Sandro, I think it’s worth saying that while camerawork and production techniques on videos is a good thing to master, what you do here surpasses that. Explaining something from afar, off-camera, with clear order and purpose is stellar. As a former Army instructor and curriculum developer, it is an underrated ability to be able to not only train…but teach. Anyone who watches this should be able to do as you’ve done, BUT, also refer back to this over and over. That’s the power of masterclass instruction. Thanks for all you do brother. Keep at it!

Hear, Hear! As someone who has developed online training materials for hundreds of thousands of paying students, I can tell you that the delivery is exceptional and the scripting/pacing is really really well done. Online materials don't have to be Industrial Light and Magic quality, they have to be easy to follow and the audio explanation of what the viewer is seeing needs to be spot on and Sandro's videos always meet that standard. This is solid educational content.

Your a man of great knowledge and your information is always on point, Id love to see/hear your thoughts on the Koch Chemie and Herrenfarht range I've heard mixed reviews about both brands stuff and haven't played around with any of it just yet but noone breaks it down like yourself

As I've been using the ACA520 more lately, I thought I'd share my approach with it. When using as a traditional finishing polish, i start with four very small "micro dots" of polish on the pad. The lubricant is durable and spreadable enough to safely buffer the paint from the pad. This small amount is enough to get started with the process, from there one, or two "micro dots' just enough product to stick up over the vented opening of the 3D bottle tops, and touch it to the pad. I start in the middle of my secrion and findnmy way to my starting spot. It's not necessary to spread the film over the surface, however you can if you like. I still often do out of habit. On a lower speed, and with light pressure, I guide the pad over the surface with one back and forth pass and one side to side pass. The tools I'm mostly using are a Rupes Duetto at home or an Adams Swirl Killer 15 at work. The pad I start with is a yellow Rupes foam at home, or LC orange HDO at work. If needed, I switch to the white Rupes (home), or black HDO (work). Because I've sucj a small amoint the wipe off is a breeze. It is very easy to overuse any of the 3D polishes. I've mentioned in another post that ACA520 reminded me a lot of a "lite" 3D ONE in terms of user experience, it's just more suited towards the lighter end of the spectrum, where ONE is sort of "medium", and ACA is heavy (very heavy, actually). While I haven't tried this polish with something like the Rupes yellow wool yet, I have used it with the Buff and Shine Uro-Fiber to great effect. It actually has a decent amount of cut with that pad, again, a lot like 3D ONE. Like i stated elsewhere, of I just eant straight finishinh, with ease I use AAT502. I could get by with just AAT502, ONE, and ACA500, but ACA520 has been fun to learn how to use, so I don't mind keeping it in stock.

@@Lesparta - I like to have a trio of heavy cut, medium cut, and fine/ultra -fine cut. For the fine cut I like 3D ACA520, and slightly finer is the 3D AAT502 - finishing polishes. For medium I like 3D ONE. For heavy I like ACA500 compound. Pads are equally important. I find that I like these liquids paired with the Rupes line of pads. Yellow and white foam, and blue and yellow wool. Consider starting with just 3D ONE. It is formulated to respond, and correspond to the pad used. However there are still times where I will use the ACA500 Compound to more efficiently level the defects. But most of the time 3D ONE will get the job done. The biggest reasons I like these: 1. Almost zero dust. This is important to keep the mess down, and more importantly reduce dust inhalation. 2. Long cycle time. The lubricant in these liquids is durable and allows for smooth buffing and extend use of their proprietary non-diminishing abrasives. 3. Zero "fillers". These liquids leave nothing to adhere to the paint. No conditioning oils, or glazes - pure abrasive paint correction. 4. Safe. No harsh petro-solvents, or chemicals that are detrimental to health. Once I switched to 3D for polishing, I don't get headaches or fatigue anymore. Best advice: Pick something and master it before trying another brand - if at all possible. I spent a LOT of money testing polish lines only to find that the 3D I had been using was the best fit for me. However, it might not be the best for you! Try that 8oz bottle of 3D ONE, and see how you like it. Less is more.

As for the pads, I currently only have ShineMate foam pads I got from their 3" and 5" DA polisher kits. I am planning to get some wool pads and maybe the URO Fiber pads too. Do you think buying more expensive foam/wool/mf pads could make such a huge difference? Thanks for the insight, I really appreciate it.

