?), her participation in the blues cruise, and her latest album. Nonetheless, it doesn't really matter; most things don't :) This truth that remains self-evident is that she is a fuckin' musical juggernaut with talent so overwhelming that unintentionally & without malice, 99% of all musicians in the world are left with the stark unspoken truth of their mediocrity because of it. She sits with the rare & blessed few found in all subjects moving towards their rightful places in the history of our species. Congrats, Beth!

different strokes. It's easy to have success with the blues, but maybe not high fame. I've heard blues music and blues rock in every other bar and coffee shop I go to seems like. Aside that, she's played with Joe Bonamassa frequently. What surprises me is when I find fans of his who don't know who she is, even though they frequently listen to the music he collaborated with her on.

+Henk Hageman She has mostly toured outside the U.S. and Europe is her money maker. She doesn't have the money to promote herself in the U.S. The labels for the pop acts spend millions of dollars promoting their stars per project.
