Best Waxes of 2022: Wolfgang, Adam's, Meguiar's, The Last Coat, Xtreme Solutions, Blackfire, etc...

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

These are my favorite coatings, sealants, and waxes for the summer of 2022. Like many of you I’m gearing up for the summer. New projects, car shows, meets and of course getting your ride perfectly detailed. As usual you can see all of my wax tests on my website: dmitrysgarage.com/wax
I broke this video up into three categories. Traditional liquid and paste waxes, perfect for many newcomers and seasoned enthusiasts, are the most basic form of paint protection. Spray waxes are the second category and these are the most easy to use products, but they're rapidly displacing liquids and pastes as they catch up across metrics. Coatings are of course the most exciting category these days with some of the longest lasting products.

    I'll admit, the coating videos you do are still my favorite on your channel with this being a good "as of now" wrap-up of the INSANE amount of hours and work you put into finding these results. I'm more of a spray on coating person, I actually just bought the Wolfgang spray 2 days ago based on your findings. However, as far as throwing out suggestions as future comparisons, I'd love to see GYEON Quartz Q² Cancoat EVO, Adam's Advanced Graphene Ceramic Spray Coating, and Phoenix E.O.D. Titan SiO2 Hybrid Detailer. If you ever have time in your busy schedule these would make good reviews IMO. Thanks, you're the best!

    Merry Christmas! Reporting in on Adams Advanced Graphene/Ceramic Coating update. Here in the Hartland (Midwest) we're entering winter. Just two days ago, temperature was -9 degrees fahrenheit. I am happy to report, the coating is still holding up, no failures. Let me tell you how I maintain this coating. I do a rinseless wash about every week or so, then about once a month or so, I do a traditional pH neutral soap wash, then use the Adams Graphene detailer. In the spring, during another soap wash, I then use Adams Irn Remover, wash again to remove the iron remover. Then I use the Adams Advanced Graphene/Ceramic Spray Coating. I repeat this process again in the fall, performing this twice a year. During the winter, follow up with weekly rinseless washing, Sometime, I will use Power Clean on the lower parts of the car, as well as tires and wheels, diluted 10:1. It is amazing how a coating cab make a car look clean when it isn't.

    I'm going to use Gyeon Q2 Wax for the upcoming winter season in Sydney next month. I'd think you'd enjoy the wax - easy application, good slickness and great hydrophobic properties. It added a nice shine to the pearl crystal white paint on my Subaru. I'm not too sure about chemical torture test, but it should be able to last at least 3 months in real world conditions. For spray and rinse, Gyeon Wet Coat is excellent. Notable mention to Meguiar's Hybrid Ceramic Wax - only negative is the liquid is too viscous for my liking. Have you tried any of the other Soft99 products?? The Fusso Coat F7 liquid sealant supposedly lasts up to 7 months, and the Fusso Coat Speed & Barrier supposedly lasts up to 180 days. Both have the same fluorine polymers as their big brother.

  • @DmitrysGarage

    @DmitrysGarage

    10 ай бұрын

    Hey, thanks for the kind words. I would not recommend applying it or any coating (most products really) under the sun. I know some products can be used in direct light, but its never ideal. If going through all the work to coat a car I would find a way to do it indoors or at least shade id possible. Less chances of leaving high spots due to fast flashing, plus if you live in a humid climate like I do it really wont help either.

    Factory paint is never defect free from a polishing perspective. Ceramic coatings can be used on unpolished paint. I always polish new cars and repainted cards before coating to maximize looks and performance.

    I noticed you tried the TW ceramic spray and wasn't too impressed. You absolutely have to try the black on a swirled up black panel. I have never seen anything like it, magic in a bottle. Had the opportunity to put it on a brand new black car and a heavily swirled black car. I was super amazed what it did to the swirled car and after washing the brandnew car 2 weeks later, the water was behaving like a true ceramic and the gloss was better than when I came out the dealership. Bot customers were happy so I went out and got myself a bottle for my wife's car. I think this may be the go to product for black cars, it takes a learning curve removing as you need a damp microfiber. First truck took me 2 hours trying to remove it but by the second car when I figured it out, took me 10 mins on a cayenne.

    Modern head lights are painted with clear coat. Once the clear coat fails from UV the lights fog up. In my experience and testing none of the waxes/coatings/sealants really do much for UV, which is what's going to re-fog your lights. Generally it's best to sand the lenses with heavy grit sand paper until the fogged up factory clear coat is removed. Then step up to 2,000 grit to smooth the surface. Once totally smooth and perfectly matte you should paint the lenses with automotive clear coat, you can get it in a rattle can on amazon (amzn.to/3CPaxYV). As you paint the lenses will turn perfectly clear if you did a good job sanding out any scratches. Spray 2-3 layers and let it cure. Then you can polish the clear coat, optionally wet sand it first if there is orange peel, then you can use a wax/sealant/coating to make them easier to clear. Otherwise you'll just be in the same yearly cycle of fogging up your head lights. Plus the way I described will make your lights MUCH clearer than trying to polish them clear without clear coat.

    Hey Dmitry, have you ever thought about testing some of those waxes mainly designed for boats? I dunno, I'm thinking maybe these waxes go on a bit thicker and so might prove interesting for your UV testing? For example, Farecla tells me that their Profile UV Wax can also be safely applied to car paint for a nice gloss finish and with all the benefits of its touted UV protection.

  • @DmitrysGarage

    Andrew, that's an interesting idea. I really don't know much about the difference in formulations. I'll talk to some of my contacts in the industry and see what they can tell me. I suspect they're not very different formulations, either way Profile UV Wax sounds interesting and ill throw it in my test list.

While we're at it, a couple more contenders on the automotive side for what it's worth: Collinite 476s Super Doublecoat (billed as their toughest weather/UV protection - stronger than the 845), and a lesser known entry, Puris A37 UV Wax ("contains resin to ensure that surface is fully protected from harmful UV rays"...)

  • @DmitrysGarage

    @DmitrysGarage

    Жыл бұрын

    As I understand there is not much difference in most major brands. There are just differences in harshness. Softer clay is less effective but less likely to mar the paint. Though I generally only clay before a paint correction anyway. Adams clay bars are fine.

    I saw your other question as well and I would say no product I've found does any sort of significant UV blocking. PPF does block UV so that may be an option if this is your main concern. Good waxes/sealants/coatings will also help preserve your clear coat during washes and from the elements, and your clear coat has UV protection in it. So I would still keep applying products.
