Best of Risk Management · Part 1
EP 188: Best of Risk Management · Part 1
After sifting through the archive of near-200 episodes, I’ve compiled some of the best bits pertaining to risk management. As there were many bits I deemed fitting for a ‘best of’ episode, it made sense to split the compilation across two parts-this is part one, and part two will follow next (Episode 189).
The idea behind creating this compilation, is to reinforce the instrumental role that risk management plays in a traders’ ability to stay in the game. It can also serve as a go-to reference for anytime you find trading loses getting out of hand.
One other reason, is to highlight some past interviews which you have missed or skipped over. If you’d like to hear the full interview with any guest featured, you’ll find the link in the comments below.

Well said! I don't know what it is about Australia but they have a fantastic trading base.
43:08 funny how SBF said we need to beware of exchange hacks. 😂

Lol prophetic
Bankman-Fried was crystal clear about it!! The first risk for them was "the risk we don't make much money" and the second one to "be careful where we are putting our money". After that, he was sentenced to 25 years in prison for fraudulent actions against customers and investors.
I’ve got to admit. Last person was spot on.
I come back to this over and over. We need a risk management 3! Dan Shapiro is by far my favorite on this one! So relatable.
Aaahhhh, the irony of Sam Backman fried on a show about risk management.
Great job with the videos! Thanks for your contribution to the trading community. Keep up the good work.👍

For better risk management, you're advised to invest the same amount of money everytime you trade. Make this amount a specific proportion of your capital under management. Lets say if you choose to risk 3% of CUM, make sure it is constant.

Most traders look for quick money instead of smart money. The ability to be patient is extremely underrated. Let the opportunity come to you instead of always chasing it.

I don't mind some quick cash right now. I've been trading all by myself but can't seem to make any headway.
Love to listen to this podcast with my eyes closed and image the geico lizard interviewing traders. 😂

Back in my day to talk to the pros was amazing if you got that chance. We didn't have the internet or youtube like we do today. This is the greatest channel for any trader wanting to see the many perspectives from the some of the best traders. Great content
So here's SBF talking about risk management ... :)

Fantastic podcast Aaron, thanks for putting together this compilation!
I really enjoyed the Dan Shapiro part, in fact all the clips were fantastic, but his NY accent and the direct numbers he gave were awesome.

Aaron, another one of great episodes. You are doing a tremendous service for the trading community. Everyday I listen to one of the episodes of ‘Chat with traders’. Your work is highly appreciated and it was perfectly mentioned in the interview of Mike Bellafiore, where he appreciated the work you are doing for the trading community. Please keep doing this great work.

Almost none of these comments understand how and why risk management is implemented. Convergent trader hit it on the head implementing the same risk reduction model that turtle traders used in their breakout method.
awesome, thank you
Everyone had a quantitative way of defining risk and a really detailed explanation aside from SBF. I know hindsight is 20/20, but your biggest risk essentially being reasoned away as you were “unlucky” or “exchange risk” shows how unscientific that whole experiment was.
want to go broke? went all in! haha
Funny, listening to SBF’s vague risk management plan in this, it all makes sense
Very informal
funny seeing Sam Bankman on this podcast
OMG, thank you for this sampler I learned so much from Dan Shapiri, I'm going to watch his full episode!
Is lattering into positions the same as staggering into positions?..if it is than me and andy kershner enter the exact same way..i found that when i stagger my entries i can set SL away from market noise..so even if the market turns(whch it always does) i have a sweet cushion, and since ive figured out how to tell he main trend,i enter with high confidence.
No way!!! SBF on the risk management episode lol!
Thank Aaron
One simple way, to avoid getting liquidated, is to hedge your position. Go spot long when you are in a losing short. You can take profit either way. And if it keeps going against you then you have a good idea of the trend direction.

49:54 best advice
Learning about risk from Sam Bankman-Fried 😂 lol.
My favourite 29:33
🔥
Dan Shapiro part hahahahahahahaha my lord
SBF on this episode is the come to Jesus moment.
Sam Bankman-Fried seems to have guessed wrong on what his biggest risk was
I don't know this guy 17:54 but here are something very important
41 minutes the arch criminal Bankman Fried.
I have a question: With 70% Win Rate, there is 0,00059% of loosing 10 trades in a row. Why would I risk only 2%, if I risk the same amount every time, or 10% of my total capital per trade, I am mostly safe. Any thoughts?
What's "correlated number of shares?" 40:30
SBF just went to prison...he didn't check his risk...
Sam bank man fried said” it’s not like we have this machine that will keep printing money forever” lol
ohh hahahah sam bankman fried talks about risk managment hahahahahahaha Lovely!!!
You should do a podcast on your interview with Sam bakeman-Fried. Now looking back, you can see everything he was saying was completely lies! He had no basis of good trading or management. It all was a scam.
SAM BANKMAN AT 41 MIN... LOL
Who would told us, SBF talking about Risk Management
I worked and listened with my AirPods in.

Why is is that you always interview the traders that make the most money rather than the traders that have the best statistics overall?
i just skipped SBF lol
Andy Kershner, the Elon Musk of trading 😊
Ovaltine...what's the deal with that? they should call it roundtine
44:06 this does not age well Sbf lol
40:46 aged well
Lol maybe it's time to remove Sam Bankman-Fried from this episode 😆
