Sounds good! I have a Fender Rumble 40 with a 10" speaker. It's light and loud enough for me (I don't play in a band). It was inexpensive, too. I got it from Sweetwater a couple of years ago for $180. Tip: I asked for a discount and got one.

As a bassist of 45 years, look at the RMS wattage value. This music power rating, that's used, is a marketing ploy. One PA System on Amazon was described as having 600W (300W per channel) music power output. However a look at the spec sheet showed it was only 75W RMS per channel. For a pub band you really need a minimum of 250-300W RMS from a bass setup. My guitarist can get away with a 15W Blues Junior but you need a lot of headroom for bass. It's the old Fletcher-Munson curves playing their part.

Agreed. It’s very deceptive. It took me a while to get the proper bass amp and a while to get my live system setup.

If you end up really enjoying the thumpier side of things and love your back you should consider taking a look at the Greenboy Fearful. I built a pair of Greenboy Fearful 12/6/1. I have never had an indoor gig where I felt the need to do more than a single cab. Use two for outdoor festivals, but really don't need the second one. My single 12" cab is pushing volume way past what my 4x10 full size cab did! Added benefit is that it was DIY, neo speakers make it so you can lift it with your pinky, and it is SUPER flat. I have never had an amp really highlight the differences in my bass guitars so well without coloring it at all. Ed Friedland did a great youtube review on the fearless you should check out

That's really cool. I love DIY projects. I was thinking about making a cab. Thanks for the comment.

Does your band always play that loud?

Unfortunately. This is the first actual gigging band I've ever been in, but I've played with a few groups for jam sessions and I gotta say, I was pretty shocked how loud bands are when I first played with other musicians. I mean, we're in a 20x30 garage, so that doesn't help, but we have live acoustic drums and two distorted guitars. I wear in ear monitors to keep from going deaf, sometimes ear plugs. I've always worn ear plugs to concerts as well. I don't get how people don't protect their hearing. I'd prefer lower stage volume. I have trouble with feedback in the wedges because I have to get the monitor volume so high to overcome the instrument volume. Interestingly though the FOH volume is just fine. We're not blasting the audience...just ourselves! LOL
