    I use to own double cab hilux 2.7 petrol for around 5 years it was a bulletproof engine and I could not speak highly enough of it , towed well and went like cut cat with a 5speed manual transmission . Went better than most ever gave it credit but once you got the mill spun up in revolutions it was away with a very strong mid range , funny thing is I still miss it’s rev range over a diesel . What Toyota really needs to do is to turbocharge the 2.7 and it would smoke over any of the current lot for power and torque, if Toyota did it, it would out pace there current 4L petrol v6 and still be cheaper on fuel as well.

    Jason Manning Toyota build quality and interior design still out trumps the others. That's just a fact. You may love another brand but he reality is the others don't deserve to come 1st. Get in a few, Nissan and other have such cheap and nasty feeling plastics and Isuzu looks like an interior from the 1980s. That's just for starters.....

  • @MarmiteTheDog

    @MarmiteTheDog

    6 жыл бұрын

    The Revo's interior looks like it was designed by 5 people who have never met. In the review they state that the engine is not very flexible and needs revving (and then state it to be superior). They state is to be cheap to run despite telling us how it is actually more expensive (servicing intervals & fuel costs), they also only mention comfort when loaded because everyone knows it has a terrible unladen ride. They also don't mention that the chassis in in reality just a modified version of the 1997 model (but Toyota don't like to mention how Ford totally screwed them up by releasing the Ranger in 2015). They also quickly went past how notoriously unstable the Toyota is in the swerve and brake test. There are so many flaws and mis-truths in this review that I hope the back-hander from Toyota was worth the dent in their integrity.

    Bayl's i dont know what you mean by cheap and nasty plastics being in every car except the hilux. my boss just got a new sr5 hilux and that interior is rough as guts. it has FAKE STITCHING ON HARD PLASTIC to make it look like a leather interior. plus, the auto in the sr5 with the diesel revs out way too far. a diesel should never have to reach 3000 when driving around under 60Kmh. im sorry but no, toyota isnt the best make of car. They are however, the best at marketing.

    @@MarmiteTheDog all probably true Jason. A mate who works up on the mines reckons the Rangers fall apart in that environment & I've heard similar about other brands... Except Toyota. Doesn't make this review any better (which is your point) but food for thought none the less.

    I have a 2014. 2x4. Hilux. 2.7. Petrol. Upgraded the suspension , it carried a tonne all day ever day. .. up graded to a Mazda Bt 50 hi rider 3.2. Extra cab Diesel. It was 12 k dearer. Still needed to upgrade suspension. Although rated capacity is well over a tonne it still sagged .. The Bt is a g rear Ute. The hilux is a great Ute. Fuel the hilux 500km or less from a tank. Bt over 750km to a tank. Loaded unloaded I was getting 900 plus . I would grab another Bt tomorrow as the extra $100 per month in repayments is saved in fuel and I have a much better ride and comfort . If I get 250000km out of the Bt without any issues. Like the Lux that is I’m converted. . I replaced a clutch in the hilux at 95000 and one at 220000

    MYSTERIOUS UNIVERSE Well I'm only 20 and so have never had another ute to compare but if you want a simple, cheap to run (7.2L/100km), stock standard ute, with no gimmick crap in the cab, and with a massive 8'x6' tray for chucking all your gear in; then the single cab 4x2 aluminum tray 3.0L TDI Isuzu D-max SX might be the best thing.

    madrx2 agreed, when you start carrying a load over distance using a petrol engine it isn’t going to be as economical, but for around town clowns the 2.7 Hilux will do the job. There is also the problem of your knuckle head staff putting the wrong fuel in, but that isn’t really the vehicles fault....

    Fouzaan Noble that is a set of circumstances we simply don’t experience here in Australia, I can honestly say that I haven’t weighed up hijackability as a concern on any mass market car. At absolute best 11.7 Lts/100 klms. Can get up to 18 and on freeway speeds. Auto can’t hold top gear. Rough as guts when empty. Need kidney belt for driving empty. Such an obvious wank for the way outdated Toyota. Yes it's reliable, yes it gets the job done but it beats the shit out of your back, slides far to easily in the wet and bounces the living shit out of you on every porthole. Unlike the Triton so conveniently left out of this video the Toyota definately does not handle a full load anywhete near as good as that vehicle. Toyota should sack you for being so blatantly 'Toyota'. Bad acting!
