So I think the joke is just how similar Jack and his mom really are, that they both pinpointed that same aspect of Liz that they both appreciate.

The best casting EVER. No one could have played this role but Elaine Stritch. I’m convinced that half the time the producers didn’t give her a script-they just told her a vague outline and let her loose on the other actors. :p

Jessica Walter would have easily worked, but yes, Elaine Stritch is everything in this.

I’ll forever be grateful that this show allowed us to have a final moment of closure with Ms. Stritch.

Missed one of my favorites, even though it's in one of the scenes featured, specifically in the hospital room. Colleen said something like "Can you believe this is the best room they have? This is supposed to be a *hospital*, not a Japanese internment camp I volunteered at. During the war."

Elaine and Alec's chemistry was incredible. "She will be treated humanely; there will be no escape"

It’s difficult to stand out as a guest star in 30 rock. But Elaine stood out and shined. RIP Madam Stritch

I just love her outrage as she says "How do I tell my chums at the Deathshore retirement home that MY SON KNOCKED UP A PROTESTANT!!!?"

My favorite Colleen moment is when Jack showed up to take her to dinner: Colleen: Jack, what are you doing here? Jack: I came to take you to dinner. Colleen: Not dinner. Breakfast. I told your girl. Jack: My assistant's name is Jonathan. Colleen: Yes I know I've met him. Viciously funny.

@@adelebz7 Oh she is, I loved her in Interiors too (the Woody Allen film). I've just been binge watching episodes of Curb Your Enthusiasm with Tracey Ullman-- another astonishing talent. She's so good in the show. Perfect casting choice. Good comedy in our era is so thin on the ground, both 30 Rock and Curb are head and shoulders above the rest. :)

This show got me through grad school, ‘07-‘09, and was in its prime. Elaine Stritch as Colleen was the perfect casting for Jack’s mother given who he is. 👍🏼

Finally Colleen. There were so many "Best of" videos on the channel but now gone. Bring back Best of Lutz.
