It stutters like crazy on all systems and the visibility is horrid. I was referring to DirectX11/12 performance. Also, I'm not 'under estimating' this CPU, or at least not in the way you think. I know this CPU is good and pairs fairly nicely with a 1660 Super, but when you're dealing with Fortnite you have to take your expected performance and cut it in half. It's actually shocking.

    Stop listening to these stupid bottleneck calculators and use your common sense, of course it's gonna bottleneck in certain games but it's not a flat "40.5%". A game like fortnite will be probably limited by the cpu, but if you try putting it at the highest settings and higher res it will be limited by the gpu. GPUs don't get magically bottlenecked by a CPU unless it supports an older version of PCIe, and both parts use PCIe 3.0

    T5500s are still technically fine for modern day gaming. With a riser board you get i7-7700k and even i7-8700k performance (using 2x x5680 or the better x5690s). You’re also able to go for something like 72gb of ddr3. Overall super fun machine to work on and dirt cheap for the performances. The entire build excluding gpu literally costed a littler over half of the price of my i7-7700k. I guarantee with a good gpu, and maybe a hundred extra bucks, you’d manage to get much higher performance than the machine built in the video (across the board).

  • @EclipticFactions

    @EclipticFactions

    Also to point something out here. The x5680 is far superior to the i5-4750. The riser let’s you have two on the machine, meaning 2x far superior than one i5-4750. Using the slightly more expensive x5690 (than the x5680) about 50% better benchmarks in Fortnite with a single cpu. Double = more better. This is the way.

    Better Suggestion: -8th gen intel CPU (to ensure windows 11 will work as windows 10 is losing support in less than 2yrs) and yes with enough digging you can find a pc with 8th gen for $100 -RX 5700/5700XT: Dig enough and they can be had for $100-120, alternatively a GTX 1070/1080 -Reputable $50-60 500w+ PSU -$25 for a 240GB SSD -$15 for misc. such as psu adapters

    Basically how I built my first PC. Just with an HP workstation, and not a Dell optiplex, but same principal. Just take a workstation PC, slap in a graphics card and some extra RAM, and an SSD to help the speed, and you have a pretty decent starter gaming PC

    Only downside to this is that some Dells require an OEM power supply due to special connectors to the motherboard which Dell power supplies tend to cost a lot more than a standard power supply.

    We were doing these builds before COVID. You could get a 3rd gen i7 Optiplex for $150 then drop an ex-mining RX480/580 and new PSU in it and have more gaming power than a PS4 for around $300.

    A Dell Precision T1700 can be found for $70-80 and has an Intel xeon in it (comparable to an i7). Throw a mid tier GPU in there and you've got a very robust PC. I've been running this setup for 8 years and it hasn't failed me yet.
