Jonathon Tritto I think there was also the fact that his forge (Dragon's Breath Forge) had previously been undefeated in the show's history, so I think he might have been dwelling on the idea of meeting that standard a little too much.

2 years back After I saw this show in History channel on my TV. I was searched so many times for this video in KZread by using different names like making shield in forged in fire, long haired men's in forged in fire, best weapons making in forged in fire etc.. but I couldn't find this video. But finally without any search, KZread recommend this video. Really he is true gem, the way he makes shield with flexible glove is 🔥

Really wasn't fair. Ilya has an insane amount of skill. He is very humble, but I've seen the guy forge Katanas the old way. The way they did it back in 1500s Japan. Watching him work is like art in motion.

Yes second season I was shocked too when I saw season 2 and he won, I think illya was with man at arms by this time not sure though but it was awesome seeing him put his skills to work

@@SheepyPanda95 master smiths have lost on the show too. Also, master smith isnt a title given to good blacksmiths, it's a title you apply for and then partake in a test to earn. It should indicate skill, but it does not mean someone without it is of inferior skill.

It's like.. Mike shield wasn't bad, and a lot of other contestants gave not totaly finished tools to the judges, but Ilya did so much in those 5 days and did such a fabulous and perfetcly working shield, that it could not compare.

He had a masterpiece of a shield, with a built in Gauntlet, and blade catchers. His metal work was incredibly intricate, and Mike just did not stand a chance. Ilya is truly a master with metal.

Going up against Illya is just already fighting uphill. Its not just his experience but his mental state when making his pieces that let him go beyond basic level stuff.

Ilya's shield along with Ricardo's ikakalaka were some of the biggest flexes over the competition in forged history. It was ridiculous how much of a blowout the final builds were.

This one is from ss1 or 2 of forge in fire - i watched the show, Ilya is working at Baltimore Knives and Sword at that time, but the shop working for man at arm is not them, it's years late they came in and do the man at arm refored. At the show ilya wasn't as potent at blade making as he is now. His kukri flawed and have delamination.

Ilya's shield looks like something out of a sword and sorcery film AND it held up perfectly. I feel like the judges didn't give him enough praise. That gothic gauntlet on it looks so cool.

Those who wants to see Ilya's skills, check out his The Heretic sword build that won blade of the year. Dude's a different beast.

That integrated gauntlet though. My god, Ilya is a true master of steel

The sheer skill to create a shield with a built in gauntlet thats both comfortable and functional, within a time limit of just 5 days, is utterly amazing! Ilya is without a doubt, a true MASTER forge smith.

To be fair though, hammers and maces were really introduced to counter heavily armored enemies. So like the old battle hammers with the one spiked end, they were made specifically to be used against plate and shields.

Dude went full Eitri on this one, "WHERE'S THE HANDLEEEEEEE", too bad there wasn't a talking tree around to help.

When ilya appeared I immediately knew the other has no chance wining this It would have been really exciting to see ilya forge a blade instead of a shield but still an elite blacksmith can forge anything

While I applaud the Dragon's Breath Forge for spawning a total of three Forged In Fire Champions, the moment I saw Ilya was going to be in this episode, I knew I'd be cheering for him the entire time. I'm still waiting for the rest of the guys at Baltimore Knife And Sword to show up on this show (I noticed Ilya engraved his first two rounds knife with Baltimore Knife And Sword's initials).

This was more one sided than the famous “Tyson vs Baby” fight.

So happy, ILYA WON!! One of my favorite episodes, even if he would have lost. He is a true artist. I can't imagine what he will do next, I eagerly await.

lol seeing Ilya walk up knowing instantly the other guy is terminated. I love Ilya so much!!!!

When I saw Ilya step out I looked at the other guy and said: "Dude you're gonna get rekt."

That's the best shield I've ever seen even In computer games 😂

You could see Iliya's innocent face just light up with enthusiasm. Armor, as he explained, was his first mastery. Contrast to his toothy, genuine grin, you could see the other dude's heart absolutely sink down to the floor in seconds

When i heard the name Ilya, i knew he is going to be the winner.

Now I wanna see Ilya against Dave.

@@lylesabado6923, yes or shields with sharpened edges. "Wolverine" claws would be to long for the way they tested it on the show though, and likely to heavy. More like spiked gauntlets than claws. I have seen some very nice drawings of some shields with serrated edges, never looked to see if anyone ever made stuff like that. I mean without a lot of experience that would be just as dangerous to the one using it.

When I saw Iliya I was sure the other guy is toast. I have seeing his work few times in the past and he is getting better and better. Keep up the great work mate !

I saw Ilya in this, and instantly knew he was about to out class everyone he went against. He is super talented and has made tones of great works on awe me and his and Matts channel "That Works".

@@ammagon4519 No no, he had two years of Blade smithing. He's been making Armor for many many years. If you ever watch his work on "Man at arms" you'll see that he has learned how to forge a Katana the way the ancient Japanese did. He's very truly gifted in metal work.

@@zickykane5206 forging katanas the way the japanese did isnt really more difficult than the stuff he normally does. the steel was harder to work with because its worse quality than modern steels but other than that not harder than a normal blade he makes

Ilya is a genius. You rarely see a talent like him

Ilya’s most concern was the “easiest test” lmao the kill test.

one of the most beautiful yet brutal pieces in FiF.

Despite this not being a competition, both were actually great shields!

Ilya is like the Magneto of forging. He has such dominion over what hes doing that this wasnt even a contest despite how good the other guy is.

Ilya definitely deserved it. He's a true genuis with metal work like this and its just phenomenal to see his work come to fruition exactly the way he says and expects it to. He is a disciplined man with integrity as he maintains not only keeping his forged products flawless but his composure, his focus, and his dedication. Nice 👌🏼👌🏼

"It matches all the minimum requirements. It will be able to be tested." Cuz that's how you want to be able to describe the piece you're bringing into the final round. Gee I wonder who will win.

Ilya is a master craftsman, seen him do work on anime and video game weapons/armor on youtube and the details he puts in his work are amazing

Whenever I speak to anyone about Forged in Fire, I always talk about Ilyas shield. Such an amazing piece of deadly art and craftsmanship. Sooo happy to see it on here 😄👍

I was searched so many times for this video in KZread by using different names like making shield in forged in fire, long haired men's in forged in fire, best weapons making in forged in fire etc.. but I couldn't find this video. But finally without any search, KZread recommend this video. Really ILYA is true gem, the way he makes shield with flexible glove is 🔥

9:16 Ilya got that swagger strut like he knows he’s walking to pick up a 10K check.

They couldn't have asked Ilya to come back because after he crafted that shield he casually forged an entire tank with the remaining daylight before he went to sleep.

"it matches all the minimum requirements".. didn't want 10k anyway humph.

Well after all the Men At Arms videos I knew Ilya wouldn't let us down.......I would be scared to go up against him

I’d be the type of competitor that would take one look at Ilya knowing his skills and the work he has done and forfeit right there
