    I dispute the fact that Carrie Ann Moss brings the most gravitas to being a Jedi and I submit that Mr. Lee Jung-jae brings the most gravitas as Master Sol. EVERYTHING about the way he performs the role is exactly how I thought the Jedi were supposed to be. I'm so glad he took the role, and he just disappears into it. I'm a Master Sol stan all the way.

    Idc about culture wars, I like seeing diverse characters yet this show is awful. “Attack me with all of your strength” is an awful line that’s delivered terribly. “Jedi only pulls her weapon when she’s prepared to kill” same episode Yord uses his lightsaber as a flashlight. Mae’s sith master delivers a horrible speech about how steel and laser are no match against Jedi, yet Carrie Ann Moss is killed by a tiny steel blade. This show is so bad and it has nothing to do with culture wars. These people probably loved Season 8 of Game of Thrones.

  • @Fangtorn

    @Fangtorn

    19 күн бұрын

    @@ahmorgan Kinda nitpicking, tho. Like you're entitled to your opinion but you're like "this show is awful!" and then your example is one line of dialogue that's meant to be cheesy, they literally laugh at her, and another line you're obviously taking too literally. Jedi only pull their lightsaber when they're prepared to kill _when they're in combat_ like cops are only supposed to draw their firearm when prepared to shoot, but also they use lightsabers in training or as a tool too. Yord using his saber as a lightsource while pursuing a dangerous fugitive into a dark cave doesn't mean he isn't also prepared to use it. You're comparing two things that superficially contradict each yet make sense in context. This is isn't media criticism, this is pedantry. Mae threw a lot of tiny blades at Indara, she only killed her by using her concern for civilians against her. That speech is about not relying on weapons to kill Jedi but their weaknesses. Again, you don't have to like Mae's Master's speech but you also don't have to take it so literally you miss the point.

    😮 I was wondering why she didn’t pull the light saber during the whole fight, but then they dropped the line, a Jedi doesn’t draw their saber unless they mean to kill. That is a great line and it also tells you that the Jedi will only use the light saber asked the last resort to defend themselves. Whereas all the other iterations, the first thing they do is start drawing light sabers left and right. Makes me wonder if the Jedi during this time period. Have a different philosophy than the Jedi’s in the later timeline that their philosophy changed somewhat.😮 Oh you know what I just remembered Ezra Bridger didn’t use a light saber either he fought without it just like they’re doing now interesting isn’t it?😮

    Okay. I love exploring the High Republic era of ‘Star Wars’. Perhaps I shall read books from ‘The High Republic’! I enjoy the fact various writers are collaborating and playing with each other’s characters in that series! *SPOILERS* Carrie-Anne Moss is only in this episode - and possibly the entirety of the series - for a little bit, but Master Indara is my favorite character of the show! She rocks! With that information stated, I hope the writers commit to her death; I believe killing off such a major and heavily marketed character is such a bold move on the part of Leslye Headland (a MARVELOUS writer). I do not wish for any of the creators to undo the boldness of such a decision by bringing back the character later in the series. I love ‘The Acolyte’ thus far! One of my other favorites is Master Sol; Lee Jung-jae is doing such wonderful acting with that character, and I love the writing.

    I've struggled ridiculously with this series so far. Im really starting to see Disneys underlying method of "Tell dont show" writing and its emptiness and severe lack of stakes, character, or life. The concepts and themes should compliment Star Wars very strongly - The detective and mystery elements work exceedingly well for the Jedi. I feel the majority of the actors are given static, lifeless direction without really being able to inject personality into their roles. Their inclusion of a diverse range of actors is brilliant - their use of and actually creating interesting dynamics with these voices: Where is it? Hopefully, the story will unravel organically with actors coming into their own. Sol - Works, having a host of other characters as sentinel and thoughtful doesn't. This show has the potential like andor to create an organic, edgy, and unique perspective to a galaxy ripe with possibilities. I'll stay hopeful for Epsiode 3. Im equally happy for those who are enjoying it, though - theres positives to be gleamed definitely.

    I watched the 2 episodes that are out yesterday and yea I cant agree about the show being good. So far I can agree that the production side looks amazing. Fight scenes are fun. But the story telling is bad. Im seeing a lot of commonalities amongst reactors, trying to find ways to justify whats happening. "Maybe this, maybe that" instead of the writer(s) showing us whats up. One could probably attribute that to the mystery box method they're obviously using but you gotta show us something. Even a quick 10 second flashback showing 2 babies crying or for Torbun; 2 cloaked figures contemplating with one another "is this the jedi way?", something. Its been mystery box, well this person is now dead. Another mystery box, welp hes dead now too. Im hoping it gets better but right now Im not getting any feeling of investment. Sol is probably the only person im liking right now. He's delivering how the Jedi seem to be. Calm but dominant. A teacher but still has his flaws as a human and lashes back. He gives off Qui Gon Jinn vibes.

