I make mine the same, but the flour isn’t really necessary - just my thoughts. The eggs alone are just fine as a binder. Sometimes, I take out the yokes, whip the whites until stiff peaks form & fold it in the potato mixture at the end, which lends to a lighter creamier pie. I also add condensed milk, heavy cream, carnation in various combinations and Brown sugar only for me- all work great and make a delicious pie! I never measure, I just eyeball the consistency and have it down pack over the years. God bless you!

Once you have all ingredients, (except all spice ,my choice")you can mix all at once,and you can tweak to your taste.I also pre brown the crusts,some times the bottoms can be "soggy". 💯💯❤️

How long to pre-brown the crust?

Thank you for this! For people on a health diet, swap the sugar for about 1/6 the quantity and with stevia or monk fruit. Swap the cream/milk for almond milk. Skip the flour. Use avocado butter but about 1/2 the portion. Do this one only for you, don’t try the substitutions on the fam at Thanksgiving 😂

Sometimes it takes away from the recipe when you substitute for sugar. But there is too much sugar . Try adding 1/2 a cup or 3/4 c . Brown or granulated.

I add flour to mine as well, I don’t like wet like pies, the flour to me helps bind them. Every thanksgiving and Christmas, I make 22 sweet potatoe pies, I make 20 of the petit ones as well. They look delicious. Alabama girl here, I love mine with some salty ham, it’s good.

Oh Lord, your pies looks so good. You make me homesick. I was brought up in a huge family and uncles. My grandma raised me with my mom all my aunts and uncles. They were 12 of them and they all had no list than five kids. There was a lot of us I miss those days. I’ve been just smell and taste those pies God bless you thank you

My Mom accidentally used Condensed Milk one time years ago and that pie was so good we never went back to evaporated milk… try swapping it out with sweetened condensed milk and see if it don’t kick it up a notch!🥰

Hi Mrs. Teresa. I just found your channel when I was searching for a homemade key lime pound cake. I had eaten one for the first time 2 weekends ago at my nephew's high school graduation party. His aunt made some individual key lime cakes in a jar. So, I figured someone on KZread probably also knew how to make that cake. And, that is when I stumbled across your channel. Your key lime pound cake looked so scrumptious, that I decided to also check out your video on your homemade sweet potato pies. And, to my surprise, you use the same exact ingredients my mom (rest in heaven) used to use in her homemade sweet potato pies 3-4 decades ago. Therefore, I already know your pies are delicious! I make my sweet potato pies pretty much the same but I always add a pinch of salt which I feel is necessary to bring the flavor out

It seems like the specific ingredients depends on what area you are from and your personal likeness of the ingredients of course. I also add a little flour as a binder. Thank you for sharing your recipe. I love sweet potato pie so much for as long as I can remember. I laugh when I think about when I was in elementary school and they tried telling us it was pumpkin not sweet potato. I knew better but most of the kids did not know the difference 😅

Great example of that SPP. Mine is similar. I recommend using a blender to de-STRING the pie. It makes my pies extremely smooth and creamy. Loved your process.

I use a food processor to smooth the sweet potato pie mixture then use spatula to mix after all ingredients are in. If u mix too much u have air bubbles and lie can crack.

Thank you for the recipe.. I love your way. However, I bake my potatoes it much sweeter and no ( strings) when I use the bake method. adding 1/4 cup of sugar 1/8 cup of dry milk 1 tesp of vanilla 1/4 stick of butter . pour into pie shell and bake 350 , when it finish baking I have a crust. I preferred this method because its lower in calories. Thank you for sharing

My mother passed away on Thanksgiving day a few years ago, so I know how feel. May our mothers always sleep in peace take care 😢❤🎉

This is the most authentic and proper way to make sweet potatoe pies how I know because this is exactly how my mom makes them minus the allspice and they are good pies. I make my moms recipe but I use allspice like her. I make at least 6 pies because they eat them up on sight lol she the real deal I got to try some of her other recipes. Thank you!!!!!

I have never made a sweet potato pie in my life and I am 64 years old, about to be 65 on Christmas Eve. I am going to try your recipe for Thanksgiving this year and although I won’t be posting anything on KZread, I hope mine taste as good as yours looks. I will only need one because it’s just gonna be me eating it. Maybe once I perfect my pie I will share it with others. My sisters always cook and I eat their cooking. But I make a mean pan of cornbread chicken dressing. I can tell you that much! I don’t like anybody else’s dressing but mine and I learned how to make it from my great aunt who is no longer with me.
