    LS2 valiant owner here. The single color helmet is $299 from multiple retailers, and my Sena 10C mounts perfectly fine right under the chinbar hinge. It's great with glasses, the vents are very functional, unlike other ls2 helmets, and the chin/screen are a joy to use. The glass has couple of built in stopping points, so it's easy to leave it slightly cracked, leaving about 1/2" air gap, a feature not available in any other helmet I've owned before. The sunshade is excellent in operation, sun protection and coverage. If you looking for negatives, the microphone is really hard to mount because of the forward protrusion. The opening shape is kinda weird and takes getting used to. It's rather heavy overall, even by modular helmet standards. Just like all other LS2 helmets, the interior liner has that fucking cord around the perimeter, pain in the ass to reassemble. The styling is unorthodox, so not everyone is going to be impressed. But I do get many positive comments from other riders. The 180 degree flip is a great feature. And for the money, there is no competition.

    @@Kornholeeoo That is my take also... but in all honesty some riders don't go faster than 50mph on a regular basis, so noise might not be a big issue.. the Neotecs are nice looking, well made and extra quiet but also too expensive for the occasional rider. I like mine but it's not the one I use the most.. be safe, have fun!

  • @Kornholeeoo

    @Kornholeeoo

    Durox Kilo Yep. I totally understand the price issue. I have a half shell that I wear if I’m just going to putter down to the store. Fastest speed would be like 40 MPH. But if I’m gonna be on a highway or interstate, it’s gonna be the Neotec or Schuberth. And although I do love FortNine’s videos and the wealth of information this site brings, he’s all about the weight. I’ve never found 1800-1900 grams to be heavy. But I’m a bigger dude so maybe it’s more noticeable to others. 1850gms is just 4lbs. I remember when kids were way heavier, LOL. I partition some studies when California passed the helmet law back in 1990 or so. The data they used to pass it was totally flawed and skewed to make it look like it was a no brainer. Had they put out the factual data and not twisted it to their favor, I doubt it would have passed.

    @@Kornholeeoo Can’t hold a candle? I tried the Neotech 2 aka the brick and the c3…. Needless to say I ride in the HJC Carbon. Lighter. Still debating on if it’s quieter. It’s close close. The good part is the carbon version is different in a few areas, the bad part is the carbon version costs the same as the Neotech 2

    stewillett ls2 also wears out faster then most, they are made cheaply . They seem to offer superior value for money until 9-12months down the road and you wonder why your helmet is now noisy as hell and starting to wear out. I have had several friends who will never buy another ls2 again I have one who has same helmet as here, the chin bar latch is worn already he has to close it rather hard to get it to lock. Compairing to my shark evoline yes the shark is twice as much but it's also still tight and still comfy and still works as the day I bought it about a year ago. This may not hold true with all ls2 helmet but it does on the few I have seen which is every ls2 helmet I have seen. LoL

    @@russ02281990 spot on. LS2 seems fantastic for features, finish, and comfort at their price point. But they become insanely loud. My LS2 assault became unbearably loud after three months when the seals on the visor became useless. . My brother has an assault that did the same after around 10 months, though he rides way less than me. I replaced the LS with a Schuberth and relegated the LS to just bring used to drive to work. I eventually had a wreck on my dual sport near home when I hit a dog going about 45mph while test driving after a sporcket change. The LS2 did see me through to no head injuries, so I can't complain on that end for $170

    for the past few years, i've used a Zox Condor helmet. I found that for just over $100 its been a great bucket. Its got washable and replaceable inserts, hyperallergenic, deep ear sockets for comms speakers, good venting, nose guard and chin curtain, and fits nicely on my XL noggin...also, i found that the bronze inner visor has been brilliant on days that are very glarey and when used at night, really cuts down that blinding headlight glare but also seems to make the lines on the road really stand out, almost as if they were underlit

    Since my crash in 2015, with my girlfriend on the back, we never used modular/flip-up helmets anymore. The helmets were closed at the time of crash, but if she had it open it would damage her face. Ryan, as a US rider I take exception to your comment about ratchet helmet straps. For 8 years now I've enjoyed riding over 200k (miles) with Schuberth C3, C3pro and most recently the E1. I can secure or release the ratchet quickly and easily with gloves on, compared to those annoyingly cumbersome D-rings. Plus Schuberth offers a 3XL size that fits me well and I have yet to find with any other modular helmet. Now with the E1, i appreciate the detachable peak, which works well as an eyeshade when riding directly towards the Sun. My only real complaint would be the nearly useless PinLock, which I removed after finding the view both more blurry and not particularly effective on reducing fogging.

