If it had a charge jack, ya'd never have to take the battery out. Not sure what they were thinkin' with those screws.

The wheel position is adjustable. You can remove the drop down and attach the wheel directly to the upper body of the transmitter. I like the dropdown though, feels more comfortable to me, which factored into me getting this radio.

The drop down can be rotated some to , correct? I thought I saw one where the person had it moved forward, which also made it not quite as low... We are waiting for my son's I the mail, snagged the $80 off flash sale price last week...

@@isaiahfurrow7414 Yeah I think it can be rotated forward which moves it up. Also included are wedge shaped inserts to angle the wheel to the left.

For me my goal is get all DX3 remotes and recievers for all my cars. Cheaper and has some amazing bluetooth options and phone holder. I dont do professional racing, and only own 4 RCs, and soon maybe the new 4S Mojave.

Thanks for this video! We are waiting for my son's DX5 Pro in the mail, snagged the recent $80 off flash sale price on the one with the micro Rx. We were on the fence between this and the Sanwa MT-5, or possibly finding a used Sanwa... The sale price made the final choice easier... but we already have some Spektrum stuff that would be compatible, Sanwa's new radios won't work with our FHS2 recievers from MX-V.... also, having options from $99 down to $35 for recievers, which all do 5.5ms is nice. Have some experience with DX3S(now have 2) for a long time, a bit with a DX5C, also Sanwa MX-V (have 2 as well)... and have held and used a few other radios, like MT-44 and M12, etc... looking forward to seeing how this new radio helps my kid improve this outdoor season, last year he was using 2 radios depending on which cars he was driving. The screws in the battery door I think can be seen both ways.... it could be a drawback, as it takes a minute to remove or reinstall for a swap or charge... but, it also may prevent the need to source a replacement battery door, or get one printed, or....could prevent it coming loose and batteries falling out.... I have bought a replacement before, have 1 radio with a 3d printed door on it, and have had batteries come out the bottom of a radio in use before, all 3 ... so, I am kinda looking forward to the inconvenience of having those screws... just hope we don't have to charge halfway through a race day too often... What size was the spektrum pack you bought but ended up not using?

I use my dx5 rugged. I LOVE the radio. It’s built so stout.

I shopped this radio when I was looking for a second radio to use primary for my crawlers and Vintage RC’s most of which will probably never see the track again. I found it wasn’t worth the difference in price feature wise for my use vs the DX5C (and if I dropped it off a cliff I’d definitely cry more vs the $120 DX5C 😂) if I were to be limited to just one Radio I might consider this over my MT44 just because of how many RC’s I own. The big selling point for going with Spectrum was backwards compatibly with all their legacy receivers, the availability of good cheap RX’s (the SR215/315/515 RX’s had just been released) so upgrading all my old FM Futaba & FH2 2.4Ghz Sanwa gear to something else over time wasn’t going to completely break the bank (I have very few actual shelf queen RC’s they all need to drivable) You touched on another big selling point the fact you could B&D with Losi,Axial etc RTR vehicles is a cool feature too.

That's a JST PH2.0 plug from what I can tell. Same plug used in the SCX24 and Tiny Whoop drones. Nice overview. I've been wanting one...but like to be able to one-handed drive.

Good informative video, I'm kind of looking into this Spektrum DX5 Pro 2021 radio or the Radiolink RC8X. But i'm a little worried about the signal quality and the longevity of the radio and also a few vehicles i plan to get come with Spektrum DSMR receivers in them.

It's a good radio. I agree that build quality could be better. I will say build is a little better than the DX5C but not by much. I was looking into the M17 but that seemed like a lot of radio and all I do is bash. I wanted a step up from the DX5C and I'll be within the Horizon/Spektrum ecosystem for awhile so I went with the DX5Pro.

