There seems to be a common trend now of saying something has bad writing because it adds to lore or shows a new perspective of a franchise with different kinds of people, Amandla stenberg is doing an amazing job and the show from a creative stand point is good, it’s a shame that a lot of the franchises fans have puritanical ideas about what the franchise should be and who gets to have the biggest display of power and character development, where as other franchises like game of thrones can explore new characters no matter who they are because eventually no big talent behind or in front of the camera will want to be a part of the franchise and its already on a hiatus for film, all it will do is create more anger from people that want the franchise to return to something it never was initially.

Looks like I might be in the minority but I’m really enjoying the intrigue and feel of this series. Yes it has its flaws. But so do a lot of different shows. But I think it’s refreshing for Star Wars to explore something outside of the timelines created by the films. And I for one would like to see more of this and other eras. Helps keep the franchise fresh and evolving in my opinion. Great reaction guys. And yes. There is definitely a lot more we are not seeing re the way and reason the coven all died. Ooh you guys are right; I didn’t realize that we only actually see Mae set fire to the book. I’d been thinking that the Mae that set the fire was either influenced or a force illusion, but you guys have a good point. Whatever happened, we know the Jedi partook in something so regrettable that Torbin drank poison. Looking forward to finding out the whole story. I really enjoyed this episode, and the look into this other Force culture. I’m a casual SW fan, so my only experience with witches of this world was in Jedi Fallen Order, where we’re introduced to Dathomir & the Nightsisters. Unclear if these are refugee Nightsisters or another type of sect. But overall, very cool episode

Yea I can’t wait to see what happens im super intrigued! I like seeing other cultures as well, it’s a massive galaxy of course there’s gonna be different interpretations of the force. They will make out the jedi are evil and they killed everyone and the sister hood were good, even though the sisterhood follow what a Sith would do..

It's ''Dangerous outside the fortress walls" and then no callback? No payoff with a Dangers of the nighttime forest scene? That was a cool location shot but I guess they only had it a day. Then it's back to the set.

Idk for me KOTOR 1 and 2 were peak Star Wars. This just feels like someone invites you over for steak, then serves beef liver instead. My problem isnt with the people that actually enjoy beef liver, its with the people calling beef liver steak, then turning around and blaming me for thinking beef liver tastes like a cows grasshole. Basically what im trying to say is this does not feel like Star Wars, but lashing out at people for enjoying it is childish and petty, and so is the media for bashing old-school fans.

Yea it’s kind of a lose-lose honestly, I don’t blame people for not liking it, it’s not my favorite Star Wars thing ever but it’s got potential to get better. That being said the people who call me terrible things for enjoying something have no sympathy from me 😂 but there are many true Star Wars fans out there who don’t like this and that’s cool

Yeah this ep absolutely ripped. Loved the Roshamon influence in having Osha be an unreliable narrator at the end. Really powerful, emotional ep. It was also really cool to see a new force sect and their different beliefs, morality, and customs.

Disney's been dusting off Kurosawa's frozen Head all day, just praying some respectability rubs off. Hidden Fortress being A New Hope's template and samurai aesthetic being Star Wars makes them find ANY connection. This dude has bot farm takes. Seeding the narrative. You guys are cool.

​@@ItzWilson2 It is poor writing. Like rock fortress burning easily, and also that fire in space in previous episode. The main witch teaching about the force/thread, saying it is not a weapon, and yet she uses it to demonstrate how she can overpower one witch using the thread like a weapon. Then their mantra saying many are greater than one, and yet alone she was able to overpower 2 witches. And then back to that saying that it is not a weapon and yet she uses it to easily mind-control one of the jedi, who coincidentally is a white guy (subtext much?). The writers are always contradicting themselves, like in the 1st episode when that mystery Sith(?) said that Jedis are hard to kill with simple weapons, but like few mins ago Mae killed a jedi with a simple knife. Also that cringey witch chant/mantra sounds like written by highschoolers. They are also kinda breaking the lore of Anakin being a Force immaculate conception, if they're making it canon that these twins were born without a father and using the force, and appeared like hundred years before Anakin. Also, that meditating Jedi for 10 years, that just took the poison out of guilt, when he could have just let Mae killed him the first time she was there. Like what the show is saying, it is not about the show being good or bad, it is about power, and currently they have the power to spread their political/feminist propaganda, and the power to shit on and annoy SW fans, who in majority are men.

However, I do think the scene where they are singing that chant about power of one...power of two....power of many is shockingly cringe. Just awful. CW level show. The child actors who play the twins werent very good, though they arent responsible for the terrible dialogue, and the story that basically suggest they were created from the force is a disservice to Anakins story. The part where they allude to homophobia in the galaxy, though brief, is also ridiculously stupid. The over all plot is just not interesting and the fire that is started from a candle somehow burns the stone fortress down which is also just ridiculous. Also, the force hadoukens looked ridiculous. So were the scenes where they were force battling was more cringe.

@@jokerski3250 there’s a lot in what you said that’s wrong (like how there’s an idea that they’re persecuted by the galaxy for being gay, which is never stated and frankly doesn’t seem to be the case at all, unless you’re projecting your own biases onto the show) but I need to focus on the Anakin thing, because what you said is *very* wrong about that. If anything, this episode strengthens Anakin’s story. But really, it doesn’t have much of an effect on Anakin at all. Anakin was canonically created by *the living force itself* as a means to seek entropy; balance. No living being was involved (beyond Schmi, obviously) in that. The twins in this show were created by dark magik witches. Those are very, very different things. And we know from the Darth Plagueis novel that this would’ve been *exactly* the type of power that Plagueis would’ve been obsessed with and learning as much as possible about. If anything, seeing this power in existence at the very beginning of Plagueis’ life is a concrete tie to that story which reinforces what we know about Plagueis while also strengthening everything that comes after that…including Anakin.

This is one of the worst things I have ever seen.

@@ItzWilson2 CW material across the board, man. The direction, production, even the acting in parts was embarrassing. Literally embarrassing. I won’t even bother talking about the writing because apparently that’s the last thing anyone in the Star Wars fanbase cares about anymore. So just the whole production was genuinely amateur. Which is crazy considering this one sub-30 min episode cost double the whole movie of Godzilla Minus One. I don’t know what’s going on at Disney or why the quality has completely collapsed there, but something has gone terribly wrong.

Directing sure, have to hard disagree on the fights tho, I feel those have been filmed and choreographed very well. I’m down to hear ab the writing, it isn’t blowing me away or anything for sure. Like that witch chant and song was a little weird. Only acting I haven’t liked is some of the kids’ stuff in this ep, but I give a lot of leeway to them.

I like the show and was stunned by all the hate. Osha telling her Mom she wanted to be a Jedi made me cry a little. It isn't perfect but it isn't bad. Too bad there is an industry based on crapping on all things Disney.

@@brianalex5083 I'm an OG fan. Almost 50. Read over a hundred of the books. Episodes 7,8 and 9 broke me and made me furious. I was pissed they dropped the EU. This story is fine. The acting is fine. It's only episode 3, wtf do we know about the story? It has barely had time to develop and I'm curious to see the Rashoman idea play out. I smell betrayal and I'm excited to see who it will be.

Sorry, but I'm not buying it... The Acolyte completely misses the point of Star Wars. DEI politics aside (which seems to be the main thing the show wants to push), the writing is just awful, the acting laughable, and they completely disregard any prior SW lore, giving a gigantic middle finger to the fans. The whole episode was so cringe I can't believe I finished watching it. SW has turned into a joke when people who have zero respect for the IP are in charge. They need to fix this ASAP.
