Best of 318 LA / Magnum Sound Combo and Clips - Mopar - Hughes Steamroller 218/222 Roller Cam
This was a previous engine combination in the car, and walked circles around current mild LA setup. This was a 1987 Roller 318 block, stock magnum heads, edelbrock air-gap intake, Hughes SER1822ALN-10 camshaft. 218/222 duration at .050 and .539/.549 lift on 110 lobe angle. Matching hughes valve spring kit. Ran a 670 quickfuel brawler carb. Unfortunately failing cam bearings led to oiling issues and I opted for an inexpensive setup to get car going again. But I have these videos and wanted to do something with them! Enjoy! Would absolutely build this combination again!

Man..that thing revs so fast. Makes me want to go try mine again 😅
Those cars were very popular in the 80's when I was a kid. That is an awesome build!! Fantastic choice on the wheels, it brings the whole look together! My uncle had the (same color) Fifth Avenue 318, with the vinyl top/seats, fully loaded, with tinted windows and spoked Wheels and white wall tires. Beautiful car and it drove an rode fantastic! Those cars are very underappreciated. It was pretty much like the Cadillac for Chrysler Corp in their day.
There's a local guy that has a 408"(5.7 stroker using Scat forged rotating assembly) Magnum in a Mirada that runs low 10s using Edelbrock heads - extensively reworked - and a hydraulic roller. The car is rather gutted for a street driver, but it has reeled in some cars that looked much faster. I like the Magnum blocks as they seem pretty strong and are roller cam ready.
You wouldn't expect a sound coming from a car like that
Just put the same cam in a 360 magnum. Did cam eddy air gap intake and shorty headers. Cant wait to see what it will do in my 86 w-150
318s are the little engines that CAN!!!
Man, that thing sounds excellent and seems like it has no problem getting out of it's own way.
That thing sounds Amazing!!! Love me a modded 318. 👍
I want this
That’s one street rod Plymouth gran fury
Man iv always wanted to build one of these. The interior was so classy for the 80s and id build it very similar engine/looks wise. Sounds excellent brother 💪
Holy crap that was awesome. Looks like it pulls all the way to 6k
That is one SUPER SWEET SOUNDING 318!!!