I use my 5pro for racing only! Love it… I have a video on it on my channel explaining the traction function, it’s like using ramp and throttle speed on the M17 or Futaba

YES! those dopey screws on the battery cover are a poor choice. I always take my batteries out when not in use. I've had battery leakage ruin many a battery operated thing , and that screw setup's annoying! SO, I bought the nice LiPo battery for it, thinking I was smoother than a gravy sandwich, only to see, no charge jack! So, when charge time comes along, still have to mess with screws and tiny connector. yuck. You'll want an SPM6834 for the battery adapter. Comes with banana plugs on it for your regular chargers. (Again, I point out the need for that charging plug!) Oddly enough, when I bound it to my Tenacity SCT, it actually seemed faster for some reason. Nice 'belly flop' at 13:05! ouch!

You can put the wheel up in the traditional position can you not?

I had gotten the bluetooth mod for the DX3 and found some great abilities and better driveability. It was 24$. Tell me how I could justify this DX5? Not being rude,just wondering if the feel is really that much better.

Depending on your uses, it may not be justified to go tonthe 5 pro... having multiple model memory, all of the programming, etc... and 5 channels, might be a reason to go to the DX5C... it does MOST of what this one does, without the drop wheel, without as many adjustments, and with a bit smaller, non-backlit screen...for about half the price. My bonus kid got a new 2wd Stadium truck last spring, and the DX5C is the radio that went into that rig... he now has a reciever coming for a Mini B, as well as for a 4wd buggy for this offroad season... the 5C does 11ms frame rate, so great for bashers and people racing but not at a super high level of competition. My 15 year old son is waiting for his DX5 Pro in the mail, should be here Monday or Tuesday... he has been racing for a few years now, and is fairly competitive at the local level already... he races 2wd SCT and Stadium truck still sometimes, but mainly 4wd buggy and 1/8 E-Buggy. We were on the fence about the 5 Pro or a Sanwa like the MT-5, and went with this...partly because we already have some Spektrum stuff and a couple recievers to use with it, partly because of the cost of more recievers, and...there was an $80 off flash sale last week, so we got the $399 version with the micro reciever for 320...the micro Rx will be nice in the tight confines of the Tekno EB410 chassis. We have other Spektrum and Sanwa radios, as well as a few RTR type radios in bashers and crawlers... If you're not racing at a fairly competitive level, there probably isn't justification for this model of radio, but, there might be some justification for a DX5C...especially if you end up needing channel 4 or 5, like in a crawler with steering, throttle, shifting(2spd and/or dig), winch, lights, etc... other reasons might just be wanting to have 1 radio to easily use with 5 or 10 different cars and trucks.... Cheers...

Razor I bought this per your vid, but how the hell do you update the firmware. The spektrum website literially only says how to put a sd card in and how to register but nothing how to update the firmware. It seems stupid that radios like the rugged have a usb cord that plug straight into a PC. But the pro you need to buy sd card and reader. Currently it doesn't display anything from my spektrum esc and smart battery. So I think I need a update. Can you pleaseeee do a quick video or explain how in comments.

I like my dumborc setup you can do a lot of different cars and so far the longest distance of all I've tried

The steering wheel arm is removable so it can be mounted just like the 4c/5c......

What can I do on the controller to help my car turn sharper and not so wide?

At $480 Australian, I am not sure it is worth it.

i own the dx5c and i absolutely hate it, i bought the flysky nobel nb4 and absolutely love it, personal preference and all that ;)

@@whistlinlipo The dx5c is just so big feels cheap, and and making adjustments on it is not as easy or stright forward as on the nobel, i have no range issues on the nobel at all, and my screen is pretty clear, i live in Denmark, so the sun is not an big issue, it rains alot ;)

I own the dx5 rugged, Pro and NB4 I agree I would definitely keep the NB4 if I could only keep one. Very good point on screen visibility but all transmitters have a setback. The pro is over $300, the rugged has the crappy touchscreen menu keys etc…. All great transmitters though!!

Damn 90 bucks off I’m about to pull the trigger on this where do I find it on sale
