Best Value For Money Naked Motorcycle: Yamaha MT09 SP 2023
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
Yamaha MT 09 SP review and performance specs.
The MT 09 SP is a completely new redesign from ground up and was launched in 2021 with a brand new inline triple measuring 889cc. It has a DOHC with 4 valves per cylinder.
It churns out 119bhp at 10000 RPM and an impressive torque of 93 Nm or 68 ftlbs at a mere 7000 rpm.
On the highway, you can hit a top speed of 250kmph or 155 mph.

The new Triumph Street Triple 765 is much more beautiful than the MT-09 SP but Triumph messed up (IMHO); they went from 45mpg on the 2022 model to now, around 40mpg for the 2023/2024 model. That's not impressive at all, given that the Yamaha gets about 50mpg -- which, by the way, is right on the heels of the Trident 660 in mpg. And, you still get 9 more ft lbs of torque than the 765, and your running only about 4400 rpms at 65mph whereas, the 765 is at 5400 rpms. Now you know where the gas is going in the street triple (with 1000 more combustion events per minute at freeway speeds), not to mention that this will also lead to a shorter life span for the 765 with its extremely short or much lower gearing than the Yamaha and even in Triumphs's previous Street Triple iterations.

Made a couple of mistakes on my OP and KZread wouldn't let me edit again for some reason. I got to test ride the Triumph 765 RS and it's actually 5500 rpms at 65 mph. So that's actually 1100 more combustion events *per cylinder* per minute ...so 3300 more total per minute than the MT-09. That's also 500 rpms higher than the Trident 660 at the same speed (65 mph). Anyway, despite this and having said that, the engine was incredibly smooth (like silky smooth). Best sounding 3 cylinder, IMHO. I really loved nearly everything about the bike, just not the mpg figures. It was very very quick but not a necessarily a torque monster. I wouldn't mind having one after riding it. I totally felt like people were looking at me when I was riding it. That was so cool! 😎😎😎

MT 09 SP, 2021. This has to be my favorite ride of of the 9 bikes I've owned over the years. I took to refining it's hooligan edge with side covers, a belly pan, a small smoke bug screen, bar end mirrors, heated grips, a rear hugger in the gloss black to match the front fender, a sturdy set of crash bars & axle pucks, along with a front fork mounted damper. Little tweaks here & there. The suspension is superb...well worth the extra dough versus the standard MT 09. It'll eat curves all day long and the cruise control make the straits a happy affair. My only bitch is it's 3.7 gallon tank--offset a bit by it's great gas mileage. I like the hidden exhaust which offers a clean look on both sides of the bike. It'll go two up, but the pillion rider can't be very comfortable. Master Of Torque. 150 mph top speed. A head turner...I own going to the garage for the express purpose to just look at it...frequently. I call her Zoë. Yaoza!

Wow! That sounds like a love story. The belly pan will make it look like a track monster!
Yamaha is like Tudor or Seiko. High quality but doesn't get the prestige respect for the name brand but when you think about it, everything they make whether it's motorcycles, pianos, or receivers are always one of the best and set high standards when they really put their minds to it.

Kinda true. And now they are working on this hydrogen powered engine. Let's see where that goes.
@someoneelse1i1i

You’re right about that. I work in an industry that deals with musical instruments - and Yamaha excels there. And while all their instruments are of good quality their reputation is built around the consistency more so than “always being the best”. Every Yamaha instrument is just exactly like every other Yamaha instrument and that means a lot to high level musicians. I have Honda motorcycle myself and it checks off all the boxes I specifically needed and Honda’s reliability with motorcycles is legendary. However I have no doubt that when you get any Yamaha bike you know exactly what you’re getting.

Had this bike for a year now and it ticks so many boxes. The frame, engine and quick shifter is a very capable package. Like any bike it's not perfect. You need a aftermarket screen just to get the air off your lower body. The seat gets sore after a hour and being a triple engine is buzzy something that you feel though your hands when touring all day. I don't recommend it if you live anywhere with a lot of speed camera. It's character just eggs you on to ride fast.

Krish sir, 2023 MT 09 SP is on sale on which country. Is it on sale on india ? And my last and most important question is whether there is accessory or dedicated rear linkage or spacer available to lower the ride height/seat height for shorter rider ? If it is available, then upto how many mm can the seat height be lowered ?
@KrishnenduKes
Жыл бұрын
It is available in the US. I can talk about the US because I live here. I also know that it is available in the EU as well and the UK. About the lowering links, you can find for almost any bike. You need to order it separately from the parts department of a dealership.
Is it possible to have the MT-09 SP as first bike being limited to 35kw?
@KrishnenduKes
11 ай бұрын
That is 46 Bhp. It can be done, if: 1. The torque does not throw you off. I am not sure if the torque is limited. 2. If you can handle the weight of the bike, it is nearly 200 kilos and can be a handful for a rank beginner on his first ever bije. 3. If you can handle the height, which is not much but for a beginner biker who is less than lets say 165cms or 5'6", it can be a handful too.
Which one should i get, mt09sp or tracer 9 gt?
@KrishnenduKes
Жыл бұрын
That totally depends on your needs. The Tracer is more of a highly capable Sports Touring machine. Whereas the MT09SP is more like a naked Streetfighter. The goals of the two bikes are different.
Looks like a sweet ride but is a bit perverted if you ask me.
