with the new re-release bringing more life into the game i wouldn’t be surprised if we did get marvel 2 as a retro game at evo sooner rather than later i wouldn’t be surprised if they did super turbo before getting to marvel 2 though

I'll never forget the day me and my cousin were at a convience stop on a school trip in 2000, and right in the corner there was a pedestal style arcade machine. The character select screen blew our 12 year old hearts out of our chest!

That machine was legendary. Had one at a local restaurant and me and my older brother always made sure to get a bunch of games in whenever we went there for birthdays and such.

They were so good at giving names to each character's attacks. Gene Splice? Gamma Crush? Berserker Barrage? C'mon!

MvC2's ost is simply too powerful to be contained by scuffed tech, no matter how ancient

1:20 - oh I got a story! In 2003 I made my first trip to Evo. My friends and I are from the Houston area, we frequented Stargate so we knew some people who were going. We never had hopes of winning, but just wanted to see how far we'd get. All of us went 2 up 2 down except for me, I beat one guy. And the very next person I played was RowTron. And they stuck me on the big screen with him. I was a completely unknown person, they even intro'd me as "some guy". Didn't have to tell me, I knew what this was, a combo exhibition lol. My friends from SG tried to give me a pep talk on the way up to the cabinet, but we all knew it wasn't going to do any good. And it didn't. He wiped the floor with me, even did some new tech like a mid air reset with sent, beat the hell out of me. But the second game, just after round start, I had IM on point and did a proton cannon and caught him and his assist on first attack. Somebody in the crowd went "RANDOM!". So a week later I had an all white plain shirt made with a tiny taunting IM on the back with "Random Proton Cannon" written underneath. I wore that fuckin shirt everywhere lol.

It was supposed to be one year… I think 2022… But evo was cancelled. But with this new release of MVC2 I’m CERTAIN they’ll bring it back like they intended to a while back in the next evo. You can bet on it

sony owns EVO, this game is in PS5 and Switch only, they for sure will do it.

This game means so much to me, it's where I got to know MvC in general!

The pause at 18:30 made me laugh, you KNOW Sanford was mashing for his LIFE to get that super. 🤣 So glad to see this game back!

This is going to be the retro game tournament named for EVO 2025 and we'll all get to watch it streaming. I can't wait. : D

I am so ready for 20 more years of MVC tournaments now that its accessible.

You could play this game forever and never get sick of it... such a deep roster and so many ways to win. Justin Wong contribution to the community deserves respect... so many in-game moments... great commentary highlighting other great players and new tech... a voice for the gamers... but, his tier list in particular has given the community a legit was to balance teams out by using the 7pt system.

I never got tired of it. Spent countless hours learning each character and didn't even come close to mastering any. Was just fun to spam the same attacks and air juggle your opponents
