@@sashaprettyeyes2052 I think, she means 'make up', as in 'foundation', since that's the topic of the video and also how Dr. Dray uses the word in the video title. I'm not a native speaker myself, so I don't know, if it's correct or not...but I noticed, that many people seem to use the terms interchangeably. Also: that profile picture is tiny, how can you even tell?

Been asking how we can reapply sunscreen after putting on makeup for more than 10 years. None of the makeup artists could ever give any good advice. All danced around the issue. Only once did I hear someone say to put on a spf loose powder when touching up and that's it. So thank you Dr Dray for at least addressing this. Makeup companies should wise up to this. Many of us need something with spf for touching up.

it’s not a makeup artists job to give advice for sunscreen wear. They give makeup advice. It’s everyone’s individual choice to wear sunscreen or not. dermatologists, skin care companies etc should give advice as they are the ones who tell us we should wear sunscreen.

  • @jiranma

    @jiranma

    2 жыл бұрын

@@Lana.a_ hmmm...I think you might be misreading this. Makeup artists should have an idea on how to make your skin with makeup look nice if you choose to wear sunscreen and also how we are able to touch up our makeup and sunscreen together without making our makeup go all haywire. That's what I am saying. Sorry if it wasn't clear enough in my original comment. To put sunscreen or not, I wouldn't even ask a makeup artist for their advice, though I do believe any self-respecting makeup artist would be advising their clients on the importance of sunscreens since they also advise their clients on skin care, and skin care does include sunscreen. Also, which sunscreen suits what kind of skin and meld well with what kind of makeup for the best effect should be the most basic requirement of a makeup artist now in my humble opinion. Anyhow, long story short, would love more information on makeup use in tandem with sunscreen that's all.

I am a 51 yo fair & dry skinned guy. Cover Girl has played around with renaming and repackaging the CG Smoothers product, but I've used it on occasion for years. It's good for those days when you wake up and look in the mirror and are like "ugh, I look like crap this morning." It's moisturizing, blends easily, and cheap enough that its a good "gateway" if you're not a full time makeup wearer. I've recommended it to many people, and the fact that it has some sunscreen is a bonus. If you're cheap like me, CG often has coupons & sales :-)

Maybe someone needs to invent a sunscreen that is colored like blue so that you can really see where you’re putting it and then after one or two minutes it dries down clear. I wonder if something like that would help people really see the areas they are and aren’t applying properly.

Use a black light? It could help for certain sunscreens. Personally I do the technique where you put a bunch of dots on your face and neck, like 13, then rub them all in. A little extra on the lower eyelid and temples, and we’re done! (Depending on the shirt, could include the décolletage as well)

I haven't watched the whole video yet (but am going to) but some of the things I spotted in the thumbnail are the _exact_ powder products I have used myself and have applied over makeup. I really appreciate this video as it tells people exactly what they can do if they wear makeup but want to reapply sunscreen. I don't always reapply but I am a fair skinned, green eyed redhead and I live in the Pacific Northwest. If I am going to be outdoors in the summertime, (we have a lot less pollution in the air so the sun is more "direct") I _will_ use a powder product to reapply my sunscreen. I don't take foolish chances with my skin in direct sunlight, even though I apply quite a bit of sunscreen right after my shower as a base layer before any makeup. So thank you for this video. The first day my now husband came to Western Washington State from his "born and raised" home in Los Angeles, it was a hot, sunny, June day. He complained that "the sun just _beats down_ here". 😂 😂 L'Oréal has a nice sunscreen oil (sublime sun oil) that's great for a second layer in the morning. If you don't like a greasy face, simply take a hot, fluffy, wet washcloth and place that on your face for five seconds and then blot with your towel. Grease problem solved. P.S. You can purchase powder zinc oxide from Amazon. That's the same thing that is in one of my powder sunscreen with a brush things. So that might be helpful to some people.

I'm also here only because I like Dr Dray's videos despite the fact I am not wearing makeup. BUT being here I picked up the colorscience total eye recommendation. That would help a lot cover up some dark circles as I dislike applying my concealer on top of my spf or under etc. Awesome!

Australian Gold tinted sunscreen is a really good one. I find it doesn’t even settle into any faults either so if you like a matte, lighter coverage, you might like it.

I love Australian Gold! I use it on my t- zone. My base layer is Biore from Japan spf 50. I find the Australian gold blurs pores, evens out my skin tone and stays in place. So good for summer. I use a more moisturizing tinted sunscreen on my cheeks, eyes, ears neck. I like one called PUR tinted moisturizer or one called Andalou naturals CC cream. All these are light enough there are no lines and you can apply a good amount. So much better for mature skin than foundation!

Love that stuff. It's great if you tend to run a little oily. If you want more coverage makeup sits on top of it well as it acts a bit like a primer on me.

They have such a low zinc content tho like 4%, doesn't that interfer with uva protection? Like I've heard that the best protection for uva is zinc 15%+, or is this a myth?

Dr. Dray is like a mind reader! Just the other day I purchased face powder with sunscreen for reapplication throughout the day. I don't wear makeup except for mascara but I get oily midway though the day so I'm hoping the face powder will help keep the oil at bay while also giving me extra sun protection.

There are a bunch of high spf chemical sunscreen makeup setting sprays on the market that help the re-application of spf onto the skin over makeup. Some have fragrance included though, but that's common amongst makeup setting sprays in general. Two layers of spritzing and then some rice paper blotting of the shiny parts seem to work well for me.

Would love you to review some of the new sunscreens out now here in Europe that are being inspired by the gel and light cream Korean ones in texture and lightness, but will have the advanced European sunscreen ingredients- Vichy’s Capital Soleil UV-Age Daily Anti Photo-Ageing Water Fluid SPF50, LRP Anthelios Age Correct SPF50, and LRP Hyalu B5 Aqua Gel SPF30. They all have skincare ingredients like antioxidants, niacinamide, peptides. Buying the Vichy one this week myself :)

Esspecially brands with various shades for different skin tones. Avene is great but they only have a dark orangy tone. can't wear it. :( cheers!

Word of warning about the derma e bb cream... it drys VERY fast so blend quickly! Also it is very thick and feels like a silicone primer... even though it doesn’t contain silicone in the formula.... it can be very patchy and amplifies every single pore!! I have normal skin... not dry or oily... and I used shade fair... so not sure if it was the “color” that caused the problem... it also pills really bad! The only way I could make it not pill was to literally use it on a bare face... just cleansed no serums or moisturizer...

Great SPF video, Dr. Dray. I like the powders used in conjunction with full-face sunscreen on my oily skin. The Supergoop Eyeshadow sunscreen is a quandry: how do you wear it? Wouldn't you look strange during the day with a shiny, full eye of this? And I'm dying to love something specifically for the eyes. Every year I have to refresh the eye SPF and go through "if this, then that...."

I have the Avene tinted compact spf 50 in both shades, it helps with HEV/Blue light protection as well for my hyperpigmentation. I use it over LRP Shaka fluïde or Bioderma aqua fluïde spf 50, i use the darker shade as a bronzer and eye shadow:). LRP spf 50 invisible mist and colorescience spf 50 powder but that one is tricky. The brush can get sticky from the sunscreen on your face and the powder gets stuck in the center of the brush. Now i use it in an empty container with a retractable brush, more controle over the amount that way.