    They’re all canon until they aren’t, I wish the creatives behind these projects wouldn’t just go over the books and figure it out later. There are too many instances of something happens in the book with said character but doesn’t when they are on film.

    Osha closed herself off to the force six years ago because the thing going on with May started creeping into her because they are dyads, like Ben and Rey. She sensed May’s darkness, she believes she killed her moms, she nipped the Sith off before it could get in. Notice in the rhyme Osha doesn’t give May anything but May gives Osha who she is, May:”I give you you”, Osha:”and you give me me”, May is filling Osha with herself, to control, to rule over 🤷🏽‍♂️. When did the Sith get in and could it have been stopped but the Jedi chose to Luke and Ben the situation, they tried to kill her out of fear of the Sith coming back. I question where Yoda is in all of this because he’s not a kid during this, why is someone else running everything and is he on the council? Is he off meditating or on mission and he doesn’t know or scarier, did he know all of it and took part in its being removed from the archives? We know what Sith Lords are alive in this period and they aren’t humanoid, they are aliens with big huge heads, so I don’t know who that guy in the mask is but he’s not a Sith Master, he could be an apprentice but he’s not the big bad and he’s using May, something else is going on here, it may not even be Sith. We could be dealing with bad Jedi who aren’t Sith but who are pissed at the order. We need to know what went down with the four they found the twins, new witches coming.

    @@Jabberwocky415 slightly? Obi Wan has a sense of humor. Anakin has a serious playful side. I think Anakin would have been exactly like Yord if Palpatine wasn’t influencing him. Anakin (just like Yord) comes on the scene like “I’m a big boy Jedi” trying to prove something. But then the “me, me, me” influence of Palpatine takes over.

    Ill watch this reaction because I respect all 3 of your opinions, but I watched both starting episodes last night and so far, definitely not impressed. $180M for what (so far) appears to look not much different than a mid-season Star Trek episode from the 90s. Compare these 2 episodes to the opening of Andor. The former feels like an older TV show, the latter came out of the gate like a movie. But beyond the mediocre FX, what really bummed me out was the severely basic dialogue. The show title suggested this would be higher level than other SW shows, but instead it comes off as a show for younger kids. Will episodes 3 and 4 sway me to like the show more? I certainly hope so. But so far I'm getting Book of Boba vibes.

    I agree. Why send a knight and padawan to apprehend a Jedi Master assassin and then decide to send the assassin off in a ship controlled by a droid? And in a galaxy with trillions of beings, they managed to track down the suspect instantly based on ........ the word of the innkeeper? The costumes look cosplay, some of the sets look like amateur theatre and the plot armour and contrivances were cartoon-like.

    Art really is subjective, saying the "acting is great, story is great and FX"....really beg to differ. acting is more akin to a stage play, the martial arts seems like the chipotle of Mexican food, or panda express of Chinese food, very Americanized, you can count the dancing steps in the choreography, cant do that with something like John Wick.... i really want to like this show, hopefully it gets better, so far its meh...a lot of things dont work storywise...One for example: a Jedi Master was killed, and instead of sending a squad of Jedi Masters of the highest level to find the killer, they send 1 Master, 1 Knight, and a Padawan whose constantly shitting on the Knight for some reason. camp fire in space, darkside user ignites lightsaber for no reason but for the look. etc. but yeah "Leslye Headland really good work" ( i call glazing on that)

    I gotta disagree. The action for these two episodes has been the most invested I've been in a non climactic SW fight in a loooooong time. Especially the stuff in ep 2. I'm not sure why the acting being like a stage play would be a down. If anything, the gravitas of theater is bringing me in more.

    I really like this show. Don't understand the backlash at all. It's so sad that narrow mindedness and petty resentment can spoil good storytelling. Just because a story is "woke" (has more than two non-white ethnicities on screen at once and mentions mums plural) doesn't mean it is automatically bad. As long as representation isn't shoehorned into the narrative at the cost of quality writing, then not only is it not an issue, it can enhance and deepen the story. Stories have always reflected society, and are more meaningful and captivating when they do; diversity of characters can help make good stories entertaining.

    It's not really a twin thing for Star Wars, but about duality. Everything is about 2. Light and dark. Opposing, but connected. Even Luke and Leia were twins, but they were also boy and girl twins. Every time something breaks, they mention some sort of couplings. Twin Suns, Sebulba's twin Twi'Leks, twins in the Mos Eisley cantina, TIE Fighter. Master and Apprentice Jedi and Sith.

What really happened on Osha's homeworld? How did Mae survive when Sol saw her killed? Why was Mae so insistant that Jedi attack unarmed people? Why did Tobin choose suicide as redemption? Who trained Mae? How and why are Mae and Osha connected through visions? Why does Mae insist that the Jedi attack with all their might in that way?