@@Lesparta -No problem! For a very long time, I've only used the ACA500 and ONE. Very rarely do I need a finishing polish. If you do get a dedicated finishing polish, try the AAT502 because it's the finest in the line. 3D ONE and ACA520 are very closely related. Give the shinemate pads a try! You may find that they work great for you. It's also possible that a large manufacturer like Buff and Shine or Lake Country made them for shinemate. I really like the Uro-Fiber pads. They work great with ACA500 and ONE. But on painted plastic substrates, the heat generated by the microfiber makes it difficult to correct painted plastics. That is where wool does a great job, because it stays cooler.

Would like to add Rupes Uno Pure to the list. It’s one of the few jeweling polishes that finishes perfectly on super soft black Honda and Porsche paintwork. Carpro essence would be another.

@@dimmacommunication it lasts less than 6 months. It’s intended to be used as a primer for a Carpro coating, not standalone (despite their claims). It won’t be very hydrophobic for any significant period, use it for jeweling that’s it. Menzerna 3800 is another excellent option if you want something with minimal fillers.

As always, exceptional education style content that's fair and reasonable. Do you think that Nova's products are slightly more conducive to softer Japanese/Korean/Chinese paints and clear coats because that's the bulk of the market here in Australia, so they made the product based on that? I'd like to support a good local Australian company like Nova, but I gotta say, as nothing more than a noob enthusiast, Gyeon is where most of my products come from. I need to find a Nova sweet spot and try something from them.

Thanks, I’d say the main train of thought is that on a lot of hard to medium paints you don’t necessarily always need a fine polish as many one step of even coarser compounds can finish extremely well on those paints, so I guess Finesse was more tuned to finishing well on softer paints where a finer polish is really needed in most cases, but with it’s extra bite it can also deal with light to moderate defects on those harder paints. Gyeon is a great brand so use what is working well for you but I think Nv could definitely be worth trying out and comparing.

ACA520 I refer to as 3D ONE "lite". Excellent polish, but I've found that sometimes it can be a challenge to finish down with (this is when I use their AAT502). AAT502 gives me a similar user experience to 3D ONE/ACA520, but with better finishing (I've yet to find a finish where it doesn't leave a great finish), and easier wipe off. AAT502 can struggle to remove very heavy marring, but will eventually with their non diminishing abrasives, and durable lubricant. AAT502 works great on foam pads, but it tends to really clog up microfiber pads (same goes for the AAT501 compound. None of 3D's current line of abrasives diminish. I also frequently use Optimum Hyper Polish. I still have to experiment with it's boundaries, but I have a very difficult time removing the marring Optimum Intensive Polish, or Hyper Compound leave behind - with their pads. Optimun Hyper Polish seems to fit in between ACA520, and AAT502 all things being equal. Another I really like is Jescar Micro Polish. It's a more traditional diminishing finishing polish. It's a lot like Menzerna SF4000, but with easier wipe off and less dusting.

Hey mate, I was having the same issues with Hyper System. In más case, it was not Intensive nor Hyper Compound that was causing marring, its the waffle pads. What I do is that I DA Wool Hyper Compound. Speed 3 slooow arm movement then speed 5 faster arm movement. Then: Hyper Wool Pad (purple) with Hyper Polish, no pressure speed 3-4. Three or 4 passes.

@@danlc95 Add some stainless walnuts inside and shake shake shake to avoid clogging sprays. Also have in mind that Intensive polish was originally developed as a cutting compound. It was a 2 polish system until they realized that in some cases you needed more cut so they developed Hyper Compound. Try using different pads. What's crazy is the cutt & finish you cam achieve with Hyper Wool and Hyper polish

Great work, your videos are so satisfying to watch! What are your thoughts about the Scholl S30+ and how it compares with the Sonax Perfect Finish? I'd love to see a video where you testing the S30+ because there's nearly no test on youtube for this polish, and i know that you like to use the Scholl products. Thanks and best regards!

Thanks and I would put S30+ much closer to Nv Finesse then the other two polishers here, but I agree S30+ would be good to add to a future review- it’s a really nice polish.

Thanks and I’d say S30+ may actually sit between Finesse and Perfect Finish in many areas. There’s some talk about a new S30 Black in the works as well.

What would you recommend on piano black interior trim?

