    FYI: We wanted to share more info on why we don’t have one short touch of the menu button to enter the menus, it’s a long press to enter as we want it to be an intentional decision when someone accesses the menus. You touched on the reason we do this when you mention the high-stress situation, the last thing we want is someone reaching for the emergency button and hitting the menu button by mistake and causing the camera to stop recording right when they need it the most, just wanted you to understand the logic behind why we set it up the way we did, nice review though, very professional and we like your presentation style.

    Menu button long press is a great idea and the back lighting of the buttons is a great idea. I dont want a bunch of buttons lighting up and distracting me while im driving.

    Nice video. Thank you! I need a camera to keep car safe while parked at trail heads in the mountains. Would having these cameras encourage a car break-in? Would having a front and back cameras running constantly in parking mode be a drain on your battery? Or would you just need to change your car battery more often? Is there another power source that can be used?

    The DCPro+ is pretty small and low profile, and in my experience isn't likely attract that kind of attention. I live in a sketchy area and haven't had any passerbyers pay any special attention to my dashcam. The DCPro+ has a low voltage cut-off mechanism, so if your car battery does start to lose power it kills the camera to prevent it from completely draining your battery. I keep my DCPro+'s parking mode running for several hours at a time and haven't run into any issues. You can plug the camera into an electrical outlet/cigarette lighter if your vehicle has one, but hardwiring it in makes for a more reliable setup.

    I don't recall you mentioning the importance of the "!" button... doesn't it safeguard that segment from being overwritten? In case of an incident which you want to make sure persists until you save it on your Laptop / DashCamViewer program? Just ordered two SG9667DC2K's, one for our new Audi S5 Cabriolet, one for a new Subaru Outback.

    Hi Jeremy. Is the recording light meant to stay on when I turn my car off? Or does it still record in park mode when I turn off my car and the dashcam.

  • @JeremyY

    @JeremyY

    Yes. When I turn off my ignition the red recording light stays on at a steady blink and the LCD screen turns off. Which means it is still recording in Parking Mode. I hope that answers your question.

    I have one of these for 19 months with no problems. Like the wifi. Just wish the connection were on top instead of on the side and offered 60fps recording like the Viofa A129.

    Just out of curiosity- what are you using your dashcam's 60fps footage for? Because to me it's more of a "nice-to-have" and I personally couldn't justify paying more for it. But there could be something I'm missing about the value of 60 fps footage so I'm all ears.

    I like this cam. Occasionally I get a screw in my tyre and I'm wondering if someone in my neighbourhood is doing it. Would this cam be the one I could setup and when im parked in my driveway at night, would it record anyone moving around the vehicle?. How would I know if it has recorded someone the night before. Can I wifi into it from my bedroom and check it?

  • @JeremyY

    @JeremyY

    3 жыл бұрын

    Yes, the parking mode can help you with that. You'd have to review your microSD card's footage each night. You can WiFi it but you'd have to hop into your vehicle, manually turn on DVR's the WiFi mode, then enter the Street Guardian app on your phone. So even though it does have WiFi capability for reviewing footage you wouldn't be able to do it without leaving your cozy bed, if that's what you're wondering.

    @@JeremyY ok my ideal cam would be one that hooks up to my home wifi when I park in the driveway I can look through it from my mobile at home and it triggers on movement in extreme low light without showing its on in my driveways and then starts recording and then tells me it has had a hit on my mobile device when I wake up. Can you get them to make something like that?

    It uses a strong double sided tape so it's difficult to remove. If that's your intended use I'd suggest one of Street Guardian's models with a suction mount, like the SG9665TC.

    Great review, but I can’t help but feel like you went fishing for “cons” about this. “Oh no I have to hold the menu button for 2 seconds… my life is over 😱”. It’s fair to say that if the camera is recording (except when in parking mode) you’re probably driving. And if that’s the case you shouldn’t be using your dashcam menu anyway. And if you DO get into a crash and are stuck in the middle of the road, do you think the first thing you’ll be doing is checking your footage? Why? Will you check your Facebook, Twitter and IG accounts for the latest updates while you’re at it? How about making sure everyone is ok and getting everyone safely off the road, then when you’re exchanging details and insurance information you can check it then. “Oh no the buttons aren’t backlit”. Maybe lights aren’t backlit for a reason? Like… oh I dunno… maybe they’re distracting, and the only really important button is the only one you should actually be using while driving your car? You yourself said you’ll hardly ever actually use the menu at all. Like I said at the start it was a great review until you got to that part.

  • @JeremyY

    Yep I did go fishing for cons. Always do, always will. Because in my experience there is always something that can be improved and if a company improves that thing (like Street Guardian has) they should be recognized for it. And what might be "minor" con to me might be a big deal to someone else. In all of my reviews I lay out the good, the bad, and the ugly and prefer to leave it to my viewers to decide for themselves whether or not it's a big deal to them.

    I'm gonna need to hear some actual dashcam model names if you're gonna come out and drop a comment like this. Because I've been through 5 different dashcam brands and the SG DCPRO+ EASILY tops the image quality of any other dashcam that I've ever owned and believe me I pixel-peep the hell out of my footage. So you can bet that I'm interested in knowing which dashcams out there make the DCPRO+ look like "crap". Let's hear some names, son

    @@JeremyY sure, I just spent the last 3 weeks (over 80 hours) digging though almost every dash cam compareing side by side video and still images and the thinkware u1000 or Viofo A129 (which I just bought one today) come out with way better video / screen grabs compared to the Street Guardian. Even the blackvue dr900x is better then street guardian. The only thing that street guardian might do better is at night time but then almost all cameras are quite crap at night time especially when cars come directly at the camera with lights on. Everyone is to their own tho, I did my research, I will find out next week when the camera arrives if my hours and hours of time was worth it. Hey, I might come back here to eat my own words and say I was wrong 😋

    @@JeremyY Good day, Sorry for the delay. The camera came on Monday (5days ago) and the CPL filter came yesterday morning. I had some video that I flagged (so the camera would keep and not overwrite) from Monday and Tuesday and then I added some video from after installing the CPL which is near the end of the upload, I added a note in the video from when I installed the filter. I think it made a difference as the first 1min 30 you can see some times the reflection of sunglasses in the window, that are sitting on my dash. The last half you don't see them as much or not at all. I forgot to remove the sound from some clips, I didn't add any silly music, sorry you will have to put up with a bit of road sound and then some silence. Not as good as your videos with voice over. I did a still shot now and then so you can see the quality of text (most of the times license plates) and then a zoom in but found in some cases the still image of the license plate is far better then the zoom in. I think its how the program I used to edit the video handles the image as when I use Dashcam Viewer and zoom in on the plate, the quality is far better, I don't have the full version of that program yet, I dont think it can edit the video the same as the one I used. I used an old version of Pinnacle Studio (Version 21) to edit the video (it now its up to version 25), maybe the newer version would have looked better. I found from the 128gig memory that I could do a bit over a day of work driving (average 100km per day) before it starts to overwrite from the start, I will install the back camera in a day or two ready for next week, I guess my recording times will go down quite a bit with a 1080p camera also being recorded. Hopefully this week I get my 256gig with both the front and back recording it should take it back up to a day or two. Make sure you watch in 4k and full screen for the best results, I only have a 1080p screen and find watching video in 4k looks better then the same video in 1080p. I read some scientific reason behind it once and then when testing I found it was true. Any negative feedback is welcome. Kind Regards, Neil. kzread.info/dash/bejne/g52br9aRdsqzfqQ.html
