You're welcome, Hugo. I'm glad you find my videos useful. Thanks for the comment.
I've watched most of your fruit grafting videos, I grew 5 apple trees from seed about 8ish years ago the apples ranged from just plain bad to look great but taste mealy.. I was just going to chop them down and buy some nursery ones when I stumbled on your videos.. So this spring I cut one of the trees down leaving about 2ft of stump got some scions from a friends tree (which is very tasty) and applied the lessons I learned watching your videos and it worked just this week the scions started budding out so thank you.. I cant wait till next spring so I can do the other 4 trees...

@@JSacadura Thank you, when I grew the trees I had no idea it was a lottery and assumed you plant a seed from a tasty apple you get a tree with tasty apples.. But it all worked out as I got 5 strong trees with established root systems I can now graft a variety of tasty apple varieties onto.. I'll be looking after my newly budded scions like they're babies till they're fully established..

Leave a few limbs of your original trees, maybe they will produce better with a different cross pollinator.

@@ayatti26 I will do that with the next 4 to be honest with the first tree I honestly didn't think it would work as I'm known as black thumb to my friends as every plant I touch dies shortly after I touch them lol, but pollination shouldn't be a problem both my neighbors have lots of apple trees... Unfortunately we don't get on but the bees don't care...

Awesome content , thank you for sharing with us , only thing left for me to do is practice getting the cuts right and doing it at the right time of year , spring here in Australia is September , I’d love to graft or produce cuttings from a wine grape veriety , I have red table grapes but my heart is with wine making so grafting maybe what I need if I can get my hands on some graft cuttings from wine varieties.

Still learning so much from you. I've been trying the whip-tongue technique on my avocado grafts with some success (not 100%). The softer avocado wood requires a lot of patience in knife control. I plan to post a video of a couple of "success" stories in the next few days, and I'll cross-link to your channel.

I would like to know does the rootstock produce buds? It is grafted with wax and there are two buds growing from underneath the wax joint. I might end up with different grape variety.
Great and resistant varieties are Ljana, Lasta, Moldava. I am looking for some of these of my own.

Hi Sacadura- I did the whip and tongue technique to graft onto old root stock. This was done around mid winter and was v happy when the bud burst in early spring. However after a while they started shivering. What was wrong and is there any way to rescue the graft? Thanks

What material do you use to bind the grafting? Kind of raffia?
Please mention your location so that weather could be observed. You didgrafting on 25 April.
When do you remove parafilm tape from the grafted plant?

whip and tongue appears best for almost all plants when there is equal diameter stem and scion.

Where is you located at? and where did you buy these already grafted rootstocks? is that those grafted rootstock already having roots or you are rooting them just right before grafting? Thanks a lot.
So you're no longer putting the bags or foil for the first few weeks of grafts?
What is the black tape and can you provide the company that makes it.
Does the raffia dissolve during the year or does all the tape and raffia need to be removed?
@OakSummitNursery
Жыл бұрын
the raffia should be cut off later in the season, it doesn't expand and fall off like the parafilm. It's shown in several other videos where there's a follow up result.
What about grafting in tropical climates that don’t experience dormant season?
@JSacadura

There are other techniques that are more suited for grafting in that situation with "green" cuttings. Check the channel and you will find several videos on the subject.
Why does dormant scion need?....can just graft with active scion?
@JSacadura
2 жыл бұрын
Dormant scions are more forgiving. The rootstock is awake and the flow of sap gives nutrients and energy to the new tissues of the graft. If the scion is active the window for success is much narrower and the percentages of success are usually lower.

The inside of the scion looks normal at first glance. We will see if it's really diseased when it grows.
