this is why I’m not surprised lacking common knowledge is so well, common in the US, in my country under the school system I’ve been dealing with for the past 12 years, in 90% of your subjects 7th-12th grade you can’t pass if you fail any exam at all, you have to retake every exam you fail until you pass or you will fail the subject for that whole semester, and in specifically 10th-12th grade (which is kind of our “high school”) you will have to redo the whole course by taking every single exam on the same day or in rare cases over two days, I’m talking having a speech, listening comprehension, reading comprehension, argumentative text, novel, essay etc, (okay that’s about it but still) and if you fail any of them on that day you’ve fucked it and will have to retake that course in your 20s at a specific type of school made for retaking “high school” courses, we also have the same grading system for everything, so the absolute vast majority of exams is graded F-A, though in some subjects they give out E, C, and A points for different questions and that decides wether you have a clear E or C or A or if it’s between two grade requirements you’ll get a D or B, which is why I’ve given up being at the end of 11th grade, because I’ve missed too many exams so even a miracle couldn’t create enough opportunities to retake them, so I will have to redo about 11 out of 13 courses during my 12th grade school year at special occasions made for doing this, and to give you an idea of how impossible that is, we got 5 of those special occasions this school year. We also get a limited amount of occasions to retake exams during the school year, to get any opportunities beyond that you need to have a dialogue with the teacher and they have to voluntarily make time for you to take an exam privately with them present, shits a fucking nightmare but atleast I won’t get common geography questions wrong I guess… edit:I know this is very loosely related to the video if even at all, but I needed to vent
