June 1983, Smalltown Anywhere, USA. It's 11:25 PM on a Saturday and my friends and I are hanging out in the parking lot of the first McDonald's that ever opened in our town. The lights were bright, but not so bright to make light pollution; overhead were thousands of stars scattered around like a planetarium. And the food was good. The car radios all tuned to the only FM channel playing night mix of stuff that sounded like this. We could see the last drive-in movie's big screen showing Flashdance but with no sound. No problems, just the music and food and being somewhere without your parents for once even you were only 2 miles from home. It was the sum of a perfect storm of a million little things that will never come together that way again.

The 80s was probably the most epic decade we've ever seen. I was just 9 at the end of the 80s, so didn't experience the full awesomeness of it either..

I was born in '83, and obviously I didn't get a chance to really appreciate this music. It's all about appreciating good music. I listen to classic rock almost all day, but listening to these jams really relaxes me.

Music didn't really sound like this in the 80's anyway, so it's fake nostalgia... But I agree this kind of music is very good at evoking that feeling.

This genre of music is just amazing. Very nice visual immersion too

As an European it was a pleasure to drive trough nighttime LA with this mix

About two years since first listening, I just want to come back and say thanks. This mix is what got me into synthwave. I can say my life is the better for having discovered the genre.

So glad that this is back. I have missed this mix like crazy!!

I was born in the 80s but grew up in the 90s and yet I can't let this synth stuff go. #goosebumps

synthwave, retro, or vaporwave its still beautiful to the ears!!!!

The seminal synthwave mix. Perfect transitions between songs, perfect song choices, perfect mix between vocals and instrumental. Just perfect.

The 80s - when America loved being America. On a separate note, 4 months ago I ran precisely 10 miles nonstop around the Reflecting Pool in Washington DC. Fueled only by the discovery of this mix. This is by far one of my favorite synthwave mixes of all time. This one and the original Stranger Synths mix are just BRILLIANT!

This & the Original "Stranger Synths" mix that was once on KZread are my two ALL TIME favorite mixes. They are just absolutely phenomenal, the songs, the sounds, the visuals on this one too. I've listened to this one so many times now. Thank you Gelbar!

I am absolutely in awe of this mix, because it has so many elements. I love how it slows down, but it speeds back up again. And each song is so uniquely different, yet they blend together so wonderfully. I keep coming back to this over and over again. It's such a beautifully unique and interesting mix due to how dynamically interesting and fluid the sounds are throughout.

6 years since the first time I listened to this mix, still loving it.

This is an unsually good mix. Usually Synthwaves will have some good relaxing tunes, mixed with out of place fast paced tunes. This mix gets it just about right.

Thank you for taking me back to a time where the world was a better place... A time where people were more friendly, nice and didn't hate each other as much. A time that will never come back. I miss the past.

Mohamed - Ignore the haters, you're absolutely right. I grew up in the 80's and would trade the vitriol and contempt people have for one another today for the disagreements over politics and social issues we had in the 80's any day. Let's hope that the pendulum has swung as far as it can go one way and will begin to swing back to a more civil time very soon.
