Man Ilya, that is one gorgeous sword. I cannot wait to see the full video on the Heretic. What little you showed of it took my breath away. I really, really love how you blended form and function. It takes real skill to be able to make something that ornate without making it gaudy. I can only imagine how pleased the owner is. Seriously, incredible work. Matt, that hilt is amazing. It's very elegant without being overdone. It makes me wonder what you could have done if you spent more time working on your project. I'll be looking forward to seeing what you come up with for next Bladeshow. @@MrWTPunk Thank you my friend. You said it so beautifully. I agree totally. Every time I see Ilya or Matt forge I can almost feel how they go into a trance and access the akashic records within their soul. I think this world is in desperate need for these fantastic people with their magic and how readily they can access their power through dimensions, and time. This was indeed a pleasure. I look forward to your future videos. God Bless

I am a Brazilian cutlery fan. Seeing your works and forges is a pleasure and a temptation for me. One day I will forge something for myself, but until then I will be very grateful to see such amazing work being done. You inspire thousands, don't mind a review of the damask kkk but the two swords were amazing

As someone sitting on my couch: Iliya you have worked with Wootz Steel / True Damascus before. That would be something really awesome for next year that not many people have.

I thought the process for making wootz steel from india used in the original damascus died out in the 1800?

  • @kesna8

@@wpjohn91 it did however since then some Smith's have figured it out. There were nine that figured it out but one died and one retired. Most of the others make it in small quantities because the process is still intensive

Man Ilyas sword is something fit for a Primarch, definitely would suit the Blood Angels motif, not just because of the ruby, the whole engraving just screams Baal. One might guess by what they were inspired

Ilya, your piece warranted that award. It is true art. Now, can you do some videos discussing philosophy and how it pertains to your work. I was most interested in that as you spoke to someone at the show.

I wanna see Ilya make a German executioner sword in the style of heretic/inquisitor with nice Damaskus and a lot of engraving as it has a lot of space on the blade

Congratulations, Ilya! Well done, both of you. Matt, Sebastian is a beautiful piece, and astonishing given the time frame you gave it. Ilya, The Heretic is world class. It's comparable to the sword of Maximilian I, and I have a feeling even the Emperor himself would have been envious of your customer.

Congrats to Ilya for the win, you earned it. And Matt you made a really nice sword in the time you took to work on it. Also is it just me or is Ilya kinda like Matt's "forge dad" or "forge wife" always encouraging/nagging at him to "do better" or "you should have listened", lol. You can see that he really wants you to do better and improve yourself thought which is awesome to have in a friend.

They wouldn't typically award it since he was the only one passing, but the judges were so impressed, they went ahead and gave it to him.
