How reliable are the land rovers past 100k?

About as unreliable as they are under 100,000 kilometers, if not more so. LOL

The air suspension is hardly the worst of your worries on a Disco 3 so why go with springs. Madness.

Replacing the entire air suspension costs around €5.000 and does not alleviate the risk of catastrophic failure off-road. Utilizing the ARB heavy-load coil-over conversion cost around €1.500 in total and eliminated that concern. Again, the purpose of the series was not to discuss whether the Land Rover Discovery 3 or 4 was the best choice for an overlanding vehicle, which clearly it is NOT, but whether the modifications we made to it classified it to be "The Best in the World" for its Make and Model. Lord knows we had our fair share of failures from transmissions, to drive shafts, gearboxes, intercoolers, alternators, the list goes on-and-on. The coil-over conversation, at least, gave us one less problem to have to worry about. We hope you enjoy our videos and we appreciate you supporting the channel. Thanks~!

@@overlanditaly I see your point then. Doesn’t cost that here in the UK tho to my knowledge. Surely it’s rare for the whole system to die in a one’r though? Single air bags and valves etc? Yeah a lot of components to fail tho agreed. Maybe get a V8 in it for more reliability and do away with crank failure stress. 🤣

The compressor, in Italy, costs around €1.206 with our 22% VAT. The sensors and valves are another €1,400 with tax and installation. The original Land Rover air suspension runs around €750 each, again with tax and installation. My compressor was beginning to fail, working sometimes and not others. And when one airbag goes the rest will soon follow suit, its just a matter of when and, more importantly, where. However, if I were a mechanic and could purchase the parts at reduced prices and install them myself I'm sure it would cost far less. Unfortunately I am not a mechanic and that makes the LR3 and LR4 difficult (ie. expensive) vehicles to own given their propensity for failures. Moreover, it was the wrong platform (for me). I wanted something I could live "in" for months at a time, which is why we purchased the Iveco VM-90.
