    Grateful for this review. I've been waiting for a true 4K image quality mirror dashcam for the form factor. Crucial in a car with limited windshield area, who's view I'm not willing to block for a glass mounted dash cam. Plus it's just a seamless integration clandestinely mounted nearly invisible to outside eyes. The visual interior aesthetics matter. Terrifically thorough as always.

    Well done for pointing out the bit about focussing. So many reviewers miss that. With a mirror you focus on the reflection so similar to as if you’re looking forward; with a screen like this you focus on the actual screen. Same problem with video door mirrors.

    I have the Wolfbox G900. I like it because I have a Jeep and the spare tire and rear seat headrests obstruct the OEM mirror. This gives me a clear field of vision. I also like that you can look at the rear view, front view or combined view with a swipe of my finger. The only thing I don’t like is the rear view could be brighter. I purchased the mount that replaced the OEM mirror. Looks much better.

    Nice work, 100% through. I'm impressed it has both codecs, (H.264 & H.265). That's what I've been trying to tell Vantrue, 70mai, Thinkware, (but not VIOFO). lol Now we need a rear view mirror competitor from VIOFO, along with a suction cup model for rental car / temporary applications. -Chuck

    Thanks for this video. Have been waiting for one of this video from you. I actually love the concept of mirror dashcam than the traditional dashcam, because it serves mores fulfilling purpose than just a windscreen attached dashcam. I can't wait for major reliable dashcam producers (Viofo, thinkware and the likes) to dwell into mirror dashcam production for true resolution as advertised. I just got one myself of recent, and really on the pricey side (pormido prd80), I will love to see you review it. Some major issue I had while looking out was 1) Reliability (How long they last) 2) True resolution (as advertised) 3) OEM look (So many of them are really rubber rapped to the main mirror like the one you reviewed, and also had to plug in all accessories from the top like that). I simply hate to see wires like that 🙄 These and some other factors so limited my options, The pormido doesn't really really give me the resolution I wanted for the front (4k), but ended up having a single unit viofo unit for the front, used the mirror dashcam for the rear and interior. I anyways ended up with the prd80 for its OEM Look majorly and clear footage even it's 2k & 1080p.

    Just checked it out and yeah I see what you mean. I like that it replaces your RVM and that GPS is built in, but that’s pricey for a 2K cam, plus the cam is external like a traditional dashcam. Cool to see a variety of approaches to all this though.

    @@VortexRadar Absolutely pricey for a 2k cam, was able to get some discount off it though, by speaking to the Customer Care (one of the best responsive one have seen). I simply got sold on the prd80 for its design. Though I also found some suiting bracket mounts (sold alone) on amazon that suits different mirror cam to avoid rubber rapping it on the preexisting mirror, to give it some OEM look. But the connecting wires from the top couldn't be addressed 😃. Thanks 👍

Can't wait until they catch up in features to regular dashcams as I like having the screen to see the videos and also like the view at night vs a regular rear view. Please keep on reviewing these for a better parking mode and a better rear camera resolution.

    @VortexRadar You mentioned processor/imager overheating being a pervasive problem in your 2024 Dashcam Buyer’s Guide reviews. Has any company looked at adopting Gallium Nitride processors & imagers as those are far more heat tolerant than Silicon processors & imagers? Sony Starvis seems to be adopted by many dashcam companies, have you broached this in your talks with their reps? Is there a big yearly trade show (or shows) like CES for tech but that features dashcams & if so what is it called?

  • @keithpennock

    @keithpennock

    Ай бұрын

    @@VortexRadarYes it is used in chargers and many other applications that involve high voltages because of their tolerance of higher heat but they are also used in many other applications like satellites because they are more tolerant of wide temperature swings & can be hardened better against radiation. I remember you talking with a dashcam rep in one of your previous videos, I didn’t know if that was broached in your talks with them. It seems to be a pervasive problem with dashcams & even GoPros overheating.

Glad Nexigo went with usb-c instead of the aging mini usb connector.

    Hey, great review. You mentioned in the video quality section about vibration and not having a hardmount kit available (something not rubber band based). Have you had a chance to peel up the feet of the back mounting to see if the rubber band mounting tabs were screwed on, in which case that would open up the opportunity for someone to make a bracket or 3d print a bracket for a more sturdy hard mount. A lot of people's ball socket mounts are worn out or get accelerated wear due to heavier mirror dashcams like this, something to consider. Excellent content as always!

    What would you recommend for the best rear camera mirror for the least rear image glare and sharpest image? That would be 90% of my use. In multi-lane driving, being able to have a wide field of rear view for lane changing, for me, is invaluable. I just had a Rexing M2 installed, and the reflection glare and washed-out images are awful. I would appreciate any suggestions you have. I like what I have read about the Nexigo. Thanks! Charlie

    Wow, that's cool, I had no idea such a product existed. And your review was super-thorough as always. The thing I disliked about what you showed of this product was having to tap into power for the rear camera. It's a minor thing but I'd rather not make any permanent changes to my car, even just installing a tap like that, and it seems unnecessary. i.e. other brands' rear cams like Viofo don't require that. Hopefully they can correct that in their next version. How's the rearview at night? Is the camera sensitive enough to be able to tell what's going on, or does the regular mirror mode work better? And if so, does the regular mirror do auto-dimming via electro-chromatic operation?

  • @VortexRadar

    @VortexRadar

    Ай бұрын

    The fuse box taps are optional for parking recording. I’m a little confused by your comment though since that’s how you do it with other brands too, especially if the cig. lighter turns off when you turn off your car. If you’d like driving only recording, you could certainly stick with the included cig. lighter plug.