    I’ve owned the HJC, the Schuberth E1 (aka, C3 Pro) and now the Neotec 2. Hands down winner is the Neotec 2. Proper sizing. Comfort. Quiet as the E1 without getting a decibel meter, just my opinion. Locks without having to manipulate the cheeks. And it’s the first helmet in my life of 48 years of riding that when I put it on, it doesn’t fold my ears down. I have no problem with the weight and it feels lighter when at speed. It doesn’t rock forward on my head like the stiff neck roll causes on the E1, so my eyes are in the center of the visor opening. And my head fits in it like a hand in a well worn glove. I have a 61.5 cm head and the XL is spot on. I had a 2XL with the E1 but needed a 3XL. HJC??? 4XL to fit my head!!! WTF? Anyway, the com system arrives today. Cardo needs to step it up with their contracts as made-to-fit com units are the thing of the future. And by the way, the neck-roll Cardo unit on the Schuberts sucked like a $600 Dyson vacuum! I actually tossed it in the garbage after a year. So hard it rocked the lid forward so bad the visor opening was on top of my eyebrows and the regular neck roll was not much better. It was quiet, I’ll give it that, but I cannot tell the difference from the Neotec 2. The HJC? Well it’s not too bad for a budget lid. I was able to sell it for just $50 less than I paid for it and dude loved it but he had a quiet bike. My Harley is obnoxiously loud and I love it! Thanks for the video. Good stuff here!

    Scorpion's EXO-GT920 is a great helmet at its price, and for a little more the EXO-GT3000 gets you a few more features. Surprised none of their stuff made it in.

    Really wish you'd do one of these this year, you're one of the few I trust for picking this stuff and I want new info. (First helm is actually the same scorpion as you use).

    Thanks for that video. I am looking for a flip up for commuting and the HJC RPHA 90 looks to be worth taking a closer look at.

    Going from a HJC ISMAX-2 to a Neotec 2, gotta say the neotec just feels all around better. More solid chin bar in both up and locked positions. Also the neotec fits my dome a bunch better. the HJC liner had this really bad sewing spot on the forehead area which left a painful dent across my head after wearing it a while. Modified the stitching for it and that did help.

    Great video! Bought the Neotech II with SRL and have been using it for a few months. I really don't like either, so the price results in buyer's remorse. I do not find the helmet to be quiet, nor do I find the SRL to be loud enough or to have decent sound quality. I do like the Neotech for the plush cushioning, its seal against rain, and the ease of sun visor deployment. Otherwise, I dislike the lack of D-ring on the chin-strap and that the front visor cannot be cracked to be just barely open. The SRL voice-com doesn't listen, cannot be heard well, but does have nice exterior weather-proofing. I guess YMMV.

    Bought the HJC (the exact one (IS-Max II Magma) shown at 8:34 on the bottom there) last year! Been an absolute joy to own and use! Awesome value. Wouldn't mind the slight upgrade to the RPHA tho.

    Awesome video Ryan! Like always. One thing. My HJC 90S Carbon was the same price as the Neotech 2. It’s 2021 now, but know if you get the HJC in Carbon, you will not be saving any money.

    Great review! I have first bought neolec 2, it is heavy, it creates hot spot on my head and can only be used with outdated sena comm. I have returned it. Than i bought AGV Sport modular! What a mistake! Built quality is very bad, my helmet was replaced as the side panels cracked and it took AGV two months to do this. The comfort is very bad due to the choking strap. It could have been a great helmet, but it is not. Now I'am back to my C3 pro and i love it!