And of course, my Griot’s Perfecting Cream (fine polish) arrived today. Holy cow is it good. Detailing a white Mercedes ML this week and it already has good paint. Rather than just use the fine polish with the soft pad, I teamed it with Griots’ orange pad. It’s Heaven. One thing I realized is that sometimes we can conclude a product is dusting a tiny bit, when in fact it’s actually the pad. Some foam pads I’ve overused despite cleaning really well, only to find I should have swallowed my pride and tossed the pad in the trash. To a point, I think Sandro’s comparison shows just how far products have come. You just have to be an experienced detailer who never stops assessing each move you make.

Great to great that mate, Griot’s has never really made it here locally but I do know they have a strong following in the states and seem to produce some great products. Your 100% right about the dust sometimes coming from the pad and I’ve also found that certain pads will also tend to create more dust than others, so it can really be tough when you’re trying to look for all these things and get to the bottom of it all. Awesome videos mate, your feedback to really go through each product thoroughly is highly appreciated! Recently I have been researching on options for a compound/polish combo or AIO suitable for a soft Honda Civic white paint with minimal dusting and is beginner friendly to use. I was thinking Sonax perfect finish, NV Finesse with an orange Pad, carpro essence or Carpro Fixer all as 1 steps but not sure about which products to use as 2 steps for soft white Honda paint and would appreciate advice

Thanks, and generally you want a cutting compound that can still finish well as a first step on soft paints so the next step is super easy to refine. Nv Precision could be a great choice, I also know a lot guys like Griot’s FCC and it tested well with me, but not available here locally. For finishing Finesse is always going to great on soft paints but Scholl S30+ is also a great one. I’d also try to stick with foam pads on the softer paints, the LC blue HDO followed by the Orange could be a good choice.

Do you think I should try the NV Finesse first with Orange SDO as the least aggressive option and then move onto the NV precision with the LC Blue/ orange if the cut isn’t enough ? Is the NV precision too aggressive for paint with light swirls ?

Yes I’d definitely start light and move up in aggression only if needed. Precision and the blue HDO aren’t crazy aggressive so I would be afraid to go there but only if needed.

would you still apply a glaze after a normal 3 stage polish? (compound>polish>finishing polish) i recently did a 3 stage on my car (no fillers), but applied some autoglym SRP in hard to reach corners etc to fill any parts i didnt get to thoroughly polish.. then seal it

It really depends on the detail, if I’m not applying a coating I may sometimes use a glaze/AIO polish it really depends.

Another great video. What finishing polish would you recommend for a novice on a newer car with soft to medium paint? It is a blue camaro, not as bad as the ZL1 you detailed but GM clear seems bleh. Was thinking Menzerna 3500/3800, Ultimate Polish or Megs 210?

If you’re not intending on adding a coating and don’t mind a little filling as apposed to removing haze abs micro swirls an AIO is a great option, there’s really no right or wrong just want you’re after.

Thanks, and Koch Chemie (similar to Sonax) has only come to Australia in the last year or two so they’re not brands we have much of a history with here. But I’m more than happy to try and include some of their range in future videos.

Pity about the 3D considering it's aimed more for body shops etc. Considering 3D is one of the best compounds on the market.

Thanks, I love Essence, UltraCut is amazing and I don’t mind ClearCut but Reflect isn’t my favourite, I think it needs an update to finish better on soft to medium paints, on harder paints it’s a great finishing polish.

Hi Sandro after watching this comparison between polishes i actually ordered a bottle of Finesse from but the bottle i got is a bit different the cut rating is different as compared to the one in the video the one o got has a cut rate of 7/10 and a finish of 8/10 and mentions it to be a One step compound, do you have any knowledge if Nv carcare revised the formula or something you insight would be greatly appreciated

I think you may have Nv Precision compound, they may have sent you the wrong one. In saying that Precision is a pretty fantastic compound, but certainly not a finishing polish like Finesse.

The label is wrong, I think they did a bunch of misprints. It’s the exact same as the one I used, it will be 10/10 for finish.

It may be somewhere in between Finesse and Perfect Finish but I’d say it sits a little closer to Finesse. S30+ is a really nice polish in my experience.

It’s hard to get too specific without some proper side by side testing , but yes I think it could potentially sit between them in many areas but I’d still guess it’s a little closer to Finesse in most areas.
