HPR in the Mopar . THIS IS THE WAY
Scotty, the Chrysler engineering team put those oil grooves there for a good reason. That little stream of oil made for the LA series of engines to have a fantastic reliability record because of the proper attention paid to oiling all the rotating bits as well as the cylinder walls. The newer 5.7 'Hemi' as they call it, is positively eating cams and tappets in vehicles that idle allot because they aren't lubing the cam and tappets from above or below thanks to design changes from the venerable LA, which they replaced. Nothing like a big slice of humble pie for new engineers when it's delivered by engineers from the 50's and 60's! So, you are totally right that those galleries should be squirting. All these bearing manufacturers are not worth the fingernail clippings of those old engineers who created the machinery that helped win WWII.

Good job VALVOLINE for sponsorship. I use & like VALVOLINE high temp bearing grease, it's good stuff.
You missed a word in that contract Scotty. "Must use a BIG shifter once per show!" 😁👍

Another awesome episode Scotty….ya Mummas gap joke was some of your best work😂😂👌🏼
Man Scotty i nearly spat out my drink when made that gap quip. Hahaha

Awesome to see your still able to get some time at The Shop. Thx Valvaline for all their help with getting you guys of to a great start.
This is the first video of yours I've ever seen and I love it. Great works. Thanks for the content.
awesome work and nice clean looking motor
On the rod bearings you could have drilled oil feed holes in the bearings. Seen it done many times.

Well done Scotty and boys of Street Machine, top show and magazine
Looking forward to hearing it fire up! Had a 318 in a '62 S-Series Valiant many years ago. Such a sweet engine.
The way things are going (not you guys), but Mopar Sunday 2027 should be a goer (depending on lockdowns of course...)
Loving this series, can't wait to see it run, cheers!
What an educational video. Thanks for your expertise and detail.
'Gasket Goo' that brings back some memories of fixing an old Datsun 200b back in the 90's! Good times! Keep up the great work Scotty!!!
very educational ive messed with cars for forty years but never rebuilt an engine , swapped heads and and done auto to manual swaps ,so for me this was a great video thanx
Love your work Scotty, awesome content
Done well Scotty, (thanks Valvolene), keep at it mate your doing a top job cob, dads ute will be awesome with you on the job.
Love the 318! Internally balanced, just needs compression , cam, and stout rods with quality bearings. Not only that you can get quality alumunum heads and intake for em, but never ever use anything but a Holley or thermoquad carb. Edelbrocks are passable but certainly not the best. The old carter afb is far superior to an edelbrock copy
Love your work Scotty, keep up the awesome content mate 👍
I like your motor build episodes as we lesrn alot thanks mate.

Great job! Learned a lot Thank you. John

Great Video Scott!
Hey Scotty, a tip for the No.5 main bearing housing vs oil pump. You need to mill down the cap (nut face) to create additional clearance for stud to pump. By memory I gave it around 5-6mm.

Keep going Scotty. Can’t afford a project and this is the next best thing.
Hey Scotty, loved the safety squint, made me laugh.
Thanks!
love your work scotty. Probably searched cylinder head job, lol
Awesome Scotty
Hi scotty did went thru the same shit with the arp bolt that was hitting the oil pump and just went with the factory main bolt like u did and works a treat. Just one pointer bud , take the time to smooth out the oil pump and cap feed hole for smooth oil flow . Cheers george
Nothing like a good squirter Scotty, messy but exciting.oh no mixing rod bearings l see the future of rod thru block
Yeah, MOPAR baby😁
Nice work mate 👍
bloody excited scotty
Pity i wasnt there Scott, could have helped you knock up a simple jig based off old rid bearings assembled with oil holes and used jig to drill correct hole into the two halves. A light oil stone of the burrs from the drill process, clean thoroughly and you are golden. Mass produce and sell jig on ebizzle...
GOOD MAN.........PERFECT VIDEO😂
thx valvoline
Great
Nice progress
Hey Scotty. It is always a good Idea to leave a steel welsh plug in, as they act as a sacrificial anode. and that is also true with a die cast alloy t/stat housing. replace a cheap part or 2 or replace cylinder block/ heads
The old shifter or as my cousin who's a mechanic calls it the Adjustable Nut F**ker. Good to see you back in the workshop👌🏻

@@davydoo81 It's a recipe for throwing away money if you ask me. I can picture a spun bearing, a scored journal and schwarf through the entire motor and another rebuild. Not good when Scotty is already on a tight budget. The mix of bearing wasn't measured for round either. The plastic is ok for measuring clearance, but it doesn't measure all the way around the bearing inner surface. I hope I'm wrong but........
thanks scotty
"That's the kinda gap your momma's got".😂
Pre 1974 LA blocks are the highest quality, they may be heavier, but far stronger for high hp builds. Most are using magnum blocks because theyre already roller lifter( easy)
Regarding the conrod bearing hole squirter situation.Kings bearings makes them with the oil squirter hole.
Yaaaaasss, all the nitrous!!
awesome work scotty its coming along nicely, what a shame the main studs were such a shit fight tho. you handled it well mate maybe they should sponsor you for a bit👍
Valvoline whyyyyy? Nulon, time to shine fella's, Aussie Aussie Oi Oi! Geeze the Teen is giving you some serious ballache Scotty, im surprised ARP haven't added an alternative to the OEM bolts to their Teen kit, its a major oversight when you have to start chopping off bits to make stuff fit AND going back to the old OE bolt. So this 318 is going to be more like the 340 which were a pearler of a donk just unobtanium these days, The Mule Ute 340 version with the NuProcess Manual Box was a dream spec of mine (Info for the Punters, Chrysler Aus used VF and VG ute's shortened to test/develop the VH Charger platform) but a Teen is looking more likely for me now when I get sick of the 245 column shift eventually with some hypertec's and other goodies. Actually maybe Holley or Edelbrock would be interested in sponsoring Carnage and getting some coverage in Street Machine, christ knows we buy enough of their stuff.

the 318 ci four barrel engine made 175 hp two barrel made 125 it will be a tall order to produce 400 hp with over the counter parts unless a strocker crank is installed then its not a 318 ci any longer. it will need 1.27 hp percubic in. I hope it can be done looking forward to watching.
