the insanity of she saying "I didn't like the effect it had" and she was reacting to gaining three pounds, not supporting child manslaughter the same as buster, during the funeral/coffin trick, upon realising that his dad was dead being upset not because of the death of his father, but about the card he left

I love how Lucille actually starts a lot of the running gags in the show, and everyone just kinda follows along eventually...like a true matriarch 👸

Her performance and the writing are both pieces of art. I love how complex her character is in that although she's a horrible mother, that horribleness is manifested in different dynamics depending on which child she's dealing with. Job: she flats out hates, Buster: she controls, Lindsay: she puts down, and Michael: she emotionally manipulates and guilt-trips.

This show was so well-written and well-cast. Sometimes I just put it on in the background to listen to it while I do housework and occasionally I have to sneak peeks, because the visual gags are so great

Funny story about this show. I had a guy break up with me because I had friends over and one brought a plus 1. Well me and the plus one were like the only ones who had ever heard of this show and religiously watched it. So of course we bonded over it and we’re laughing our butts off. Yeah the ex didn’t like that and stormed out 😂😂😂. Thank you Lucille, I dodged a bullet 😂😂😂

AD was absolutely fantastic in its first 3 three seasons, but the Netflix seasons were crap. In any case, Jessica Walter was simply extraordinary. Her delivery was impeccable.

I caught part of an interview with her a few years ago where there was a posting for an actress to voice Archer’s mother. And in the description was something about how they wanted to model the mother off of Lucille Bluth. The rest is history. I completely agree with your take as she was amazing in both roles and she is sorely missed.

Her agent saw that description for the casting call and I think they got it to Jessica,and she came and auditioned like anyone else even though the role was created for her. She was grade A class.
