That transient shaper you put on completely transformed the track! I've just recently been getting into using transient sharpers a lot, and it's crazy what they can do, especially for drums, when you apply limiting after! Even the top end of the vocals pop out a bit more when you turn it on from off, it's insane.
I keep coming to this channel over and over. Thanx Dave
Better and better every video, wow! Thank you David
You kick some serious ass, I've been smiling the entire video, you're an amazing teacher on top of an incredible engineer

Great teacher. You know something is good when you see this man using it.
Holy shit, that Punctuate plugin from Newfangled Audio really hyped up the mix in a very pleasant way!
Best on the market!
Me: Mixbus Dave looks like a hero on 2021 MixbusTV: We are heroes and villians, but heroes for the most part. Not since 2021, since day 1
These Weiss plugs looks amazing.

great vid thanks - I think personally I'd use spectral edits to tame those guitar clicks.

1. There's a kind of lagging low end - particularly noticeable at the end of every 8 bars. I often hear this phenomena on night club sound systems when 18 inch subs are used. When you go to a semi-isolated area in the night club (eg the bathroom) you can really hear this phenomena in lots of tunes. In the night club it adds vibe to the envirionment, but the musician in me is kind of disconcerted by it - even though it lifts the vibe in the nightclub. 2. There's a clicking sound from the acoustic guitar strings. I personally like it, but it could be toned down a little bit. I think that's what you're talking about. Otherwise I have no idea what the problems are.
@vandpiben

ive also noticed this phenomenon with the low end, really weird.

Yeah that’s clicking sound is annoying af
Yikes, holy transient, Batman, punctuate is something I need to look into. I hadn't seen it reviewed or used until now. Thanks!
wow i bought all these expensive plugins when i first started mixing 6 months ago and i didnt even know what half them do or the accurate way of using them especially the ozone's wow great teacher
Exactly what I needed to see. But I will still send my tracks to professionals to get done. Maybe do experiments myself
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Great video & fantastic master!! Really enjoyed thank you. Thoughts on acustica plugs? Ever use the diamond EQ/ transient designer in masters? Just curious
@mixbustv

I haven't tried almost any of their plugins, can't say
my man
Wow 😳
THAT is why I decided to MIX my tracks, as better as I can, BUT ALWAYS send it over for MASTERING.
I had the flappy bass kick issue! Yey :D For the 2nd problem I suspected the high end of the guitar but was really not sure if that what you meant. Listening in my salon on presonus eris 3.5 speakers... * self-five*
Guys, pay attention that he finds the problems in a surgical way but applies the solutions in a subtle way. This is my key take away from this video. Thank you man!
I quite like the song
thank you for all the information you share, you have no ideia how you help new people to keep believing that it's possible to follow our dreams. Today all youtube channels just post the "drake mastering chain" , "travis scott vocal chain" etc and shit. Bunch of presets with NO information or reason for using them. And you talk about when not to use a lot of stuff, why to use , why not to use, keep doing this long form videos bro with your opinions and everything. 100% better than any other 2minute tips and tricks clickBait channels.

@@mixbustv 😄✌️
yeah i cant hear any of these issues yet i have a lot of work to do
Picked up that the transients were a bit too wild (didn't figure out it was the acoustique guitar yet, snare was bothering me) and picked up that the vocal is getting buried. Didn't pick up that the kick needs to be tightened up - but I agree that it sounds better with what you've done. You can hear that on 30 Buck Speakers in a not-optimized living-room btw. Did I ever fix such issues in mastering-stage? No, I usually revisit the mix. I guess that's one of the reasons it's hard to become a better "mastering-engineer" if you mostly work with mixes where you also have the full mix available.. you simply don't need to fix it in post. Also the problems I (have) am focussing on are usually a bit more relevant than the low-end fix you performed. But the transient-problems and finding the sweetspot for the vocals is something I am familiar with. Which tells me real-life-mixes are better than mine, but not CRAZY better.. this mix had serious problems.
